Lasar hair Removal.....
Has anyopne had this done, or knows anyone that has had this done. If so:
Does it work?
Does it hurt?
Is it worth it?
thanks
whats wrong with hair?
Well here goes  I'm thinking of being brave and epilating .......
After one horrendous wax experience (a leg wax at a salon) where i was left physically bleeding - I understandably cringe at the thought of waxing the nether regions !!!
Still on the legs - just to give an idea of sensitivity - the creams burn, even when left on for less time than stated, electric razors i can trim with but not shave as it leaves me with very chaffed skin and something that resembles a carpet burn down under rolleyes
Taking all the above in to account, the only way forward was to wet shave, now this is really starting to peeve me................
Today, I dyed and plucked my eyebrows - plucking is fine on the eyes wink
Well you can guess by now (being a little bored and in need of a shave) I started to experiment on the bikini line - a little uncomfortable to start, but no rash, burn or lumps n bumps........ then it hit me - an epilator .....
Car out of garage and up to boots 5 mins later  OMG what a choice !!!
I came back empty handed coz i think i need you epilating ladies out there to advice on which to buy......
Plz help biggrin xxxxx
I use an epilator everywhere except on my head! lol
Um...........Kitty did use to epilate my ears for me
It takes a bit of getting used to in sensitive areas but it's worth perservering because the result is incredibly good and with time you need to do it less frequently. The hairs don't grow back bristly.......more soft and silky because they get weakened at the roots wink
I'd say go for it! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Ty Eager - but which brand/type works good as its a minefield out there redface biggrin
Hiya. Although I have not had laser hair removal done myself, I enquired about it whilst I was at an appointment to have my tattoos removed. The nurse said that yes it is painful, no it isn't permanent (in that you have to have it done about once every 6 months!! :shocksmile and no it isn't cheap!
All in all then, in my opinion, no it isn't woth it confused

Well I use a Philips beauty, Satinelle super sensitive.............and it's pink! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Works for me! :rascal:
I use a silk-epil although it's quite old so not sure if they still do that one. Use it most places...I quite enjoy it actually
lol
Watching this thread with interest......I hate shaving!
BTW, how long do the results last?
Depends how hairy you are!! I'm fair haired with fine hair so the results will last a month for me... lol
p.s. was there a post about laser hair treatment?! where did it go, I was halfway through posting a reply and strange things happened and it's not there now...

Epilating?
epilating .......is this still laser hair removal or are we on to something else???
Hello,
It depends on how dark you are. I Can only shave as I have had horrendous exprinces with waxing.
What about white light treatment? Its expensive but less painful then lazer or epilating. Its a bit pricey though.
Well I thought I'd finally gone completely bonkers but I think the two threads have been merged as they are on a similar topic dunno

Carrie Ann Thankyou for answering my original question
I agree they may be similar but i specifically ask for comments on laser hair removal!
I did the correct thing and did a search for hair removal threads first. I hardley ever post on here and now I'm being "merged" when i do....thanks Admin sad
well from my experience of laser "medical" treatment, it is a bit like the zap you get from static electric, feels like you being pricked with a needle even though nothing is touching you just light ! and the same sensation like sunburn then just a bit sore for a while after. I remember the smell of singed hair (not flesh!) even though I was cleanshaven at the time! The hair does grow back after a while so its not permanent ! my treatment was to disperse blood vessels ( birthmark) and they sure did crank the machine up ! but one can see the use of low power laser for hair removal as a fairly useful thing.
Epilators :scared:
Waxing :scared:
I pluck most of mine and then just shave the "delicate" parts.... Plucking does tend to stunt the regrowth and make it a lot finer... It works for me anyway :lol2:
my dad was a pheasant plucker.....it didn't stunt his growth though ?.

I have to agree that laser treatment is different from epilators and I think it should have been left on it's own. Perhaps the mod who merged them could amend the title of the new thread??
I hope the info helped but if you would like to check out a web site, the place where I had my tattoos done is called Lasercare, also known now as Sk:n. If you can't find it or would like to chat some more, fell free to PM me.

I'm watching with interest as I too have been toying with the idea of getting another epilator.
Had one about 20 years ago and after using it once, I threw it away because it hurt too much rolleyes
I have tried Shireens choice and tried plucking, which does hurt a bit, but not overly so, but it leaves me with small red spots, which I'm sure would do nothing anyone venturing *down there* redface lol
Epilators basically pluck out the hairs (or do they RIP them out? ) so do they cause spots too?
I have tried exfoliating first, moisturising after, but still I'm plagued with feckin' spots evil
I'm off shopping tomorrow, so hopefully after reading this thread I may convince myself to go for it all over again, but like some others, I'd like to hear your recommendations please - we can call it the "Swinging Heaven Which Consumer Product Shall I Buy Only to Throw it Away After One Use" thread :giggle:
Thanks
TJ
OMG - I thought i was going mad too with the merging of the post  But hey - i dont mind sharing wink
Ty everyone - I will be out tomorrow buying an epilator - lets hope some of my anatomy doesn't get plucked :scared: biggrin
Red - I think i will go for the philips satinelle - I too have the usual shave problems so it will be interesting to see what it looks like after epilation :giggle: I will re-post tomorrow evening and let u all know wink
Juniper-couple and Redhot, please give us an update tomorrow night on the epilady. I have been thinking about one for a while, but also very worried about how much it would actually hurt.
I normally use cream (only one brand doesnt give me burns) and tried every possible method of shaving (wet, dry, talc powder etc etc etc) and always get the red spots the following day so really do fancy the epilady, especially if the results last for a few weeks.
BUT before I risk it, want to hear someone elses experience of having their hairs ripped out from the roots
I very rarely get the spots/ingrowing hairs but I wonder if that's because I always use aloe vera gel afterwards dunno
I always use a new razor as well..... They blunt so easily :lol2:

. . . . . actually, it's not a bad idea . . . . so if *you* don't mind going first juniper . . . . . I don't mind letting you

Epilating?
rotflmao:rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao:
Not this time!
I have never made a secret out of the fact I love my epilady. It really does bloody hurt when you first try it and there is no way of stopping the pain, just get on with small patches until you can cope with it. It took me almost two weeks of doing small areas and going over them every couple of days until I could actually do the bottom half of my legs!
The thighs don't seem as painful, not for me anyway dunno
As for the pubic area, well I just found myself doing my bikini line and carried on :lol2:
The pubic mound isn't that painful but once you get to the more personal bits, fLucking hell it hurts :eeek:
As for how often I do it, its atleast once a week but then I have a hormone inbalance which does make me produce excess hair. I really should do it twice a week to stay hair free rolleyes
ffs just coz i'm the newbie !!!! rolleyes
I will be trying tomorrow - if i cant sit or walk tomorrow evening - Mr Juniper assures me that he will post a reply and full medical report on my behalf
Ok - I will be the Guinea Pig :giggle: but only if i get the title of "mistress of pain" afterwards whip

Of course you will. We'll call you anything you like . . . . as long as you tell the truth and don't come on here saying it didn't hurt *too* much, when in point on fact you have no skin left on your shins or elsewhere
Newbies - don't you just adore how gullible some of them are? innocent ;-)
