I got a call from a couple of the lads that work for me today, refusing to go back into the house due to it being unfit to work in, well with the house being a short distance from where i was working, i told them to sit tight, and id pop down to personaly judge the tricky situation, due to it being part of quite a large contract.
I arrived at the house which was a quite modern detached property with a brand new car sat on the drive, As i knocked on the door and then entered, the smell hit me square in the face, old food on the floor, thick dust everywhere, dirty desgarded cloths all over and ill not go into too much detail regarding the wc and bathroom, needless to say, as soon as i left after telling the lads to take the gear back to the warehouse, i headed straight for a shower, and all the clothes went straight in the washer.
Brand new car, massive flatscreen tv and hi-fi and ( sorry to use this expression ) a shit hole, and the son of a company director.
Im just waiting for his Dads phone call tomorrow, which should be interesting. anyone had an experience like this

Hey up it isn't my mate by any chance, no seriously his house sounds exactly the same and his old boy brought it him, i wont go round, at the end of the day he is a wicked mate but when it comes to having a takeaway or even going round on a lads nite in, i give it a widebirth, he dosen't see it, and no wonder he has problems with keeping relationships. Was thinking bout getting those two women off channel four to go around and clean it up! (forgot the name of the program)

My mother and father-in-law once had to move out so a clean up team could go in. They found an entire roll of carpet, indoors, under trash, enough to carpet a 20x15 ft room......you know what? I`m not even going to attempt to go into the rest confused Suffice to say it was bad.
Mind you, mine`s pretty shit too redface

After seeing some of the places people live in from that TV program with the 2 cleaning ladies ... I can't say I'm too amazed by what you describe ... it is frightening to think people can bear to live like that
I used to call for a lad on the way to school and one morning his dog peed on the windowsill. I mentioned it to his mother she just shouted at the dog and a fortnight later the pee had just dried to a yellow stain, they cant have cleaned up at all, they were really filthy. I think it starts with being lazy because even if you dont have much money and not many material things you can still keep what you have clean.
Well after being a visiting officer for the DSS that place sounds like a palace!! - you soon learn not to sit on soft furnishings!!!
p.s not a dig at anyone on the Benefits, but there are some real sh*tholes i''ve been in!!

Just as bad in the private sector. Dirty buggers cross all classes of life

Thats down to personal standards not money :!:
The guy Wilkie was on about must have money but is just a lazy/scruffy twat & no excuse. I was an army wife & had to do "handovers" carried out with white gloves on. I always passed with flying colours biggrin
Ive been so strapped for cash I smoked rollies but my house was still clean!
I did flip my lid once, I moved from england to germany, we were sent pre advace party (the first ones to go ) I arrived to a shit hole! it was minging! The front room looked like someone had done an oil change on a bike in there, & when they got served dinner it was too hot so they threw it & it hit the ceiling  I cant tell u how dirty it was! the kitchen floor was a dark grey  until i put bleach on it! it was white!
I had spent the last 2 weeks cleaning absolutly everything ( in the army u have to open the pvc windows & clean there too!) & the estate warden came round, cocky kind of guy confused & said "what do u think?"
I didnt kill him but said that if I put shit on every wall before I left it would still be better than when I too k it & couldnt believe they had passed a handover!
Ok i now know ive gone in rant mode redface
i served my apprentship with the local council but you could normally tell what you were in store for by looking at the garden lol.
So many disgusting places and it's soooo hard to refuse the numerous offers for tea lol
Money is no substitute for cleanliness/hygiene.
That guy sounds like he should belong in a zoo.
We used to have a property we let out, in the end we sold it at a loss cause we got so fed up of having to go in and fumigate it after the tenants had moved out!

I am on benefits m8, I dont have a s**thole home tho, but i do recall a house when I was working for a national replacement window company, I was sent to the house, and yes they did order worth of new windows, but when I left after a 1 hour visit I did have to wipe my shoes on the grass outside to remove the sticky residue, also i couldnt go to my next apointment as I needed to change my suit and take a shower
Its not down to money or class at all, its down to bad habbits when its actually "grime" and "filth."
My house is dishevveled, dusty, and ends up with dried mud in it when laddo brings his bike in, and I'm lazy and hate tidying up so things like papers and prints do tend to get dumped on free surfaces, lol. But food type dirt is always cleaned up and I do the washing up every day :lol, but its little things like clothes that get dried on a stand end up on the bottom of the stairs and tend to stay there till needed (my mum would have a fit at that, lol)
There are times when I feel like just dumping things that are not really used like the dining table as we tend to eat watching the telly... and all the little things I've acumulated over the years that are only ever needed the day after they get thrown in the bin confused and going for the minimalist look but I would hate to loose my books as its one passion that has lasted since childhood... perhaps my collecting things is down to having very little as a child (all say awwwww, lol) so everything has a sentimental value and I still equate its value with what I paid for it, not its current worth.
Know this scene very well used to do emergency wiring for local council, lost count of how many flats or houses i've refussed to work in. Cant always tell from gardens though, found a couple with perfect gardens and paint work outside but complete s**t holes inside.
