Hi, for those of you that dont know me Im called PLUM, although on the chat everbody knows me as Dlep.
Over the last couple of nights a few of us on the "nightshift" have noticed that there are certain people who dont follow the rules or are generally a pain in the bum...
When this is the case there arent any mods or ops around to sort things out....which is understandable as even Mods and ops need to sleep....But it is becoming distracting when there are a few disruptive elements spoiling the fun for everybody else...
There fore I was wondering if it was possible to apply to become a mod or op so that the "nightshift" is covered too. I realise that it is a big responsiblity and that the fact that Ive only been here a while might go against me, but it would be great if the organisers of the site or the senior mods/ops would consider it. There are other members on the "nightshift" who would consider it too...that way chat is monitored (nearly, if not) all the time.
Hopefully Ive gone about this the right way, as I wasnt sure how to go about this....

Hi there I don't think bein a mod or op as you put it depends on the length of time that you have been in the chat room. I do think ( I may be wrong) feel that it has something to do with being able to moderate in a just but also firm manner (warn if offenders still persist, boot their sorry arse's 
) If the mods are aware of you then I am sure you would have with this post created a discussion for or against you becoming a mod. Hope it all works out in the end. Where everyone is happy.

hi Dlep.... totally agree with you ... some of the stuff that some :censored: was saying directed towards tulip last night was well out of order.... my hubby is an op on some other channels and was chomping at the bit to get on pc...... had to remind him he ain't an op on here 
Seems to be that you need someone around 24/7 with the power to boot and ban if necessary ... if only just to warn the nutters they'll be banned .. hubby says sometimes thats enough .
Hope it gets sorted so as not to spoil the fun for others.

Im sorry that Tulip and any others had to take abuse of any1 last nite while there was no ops in....if some one would care to send me the names and if some1 has any logs of the abuse could u please send them as well.
Peeps just think we are here cos we luv the status but actually we are here to protect the likes of Tulip and wot happened to her. No1 and i mean No1 shud have to endure any grief on this site wot so ever

ive often thought of becoming an OP but the way to get there is somewhat frightening.....
you have to pick an op at random and wrest their extra buttons from them......
this is usually done in time honoured fashion such as arm wrestling etc....
and i for 1 am not engaging bluexxx dawn_mids and angel_chat as my arm likes the position and angle it rests in at the moment.....

And as usual, the tossposts were in.

Many a true word ..... t'is the reason I refuse to ever be an op again. Whilst people think it's all about holding the buttons, there is a hell of a lot more involved and our mods(both here and in the chatroom) have an unenviable task.

Well look out for the MOD buttons then, but watch out for the ones where the "Banned" key looks a bit worn....... It means it IS worn and will probably fail the first time you go to use it, which can be a bit embarrassing if you've just told someone your going to ban them, and then you can't.
Also watch out for the ones that look like they have been chewed by a dog....... They won't have actually been chewed by Fido, or Spot or whatever, but by some chatroom op who's getting pissed off with having to repeat themselves over and over again

Oh David, David, David. You mention thick skins but I believe you have one of the thinnest I've seen. You've got to find the right datum here and work from that. Even then you won't get it right all the time. God there's times when I've really, really cringed at what I've done but generally people get past it and have a bit of fun. Some people think I'm a bit strange 'cos of it and others kinda like me. You've just got to accept both.

As one of the nightshift in the chatroom, I definately agree that are an awful lot of idiots who wouldn't last five minutes if there is an op in. We sometimes try to help them out, if they seem a little confused about the rules etc, but if they're just not getting it or ignoring the advice then we mostly we just laugh at them or ignore them!

David, just remember not to take this place too seriously, the humour is very sarcastic on here (and i probably am one of the main protagonists) but it's never meant in a bad way. yes we do jump on the occasional newbie who turns up and makes a total pillock of themselves, ignoring all advice, but the rest is usually between people who know each other very well. ease youself into it, you do seem like a nice bloke and i consider myself to be the same, just maybe my sense of humour is closer to that of the other regs. No problem, be yourself and people will like and respect you for that. other regs on here don't get into the sarcasm on here either yet this doesn't detract from their contribution to the site it just makes it a more rounded place. so relax and enjoy things and just be yourself.

they didn't start doing GCSE's till 1988, so how did Sarge get a mods job? he's ancient

an op would be good though... alexhannah was really good and tried to calm the guy down but he got it in the ear too...
they guy was ignored by all in the end, but he wouldnt stop the abuse and several peeps left the room cos of him...
you had to laugh though cos the guy couldnt even spell.... i think he was on drugs! and if he wasn't.. he should be
