very true, but it was actually made as just a comedy.

Yup, still great though. Apparently there's talk of a fourth Evil Dead being made biggrin :D :D

Best horror b-movies : The Evil Dead trilogy.
Bruce Campbell is a legend. 'Gimme some sugar baby' cool

Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!
but army of darkness was more of a comedy...i just pi55ed myself at that one.
So were Braindead, Tremors, and The Frighteners, at least in places. Dog Soldiers goes some of the way there with cheesy one-liners, but then again that's pitched as a crossover war film with werewolves rather than a straight horror.
Horror and comedy, especially black comedy (difficult to have any other kind in a horror film) can work very well together, as pure horror films can get a bit intense (Dust Devil is a good example of this, it's grim and bleak from start to finish, mostly filmed in the middle of the Namib desert, and doesn't have a happy ending).
I think it's also time for an honourable mention for Shaun of the Dead, a classic rom zom com (probably the only rom zom com).
now braindead is in a class of it's own.......
the vision of kevin and the flap of skull, where he keeps loosing his brain...fantastic,

Errr...
That's Bad Taste, not Braindead. wink
Braindead is the one with the lawnmower scene and the Peter Jackson cameo as a mortuary technician.
Jack Nickleson in The Shinning very creepy:
Here Johnny!

Racking my brain here, is Braindead the Aussie film confused: He uses the lawnmower in the hallway, is that right :?:

I love horror films now but I get very freaked out by werewolves, I still close my eyes at the scene in Dracula where he's in wolf form with Lucy (urgh) and even Teen Wolf is a no no!!
Apart from that, very little scares me although I won't watch Salem's Lot after seeing it as a kid

so I assum u like your men cleaned shaved then? biggrin
btw excorcist scared the crap out of me, tho was only 7 or so at the time!

Well I remember seeing the beginning of a film called "Pranks" when I was about 12. Before the credits had even rolled, there wasa chase through a corn field or something, the person being chased fell over and someone put a knife in the ground, between their splayed fingers and then pulled back so it went right through their hand :scared: I was sent to bed then and have never had the guts to even try to find that film since.
I'm more scared by the psychological stuff that "could happen". Gory movies don't really do it at all. Watched "Creep" a couple of weeks ago. Set on the London Underground and more "eurgh" than "eek" - same with Cabin Fever.... gore for gore's sake and not particularly scary.
Sci-fi horror films though.... :scared: All of the Alien series has the ability to grip me while it's on, but give me nightmares after I've watched it, and Event Horizon. I've never believed that of all the planets in the universe, ours is the only one that's inhabited. Films like these scare me because, in my mind, something like that could really happen at some point. Where's the "shudder" emoticon? :scared:
Has anyone seen the film " the curse of Debbiewebbs" :scared: :scared:
Scary as hell bolt

Almost, it's New Zealand rather than Australia, but everything else is spot on.

Cheers for that DP biggrin
Am I right in thinking, the film that had more blood in it, than any other film made :?:
When we lived in the Midlands, we had a great video shop, with loads of B movies, so as you can guess i borrowed loads of them :D Also had a nice lady who worked in there, but of course that had nothing to do with it lol
'The Hitcher' with Rutger Hauer freaks me out. It's done without monsters or special effects. It's the feeling of it.
I didn't particuarly like watching that recent film about the couple left behind while scuba diving. Anything where people are left alone in the middle of the ocean with no escape. creeps me out.

IMDB agrees with you on the blood front - apparently in the lawnmower scene they were spraying around five gallons per second.
never quite got over 'The Devil in Miss Jones' myself - that Georgina Spelvin was scary!!!!!
