how was our first munch??

As you prob can tell im new to the forums but not to sh,,,
and i was thinking of going to a local munch a 'buddy'(if invited of course)
but, and theres always a but, im a lil nervous,
does everybody get like that on there first munch or is it just me being a big girl?

most are nervous...but i dont really know why.....i was at my first until people started to talk with me..... get to a munch.. its only really a "party".......... with no pressure...........
anyhow....... aren't you really christiano ronaldo..........???

I'm yet to do my first munch too :shock: It was going to be the Wigan one but circumstances dictate as norm so my first will be at Notts in January. I'm going to view it as a huge party with loads of flirting and hopefully, a diary full of contacts wink

....ok, maybe one or two then rolleyes

I've met a few people at socials before now so hopefully I'll find someone I know to hold my hand until I get into the swing of things ( no pun intended :giggle: )

Our first munch will be in Wigan - Yes, when you think too much it seems daunting, but overall very exciting too - Don't analyse it too much and just go with the flow :bounce:

Nervous wasn't the word for it, we nearly turned round a dozen times. In the end we just put on a brave face and hoped that they wouldn't be able to hear our knees knocking.
Ours nerves soon went when we arrived at the hotel before the munch to the cry of a certain man who shall not be named "I hope them tits are with us tonight". lol

No further nerves, a lot of friendly faces and 2 years on we are still friends with most of the people we met that night. kiss

I LOVED my first munch! biggrin

Yes, I was a bit nervous going through the door but we had met quite a few of the munchers at the afternoon drinks do, so it was more of a nervous excitement!!
We had been chatting to a couple of people on msn beforehand so felt quite relaxed that we would get on well with them and we did! :twisted:
All round it was a very enjoyable experience. I remember thinking that the evening passed very quickly and I didn't get to talk to everyone there but that still hasn't changed to this day!
I think because we only get to go to munches now and again, the novelty hasn't worn off and we still really enjoy them wink

I like munches! :D

I was briking it before hand but at the hotel i stayed in there was a pre munch drinks and that really settled things nicley and had a fanrtastic time at the munch meeting all the folks here. I cant get enough now and have two more munch/socials coming up soon.

I just love munches, but I still get very nervous before I get there, which is pretty silly as there is absolutely nothing to be nervous about. Think of them as a big party, a bit like a new years eve party.
I think it was Pololady who described them as a family wedding party ie all these people whose names you know, but you have just not got round to meeting yet wink

Teachme, if you get the chance, go to a munch, at least then you can make your own mind up about them :wink:

Hello,
I'm new here (hubby is away) and its really reassuring to hear people get nervous.
We have not done anything / gone anywhere yet (other then get scared off by creepy fat blokes up Crickley Hill) so Its nice to know that i'm not just being sissy.

My first munch was a blur.
I can't say I was nervous but the munch organiser was really helpful by giving me someone to do (thank you Sarah kiss

) Plus the fact that I knew a lot of people from the forum having spent a lot of time here. That's what really makes a munch fun - meeting people you know in a different guise so to speak.
That said there is a possibility that upset can be caused by people who do not understand the boundaries of behaviour and so another component of success is to make sure you understand precisely what's allowed and what is not.

I was very nervous for my first munch redface

I know I had a couple of drinks before I went drinkies

I was really nervous for the next couple of munches after that but not any more.
Now I know its just going down the pub with a group of mates, only some of them I haven't met yet.
How long till Wigan dunno

But seriously Sassy, I was terrified for the first ten minutes....after that I felt a lot better.....mainly due to all the attention I and the other newcomers got (not all like that I hasten to add), people make it a high priority to make newcomers as welcome as possible. I was made me very welcome and I was determined I was going to see as many people as I possible could.
However, be warned.....Munches are addictive. My first one was in January this year and so far I've been to 15, and still have 2 left to go to this year. And I'm not even a Munch Whore.....more like an apprentice really lol
