Does anyone like them???
We are watching 'Hostel' at the moment - it's horrendous! I've come on here to distract myself, but I still feel sick to the bone!
Den, on the other hand, appears to be loving it!
I'm still part glued to it - is that the appeal??? Some horrors I quite like, has anyone else seen hostel???

Hostel is the best comedy i've seen for ages. The chainsaw through the leg is hilarious rotflmao
I love horror films. But I prefer the old style of the build up, and the suspense, rather than the current trend of slasher style!!!!
However, I'm getting increasingly dissapointed to go to see a film billed as the goriest, scariest horror of the year, to find it rated a 12.
I agree though Hostel, was one of the funniest films I'd seen in a while

I wasn't too keen on the blowtorch part....
I love horror movies biggrin but I can't watch them on my own confused I don't necessarily need a big strong male to watch them with me but I like someone to be there just in case I need somewhere to hide behind lol
I think that the thriller/suspense type films are a lot scarier than horrors these days. The horrors seem to make me giggle.
louise xx
Horror films always seem to be far too tame for my taste, I always end up watching a film that is by reputation known as the most gory film ever made and only end up feeling let down because i expected much worse. I watched the latest texas chainsaw massacre (the begining) flm recently and i found myself giggling throughout the whole film whilst everyone else was leaving the cinema to be sick. Is this my generation that is so much harder to disgust or do i just have a really strong stomach?
p.s I dont remember Hostel being that gory to be honest, there was nothing particularly hardcore shown at all, it was all offscreen rolleyes

Don't take to me about Hostel......if my son says he wants to go backpacking across Europe in a few years.....i'm locking him in his room! lol
Now if you like horror......you have got to see Saw 3

Gee........i wish i was as Ard as you!
I think it's a matter of conditioning....
I was brought up on Hammer House horrors from a very early age (my mum was a fan) and now I take even the goriest in my stride. In fact, most of todays hold no scare appeal to me.
Mrs C. on the other hand had a fairly sheltered upbringing and consqequently she's scared sh1tless at the slightest hint of horror. Mind you, having me sneaking into the shower with a carving knife and hockey mask - I think she's getting used to it! :giggle:

Hostel was OK and the premise was OK but the same film could have been a 25 minute 'short'

That would mean taking all the tit-shots out for the first part of the film and just leaving the funny bits at the end - or were you just thinking of making it a 25 minute tit-shot compilation lol
The original black and white The Haunting......no blood no gore.....and not to be watched on your own at night!
depends on the horror film fo rme
i adore vampire and warewolf films
hostel is the only film that has made me physically wretch but i had to watch it to the end just to prove to myself i could

Now, this is what I don't get!
Both Den and I loooove the saw films, we haven't seen 3 yet, but will do!
We thought hostel might be along the same lines, and goriness-wise it probably is, so I don't know why I found it so sickening!
Most horror films do give me a bit of a giggle, although i'm not so keen on psychological thriller types......

Yep me too Minxy.
But pick your companion carefully. Mine usually waits till he sees I'm engrossed in the film then gives me a huge fright by screaming at me and grabbing me :scared:
He's really not a very nice person sometimes rolleyes
As for horror books, Richard Laymon is the best  Sick, but the best!

What a git, come here and i'll look after you with my protective duvet wink
I saw Hostel with a girl from work (we were the only ones in the cinema) and TBH we both though it was crap!
Long, drawn out story that I guessed from about the 3rd scene, the only good bit was that the "honeytraps" weren't too hard on the eyes. :rascal:
Saw I enjoyed (but again sussed before the "twist". Saw 2 was more gore than plot, so was a bit of a lot-down for me?
Has anyone seen Audition? :eeek:
