Why is it you wait months for an appointment then when u get it its miles away.
I dont drive as yet which doesnt help. Also...why is it they give you stoooopid appointment times, 2:30 pm, do they think everyone has sitters to pick their children up from school ?? Bloomin typical huh.
***Gives up*** dunno
2:30? I didn't realise it was a dental appointment
It aint lol....It's a hospital one sad
I want that avatar right this minute.
I live about a 30 min drive from glasgow but in the morning it takes you about an hour to get tehre and I got an appointment for the hospital in a few days ago for Glasgow Royal at 8:30 am
Yeah I guessed that Tigger, it was a joke wink
Which avatar....the Tigger one or the MadCat one ??
The tigger one. Aww I love tigger, Piglet, Wiine the Pooh, but eeyore is my fav...
And i know i know, Im a big kid but they are soo cute.
Ok gonna put one on just for u lill-miz smile
The thing I hate most about appointments is when you get there about 10/15 minutes early and they don't see you until about 30 minutes after your appointment.
I know the feelin chelms. By my reconing im not gonna get home till 6 pm ish maybe later.
I got the letter today and the appoinment id next TUESDAY !!!!! eeeeeeeeeeek that dont gimmie much time to arrange things mad
The dentists make me laugh is when you may need a filling(in your mouth that is)and they put those contraptions inside your mouth and then start talking and asking you how you are and are you going away on holiday etc.
Then after the treatment they give you that pink drink to swirl around and say you can spit it in the sink and I always seem to get mine on the floor lol.
At our hospital you can,t get a parking space for love nor money, and when you do you have to pay mad
Can some one do me a favour and pm scandal and tell him im not talking to him until he posts? :rascal:
Chelms I know what you mean, and I hate it when the assisstant stares at you to make sure your alright and your slavouring away like a baby. redface
LOL How come u get pink !!! mines green when i go...makes me wanna barf :upset:
Most of these hospitals now have to charge as shoppers try to use them as free car parks, but if you have a valid appointment there should be a way you get space for free whilst you are in the hospital
Lil_miz_naughty - Is that a pic of you in stockings or not?
Either way very nice indeed.

the appointment which is miles away generally indicates that your being refered to a certain hospital which specialies in your particular ailment which your local general hospital has no particular specialised facillities to treat such as certain scanning machines to give the tecchnicians or Drs a clearer better idea of what your problem is .
as for the 2-30 appointment time if the appointment time if its running late its usually either people before you are late or the specialists or Drs have been busy with other patients or usually your particular specialist clinic runs from a certain time rather from the usual 9 to 5 times as these Drs or specialists usually have several clinics a day involving different procedures such as a basic examination right down to studying complex ct scan results ,echocardigram results ,ultrasound results, blood test results ect ect then eliminating certain probabilities of what your problem is to obtain a correct diagnosis rather than rush the treatment so people can be home as soon as possible after all its your health theses doctors and technicians are looking out for so surely waiting an extra hour or two now and again wont kill you will it where as not seeing theses specialists with all the test results may !!
Hmm ... dentists. I love my dentist. :smitten: Have been to her for years. Has never overcharged, could always get an appointment (if in an emergency) and amazingly relatively painless (the dentalwork i mean !!). I'm afraid I have to side with the "pink" swirlers on this one.
Best to get ill in France.
This year we were in France and Maureen needed treatment. We saw a doctor within and hour and she referred us to the local hosptial where we were seen immediately. Also we were treated with respect and the hospital doctor insisted we call him Patrick. Honest, and he was looking deep into Maureen's eyes when he said it. I thought maybe they wanted to be left alone.
Best of all, we used our E111s and, although we had to pay upfront, we got almost all the cost of treatment back.
Grrr!! Don't mention hospitals to me mad
During the last 15 months, I have had umpteen appointments with doctors at three different hospitals.
Each hospital in in a different health authority region, taking me anything from 15 minutes to almost two hours just to get there! sad
Waiting times for the actual appointments are not bad really - mostly only had to wait around 20 mins past my due time.
The thing I find most infuriating is the parking! My local hospital parking is very good and there are plenty of alternative parks if the hospital one is full.
Salisbury hospital parking is a nightmare, with my last visit giving me over a mile to walk from the park to the hospital evil
However, I have to say, Southampton General takes the prize for their car park. Not only do you have to queue up sometimes for over two hours to get in there, they then charge minimum, regardless of the time spent actually parked there - in my case about 45 mins!!! :x :x
Hope no one who works at either of these hospitals is reading this forum. As I have to have an op in both of them, don't want to piss off the staff or they'll be feeding me cold porridge every morning

i agree with the parking issue at hospitals but there are a few factors to consider here , firstly the majority of hospitals were built many years ago when there were fewer cars on the road so less space to park cars, and as for paying to use the car parks it is a way to increase revenue to re invest back into the hospital or health authority ..
when you go shopping at the big modern shopping centres you pay a minimum fee to stay there then an hourly rate but people dont moan about that do they ...

No they don't, but they also don't have to pay a minimum of either. Shopping centre car parks cost 50p an hour, but since these are also subsidised by the local council and retailers, they can't really be compared to hospital car parks, which are not subsidised by council taxes.
Whilst I agree that revenue is gained from the parking system, and I would be happy to pay it if I thought it would be re-invested into the parking system itself. For sure many hospitals were built a long time ago when people didn't have so many cars, but since most of us do now have them and choose to use them, why don't they try a little lateral thinking and invest in more multi-level car parks?
Surely it would be good business - more levels = more cars = more revenue? confused
Revenue gained from the car parks is not invested back into health care - it is used for *car parking facilities* and *ground maintenance* according to our local hospital annual budget report.
Health care revenue is funded entirely differently.

i agree with a multi storey car park system at hospitals but logistically it wont work basically its down to not enough space in the hospital grounds and mainly the outlay of lots of money which will take a long time to recoup and even you have to pay alot of money to park there surely it is worth that to get you to the hospital to make sure your health is being cared for

Well done on standing up for the hozzies, Guy4Fun.
I know it's a pain when you have to go but for most people it's not a regular occurance. For those of us that it is a more frequent trip, you soon learn that Park & Ride or park in the shoppers car park and get a taxi works out cheaper and less stressy.
Even with disabled badges on my car, unless I know the hozzy well, and has been said, you have to go to so many different ones, I try and use alternatives to the hospital car park.

Hospital appointments are more than a little inconvenient as is getting there, parking and all the rest. Perhaps the only blessing in disguise being *free medical for cronically ill patients (or not, if the case may be) which the people in less developed countries would more than die for* confused

especially for dave notts , sorry for missing out the full stops, hopefully those above will compensate for the ones missing.
