Deathwatch (an excellent cast, unusual location (WWI trench), and the kid from Billy Elliot gets blown up on the DVD extras)

That was such a good film, unusually creepy and definitely a departure from the norm for a horror!

As a kid i used to sneak down to landing and look through the bannisters to watch Hammer House of Horrors, of which some i still remember!
rolleyes

Me too! Anyone who's too young or too old to have done that really missed out! :eeek:
I'm planning to see Saw 2 over the weekend, I really enjoyed the first one so I hope the sequel will be as good!
Ghost stories do it for me,
Has anyone seen
The woman in black !
FFS !   that scared the bejesus outa me i can tell ya confused :?
I love the old black and white type of Horror films biggrin
I really, really dont like the Nightmare on Elm street ones
Two of my favourites have to be Van Helsing, and Army of Darkness :D
As a kid I watched an old black and white Vampire film. When Dracula disolved, because someone had opened a curtain, it scared the bejesus out of me
There was also a 'true' scary tales series down here years ago, about local ghost stories. For ages after, I was always looking over my shoulder, and peering around doors in case something was going to get me lol

Was it Titanic by any chance?

You taking the piss? lol
Titanic...pah, nowt scary in that, it's all bloody lovey dovey!
biggrin
I absolutely love horror films - a huge fan, and I have never been particularly scared of any in the past...but for some reason The Grudge scared me to death and a long time after watching it at the pictures I could imagine the scary girl in the film climbing my stairs!
I watched a few minutes of it when it came on the TV last week, but couldn't watch the whole thing. Don't ask me why that one was the scariest I have seen.......it just affected me in some way. confused Spooky!

I've not heard of The Grudge before, is it this one you're referring to?
I've also thought of a couple that should never have been left off my list of favourites: Dust Devil and Demon Knight .

It is a ridiculous fear - on telly the other week, well I didn't actually see anything cos was on me computer in here. But heard some scary music, that little girl singing thing :uhoh: ......... have no idea what the program was, could've been Playschool for all I know, but had to walk in the lounge without looking at the telly, coughing and singing so I couldn't hear it and turn it over confused

I heard that advert thing....can't remember what program it was for now but it sent shivers down my spine!
The film I'm scared of had a little girl in it, she looked a bit like my little sister to be honest.
Sometimes I will be doing something at work and I'll suddenly have this picture in my mind of this little girl trying to climb out of a well or climbing out of a TV screen....sounds quiet funny written down actually, but its not!
I think there is a little bit of a common theme here - when little girls are in films it seems it makes it somewhat more scary?

Yes thats the one.......you should watch it and see....its creepy stuff hun!! (as is the japanese version too!)
x
I love all the late 70's early 80's horror films, (Evil Dead, Madman, Texas Chainsaw,,etc,,etc) can remember watching them all as a kid, before they were given cirtificates.... Now i think i have seen too many and get a bit cynical when watching 'The new shocker'..... My Scariest moment?.... The end of Friday 13th when Jason leaps out of the water and grabs the girl from the boat.., all this time of seeing it over and over and that little bugger still makes me jump!!..
I prefer films with a good plot. Horrors unless they are good dont ever scare me theres worse out on the street. I used to watch all the old Hammer House of Horror years ago when i was a kid and the new ones are just gore not plot.
I have been to movies to watch a horror film and when everyonbe screams I laugh. I just think most of the are jokes.
The effects of the last few Japanese movies remade in america have been good, ie ring but not scarey... Must be something wrong with me
You simply cannot beat The Evil Dead films worship
Blair Witch made me shit meself though :uhoh: :scared:

Jaws
Yes I know, not really a blood and gore film, but even now, I hesitate when paddling in the sea. As soon as I dip my little pinkie in the water that music starts in my head

Ends up a complete waste of time, cos just snorkelling around in tight circles making sure a shark isn't behind me rolleyes Either that or I'm practically running on water, in me flippers, trying to get back to shore
When I was young, a friend and myself watched it and the day after went swimming.....
of course, as were doing lengths in the pool, it comes up in the conversation,,,,edgy looks to the darkened shadowed areas of the pool etc........carry on........................and a swimmer who had his head down touched my mates foot by accident lol
He must of gone at least a foot out of the water and grabbed the attention of everyone inside an olympic swimming pool complex
I almost drowned laughing
I can watch anything but those that do cause me problems are anything showing shipwrecks and underwater....I start gulping for air! I think I must have drowned in my last life for the affect it has on me!
Oh, and I won't watch anything containing nasty violence..........there's too much pain and suffering in the world today without trying to glorify it.

