To form an opinion on a topic or issue I believe the following!
By reading newspapers or watching the news is just an item or report based on that one person’s interpretations of that item or topic.
To gather ones own opinion is to question and listen to others views research such issues see whats happened before, gather facts from all sorts of resources only then in my opinion can we gathered enough facts to form our own opinion.
But I do find a lot of people are unable to gather their own opinion as they believe totally what they have read, or seen by a couple of resources.
But there are a lot here that have an opinion but keep an open mind, we read what others say and think.
I like to think others can help me change my opinion as we don’t know all the facts and sometimes what people say can make me see something in a different light that I haven’t thought of before.
We all form our opinions in different ways and we are all entitled to do so.

so how do you take someone who says " your entilted to your opinion, but mine is right"?

I start to form an opinion usually with an 'O' then follow it up with a 'P'(please Bob) then finish with a flourish using an 'INION'-ish sound. Add that to a bit of 'In my honest' and there you go, Sorted!
I guess my opinion is formed by assessing the evidence and the arguements known and coming up with what I believe to be a reasoned conclusion with the aid of a set of morals and ideas made up from lifes experience. Of course it all happens in the head at lightening speed

A lot of my opinions are based on life experiences. Are people seriously saying here that all newspaper articals and news programmes on the tv and radio are not true?
That is ludicrous to suggest such a thing. I make a balanced judgement, study it, and then make my opinion.....which by the way is always right.

well thats your opinion about opinion and you are entitled to it,reading or listening to an article is a form of gathering facts and points but agreeing or disagreeing with it is opinion but this view must be based on life experience, knowledge which at some point might change if you find out the different side of the story

Bloody hell. This is a joke thread, a word that you used many times. This seems like your reaction to another thread, where you made a statement and could or would not back it up. Sounds like sour grapes to me.
All people do to me anyway is run down the papers that I read...rags or toilet paper has been used. I can see the funny side of that, obviously you cannot.
You do not know me or have any ideas about MY sense of humour, some on here do. You really need to take a chill out pill and accept that your opinion or mine is wrong on occasions. Dont get the hump and then dig me out, because you are a tad upset with me.

If one opens their mind then opinions can change... but people hold steadfast for a number of different reasons... some of which defy logic!!

i agree with the first part... no one can always be right :wink: .... but i think you have to expand the final bit.
Facts can be tested... but an "opinion" is only another word for "interpretation" of what they actually tend to infer.
One fact on its own doesnt prove much... there needs to be a few together to support an , more than inference or interpretation is often possible based on any given (substantiated) fact.

Splendid we both know where this has come from. He has made his case very clear, and I am really not bothered what he thinks about me. I said what I said as a joke, and then he used the previous thread, to attack me.
I can handle that, this is cyber crap. What I do not like is someone then taking it a step further by pm'ing me away from the forum. He had also something about not replying in a minute, but using that time to think about his comments, well talk about not doing what you say you are going to do. :shock:
As for going down to my level, come and join me...it's nice and warm here.
Dont appologise Deecee, as it is not sincere,and if you cannot debate without slagging someone off, then may I make a suggestion and not post.
Of course this is always only my opinion. Also I do not hold grudges, and I hope Deecee we can put this behind us, and continue to discuss and debate and sometimes get a tad angry with each other, on other threads.
