I am going to pm you the details of a bloke who does accupuncture especially for people who want to stop smoking (a small stitch in your ear), a friend of ours has just had it done and so far (1 1/2 wks) he has not had a smoke.
Also the local NHS (in Wigan anyway) are supplying all the nicotine replacement stuff via prescription from your local chemist (dont need to see a doctor first) so that might be worth trying and the last thing ...........
........... If you want a stop smoking buddy, I will also give it a go :shock:
I wish I had some sensible advice to give you. I have never smoked, so I have no experience of anything that might work.
But if you think it'd help, I'm sure the good people of SH could organise a shagging roster for you. Every time you feel the need for a ciggie, call the name on the top of the list and they'll provide you with some instant distraction. Once your body starts to associate sex with not smoking, the rest should be easy.

i feel for you.
I gave up 3 months and 6 days ago. i started a thread about it.
i wont say it was easy , and i have had some really shitty times over the last 3 months personally that if i wanted to i could have justified havinga cigerrette over, but i didnt.
only those that have given up or experienced a addiction can relate to how stopping can effect you.
The way i did it was to see how long i could go without a smoke, then go longer. I kept a packet in the cupboard therefore i wasnt in the position that i couldnt have one, i was choosing not to.
sometimes its easier to not tell those around you who are smokers as sadely some will be willing to help you start smoking again ( i said some , dont hit me )
if you are out and tempted, but a few drops of water/drink into a used ashtray, im sure the smell will put you off.

Smoking is not good. but then so is not smoking, I once was asked by a girl if I smoked after sex but replied that I did'nt go that fast and that was the end of that relationship. Although there are the obvious medical risks in smoking that I do not deny, it is purely my own view that "Stress is the killer" and to give up sucessfully one must prepare to fill that gap that smoking fills with somthing less start with and ideally eliminate the cause for needing to "do anything" in the first place. Stress for me then is my root cause. and if I did not smoke then I would probably get addicted to somthing else. So thats what I am working on, and I wish you well in getting off the habit in the best way that may work for you.
I have to give up too. Have already been banned to the garden by son ( not nice in the middle of winter ! :shock: ) I think you have more success if in the right frame of mind to give up and at the mo I'm not but will do soon, promise :giggle:
