Just watching the One Show and they are talking about improving a person's happiness and therefore their health. One of the things is keeping a happiness diary. Listing 3 things each day - however small - that we are happy about. It has had a real effect on the guy involved. (Positive LOL)
I'm going to give it a go. I'll report back with any results in a few days.
My 3 happy things today are:
Hubby is making a delish tea for me.
I finally finished shuffling a load of data around at work.
The frost/fog this morning looked very pretty.
Someone else would have very different happy things of course - but these are mine. Of course there are plenty of negative things in my life - but I don;t need to keep a diary of them and make myself more miserable - just change them if I can and live with them if I can't.
Does anyone fancy joining me?
I've just done their stress test, and it seems I am normal!!
lol
I'm going to have a go at the three thingy thing that you suggest foxy biggrin
1) Talked briefly about doing a Gloucester Munch/Social next year
2) Finding out that the towns new Christmas lights though few are really nice
3) My daughter laughing and smiling as she came through the door from school today as she has been having it well rough with bullying again lately
My stress score is Mild. But I'd seriously argue with the concept that having such a low response to stress stimulus as described by the questions and answers for the best result is 'normal'. Is feeling no stress 'normal'? I doubt it - it's an ideal (lucky Sarah biggrin) but I would have thought having some stress in a person's life is the norm.
Ooooh... I'll have a piece of that! :giggle:
Things that made me happy today?
1. I got a lovely compliment from someone so unlikely it surprised the pants off me and I blushed! redface
2. Friday is generally cake day in our office and it was my turn to buy. I bought five cakes. There are six of us. Ooooooooooh my willpower rocks!! :smile2:
3. I came home to my parents' house tonight and I have just had the most fantabulistic shower I'm tempted to move back in!
I have more... am I allowed more than three? dunno
Great, positive, happy thread!

Well done on the will power - I'm not doing so well in that department. LOLOL
You can have as many as you like - but I think 3 was chosen as a number that should be possible to fill on most days. But thinking through lots of happy things must just be even more effective biggrin:D:D:D:D As they say 'count your blessings'.
Numbering is optional pmsl but the OCD among us might prefer to number, sort by length, spell check and resend the message just in case it didn't work the first time. :giggle:
I have had a smile today reading the posts and realising that you lot are actualy real peeps and even the ones with hard outers are understanding and have a soft center.
I also smiled this morning at casper our cat trying to walk on frost without touching it by shaking each foot as he lifts it up.
and the third one is my 16 year old daughter giving me a lesson on what a prostitute should look like. she is a pro in a school play today.

Well my 4th good thing from yesterday would be collecting my brother's chinese meal and bringing it home to my parents house and then watching him eat it while I had a Weight Watchers cottage pie. And I was smiling!!
Today's good things...
1. I spent the day with my doggy. He's 15 and on his last legs but I adore him and he adores me. He's old and dottery and a bit cantankerous but I love him to bits!

Yay!
I've been enjoying the 'permission' to think about happy things instead of (as well as?) all the things I have to worry about. Don't get me wrong, my life isn't bad, but it sometimes seems to be a round of organising stuff, worrying about stuff, stopping stuff - largely for other people or 'the future'. Sitting back and considering even tiny things that are good or make me happy is a little treat.
Today's happy thoughts:
I got a nice tax rebate which is now earmarked for 'frivolity only'.
I was able to help a colleague who was struggling.
Tea was lovely (Spanish omelette).
Well i know it is three thing today that made you happy, for the diary entery..
I can only think of two things that made me happy today..
That was finishing work early and knowing one day nearer too two weeks off work biggrin:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
and this coming weekend a night away with someone special
And there is my entry in the happiness diary today
A naughty telephone conversation. :rascal:
An order for one of my mum's Christmas cheesecakes! lol
Internet shopping! :giggle:
