How long did it take you to feel as though you were a regular in the forum? I still think of myself as new and naive and not a regular at all.
I have noticed though that my posting has changed from heart on sleeve type stuff to the more deliberate style, done so as not to make it easy to find holes in the topic etc so as not to get a postal thrashing. Shame really.
i still class myself as a newby even on the other account but maybe one thats just getting comfy!
i think my posting style has changed since i first joined but doesnt everybodies? As a new newby - We cant read peoples styles being new so read everything wrong answer silly posts with serious replies and vice versa
Still sometimes people dont get my humour but such is life lol but most reconise a serious post from me apposed to the silly ones

Lost.. you new?? :scared: I was really scared of you when I first started posting last year... you and a few others.
Can I just say also, you hear of newbies coming if they make comments that people don't agree with, "apparently" some of the regulars go down their throats. I don't agree with this.
When people are posting for their first few times, they don't know the etiquette in the forum therefore could say things to upset the applecart. They do get a raw deal sometimes, yes. SO DID I!!!! I said some pretty stupid things in the early days not really knowing people and I was roasted for it smackbottom ....BUT I'M STILL HERE!
So Lost, yes I now feel like a regular wink
this is a bit like beasting in the army or somthing ....... just because you got a roasting should it be the same for other newbies ....... perhaps a more open outlook on why somone was posting and some help is required ie links to other threads that have the same questions rather than'here we go again' attitudes ....... just an opinion

That's the second time in a week I have seen mention of a forum etiquette; the first time I was being ticked off for ignoring it, so I presume that I haven't learnt it yet, but that doesn't stop me posting! smile
I still can't judge what might be of interest. I have started threads which I have thought might run and run, and they fall flat; but then others of little consequence can do quite well. Not that it matters!
I still feel I'm quite new here, but some people feel like old friends. biggrin
You all know who you are kiss

to which you are entitled to.... wink
and
I didn't say the roasting was 'ok' or acceptable.. I just said it happened to me and I wasn't put off, I hung around. Maybe that's my nature, nothing really puts me off what I want to do. I didn't adopt the "here we go again" attitude I just spoke to a few people and realised a few things.
Phil....as for forum etiquette/rules whatever anyone wants to call it, it's like anything in life, it's quietly there, it happens, you can either choose to ignore it, or enjoy it.
If anyone has ever read "Debrett's Etiquette" they will know what I mean. Doesn't mean it's right, it's just there.
I dunno about the mister but I feel like I'm a half-regular of the forum. I hope this next bit comes out right redface but I do feel like the "unnoticed regular". I think that's just cos the majority of regulars have met one another dunno

Oooooooo we haven't!
I don't feel like a regular with so many new faces joining in - they don't know who's who anyway, so treat everyone the same. As it should be.
I still class myself as a newbie.
But I'm trying to get more involved! wink

i feel like a bit of a veteran.....i've seen so many people come and go....i can only count about a handful of people still here from when i started.
I feel like a newbie in forum too... :scared: ...... even though had a shortish previous SH life (p.k.a angel  )
have only posted a cpl on since was reborn Sherri. I had few heated words in past but you learn quick :notes: and soon find yourself involved and welcomed. Found it helps to not stay in one room in chat, have a wee wander around the chatworld say hi here and there.
You never know anything in life till you ask, read, watch or experience :jagsatwork:
kiss   to all newbies like me and regulars
I feel like I've been around a while posting only occasionally, so still feel like a beginner.
I did have a period of making more of an effort to post more often, but nobody seemed to take any notice of my posts so I have sort of given up.
I don't think many people know who I am and even want to know who I am either

absolutely true.... but then for example I see no difference between the forum regulars, and the chatroom regulars in there own little that respect......so i think it is definatly a whole site thing rather than just a forum thing.....
I have seen newbies treated badly in various parts of the site......the only difference between the chatroom and the forum, is that you have to think quicker in the chatroom......

I was a regular from day one lol Once I found the forum (after a few months of chat) I was addicted and posted like a good 'un!
After a long break (about a year and a half), I returned to find I hardly knew anyone which is both good and bad.
It was refreshing to see all these new characters but things weren't exactly how I remembered so I didn't quite feel like a proper reg, iykim?
Regular is another word for clique, right? bolt

I probably depends if you get out to meet folk much. If you are a "virtual" swinger, it may take more time.
Plim sad
i feel like a virtual stranger again around these parts...
most probably down to my own circumstances etc etc
but all the same... I still loaf around