OMG......I am absolutely terrified of sharks....and I think mainly because of the Jaws films and any other shark films that have been around, like Deep Blue Sea and Open Water...... there was one spotted in the North Sea not long ago.......no more paddling for me now!! confused
I love horror movies I can watch them over and over but there is one film that I hate the most called " The Others" scared the shit out of me, wont watch it again

You should watch the original
Picture the scene ... you're in the small lounge at about pm, curtains undrawn ..... your wife has chosen to watch Halloween (the original) (a film that she has seen a million times and virtually knows the script too) and is in the other lounge with the portable tv on .... you don't like jumpy films but what the hell ....
So you've settled into the film and it isn't as bad as you think ..... the music builds up so you know something is going to happen but you're not quite sure what ....... you get a bit nervy, and can feel your heart begin to race a bit, your wife is quiet in the other room and hasn't shouted any warnings so it can't be too bad !
All of a sudden, with the music building up and building up, you jump out of your skin as something bangs on the window outside, shaking the glass and loud enough to wake the dead itself ..........
Was it a ball, or something being thrown?
Nope ... it was your wife, having lurked just long enough to pick up the film outside, scaring the crap out of you for a joke
:giggle:
you then hear giggles from the other room and verbally lambast her for scaring you and threaten to turn the film off if she does anything so stupid!
Later on, wife already sound asleep in bed, you climb into bed and turn the light out, lie back take a deep breath ready for sleep to come, all is peaceful and silent, until said wife silently but quickly grabs hold of you and goes ......
Muhahahahahahaha !
At which point the ceiling looks very close!!!!!!!!
  rotflmao
That is the story of why horror films are no longer allowed in our house

Evil Dead three is a hoot
Cx
bloody Evil Dead they are comedy films arnt they biggrin
mind you was scary the first time i watched them but i was only about 15 years old watch the first one a few weeks ago and was just funny
If you like Japaneese horror try A tale of Two sisters and The Eye, v good. Nothing really scares me but can't stand Teen Horror flicks they are so dull, although House of A thousand corpses made me giggle.
i do remember sneaking a film on as a kid which my dad tried to hide (alright not one of his smutty ones)
i watched the film "i spit on your grave"
made me respect women and not cross them for the rest of my life !
i love........ hammer horror........ films romantic gothic men seduceing virginal women
interview with a vampire ...drool
dracula..............slobber
blade...........dawn of the dead
not really in to slash n guts films they bore me .......seem one mutilated body seen them all
I read a lot of horror novels and as a teenager spent many years with the bedroom curtains open, so if a vampire came for me I could see him before he got in the window... loon
I can watch zombie films without batting an eyelid, it's the ones that have the physchological factors that freak me out confused Plus I always check the backseat of my car after seeing 'Urban Ledgend'. mad
Now I have a thing about axe-murderers, after reading too many true crime stories-I think it is the single most horrific way to be murdered  I was laid in bed last night with the bf, it was windy as hell and the letterbox kept flapping, so he says to me in a sleepy voice, " Mad axe-man is at the door babes, can you let him in cos I am sleepy?" :fuckinghell: I ask you? I had to fly out of bed and put the lamp on, shut the bedroom door and put the chair against it-meanwhile he is in a fit of hysterics at my reaction :x :x ( a punch in the ribs took the smile off his face tho ;) )
Minx x x
P.s After typing that out I had to get up and check all my doors and windows and put all the lights on...

It's about as stimulating and exciting as having sex with an unresponsive woman. Also ends with the same level of dissappointment and anti-climax

Nothing wrong with a bit of comedy thrown in with the horror
very true, dusk til dawn was comedy horror, but army of darknesst was actually made as just a comedy.
