Ive decided to get myself checked. I've been very careful to be safe with my partners yet it would be nice to be able to say with 100% honesty that I don't have anything. What would be the best way you to about gettting checked for everything?
T's good that you want to.
Make an appointment with a GUM clinic. You can find out where you're local one is by either going to your doctor and asking, searching the or other practical things like this.
As it will be your first time with them they will give you a good going over. You can request a full checkup and the likes over the phone or in the appointment room.
Contact your local STD clinic. Its a long day. Get there early if you can. They can test for common STD and STI on the day and let you know. You have to wait about a week to find out about HIV and any other advanced stuff.
You are given an anonymous ID number and this is how you are called and referred to.
They do a good job but its a long process of waiting.
Hello mate, london whitechaple std clinic is about 5 mins turn right out of the a big clinic, and you dont realy have to wait that long,i think you can walk straight in and dont have to worry about
In my youth I had been a guest of the Bristol Royal Infirmary's clinic which was fine, and as Harry said I met a few of my customers in there, (I was 27 and ran a night club).
However for my second visit twenty years ago when I was very married, after a moment of slightly risky enthusiasm in a foreign massage joint I paid privately at some clinic in London. Much more discreet and much less sitting around on display. It cost me £60 then, probably a ton now. (I was clear and expected to be I just wanted someone to tell me so as I don't handle worry very well).
As I recall I got the place out of that London What's on mag, the name escape me right now. Depends the level of openness that you're happy with.
I was at Paddington a few months ago. So it may just have been a really busy day.
I nearly went to Whitechapel. So good to know what's out there.
I think the government should make the clinics a bit more sociable. Its the ideal place to meet people who are clear of infections.
Clinics tend to be full of angry and really worried people. So it would help to create a whole new approach to the process of getting tested.
local hospital round here does it, just ring for an appointment (be patient, it takes for ever) and then they'll take some details and as the guy above says they can either deal with you with an anonymous number (but dont forget it!!!) or by your name.
If you make an appointment at least you won't be waiting around all day and results come quite qucik usually.
