Ive decided to get myself checked. I've been very careful to be safe with my partners yet it would be nice to be able to say with 100% honesty that I don't have anything. What would be the best way you to about gettting checked for everything?
T's good that you want to.
Make an appointment with a GUM clinic. You can find out where you're local one is by either going to your doctor and asking, searching the or other practical things like this.
As it will be your first time with them they will give you a good going over. You can request a full checkup and the likes over the phone or in the appointment room.
This should help mate:

and don't go in skulking  .. they tend to have a very positive attitude to people like yourself that get checked as a matter of course rather than as a result of having to go biggrin

Most large hospitals have clinic which will check you out, sometimes without an appointment. I had occasion to go to one about 20 years ago as I had a case of 'spotty dick'. It turned out that I was allergic to the lubricant on a certain brand of condoms. Phew.
The one thing that did surprise me was the number of people I knew, who were sitting in the waiting room. lol
Just a thought, you could get yourself 'checked' and 'mated' if you play Chess. wink

Hiya smile We as a couple in the swinging scene think its important that we have a check up at least every six months ( 20 years is a tad long lol) It is very easy to book an appointment and I do believe that ALL clinics are now in the front of every BT phone book in the information pages, or failing that they are definitely in the Hospital section.
Please DON'T think about it, DO it, it is after all for your own piece of mind aswell as any others you may be thinking of swinging with . Ok we know condoms can provide SOME protection but ( and this has been pointed out many times on here before) there are not many people , either males or females that would use a condom for oral activities.
yep can only echo the others, local clinic's at virtually every big hospital, and they are very good and very understanding... i got checked last year and all clear, mind you that was an urgent need, i'd been by a couple of guys who didn't bother with rubbers. rolleyes own fault, led myself into it.

 oooh......oooh.......I've seen this on telly.
get some sticky back plastic.
cut out loads of squares about 50mmx50mm
stick one square onto body.
now stick another square onto body with the tip of the corner touching the previous squares corner tip.
continue sticking squares onto body making sure that only the very corners are touching.
Lay in sun
remove sticky squares the next day

Actually 20 years ago wasn't the last time I was checked out for STD's. I regularly attend the local clinic. On top of that, between visits I give blood which is checked out for HIV. That works out at one check of one sort or another every three months.

Contact your local STD clinic. Its a long day. Get there early if you can. They can test for common STD and STI on the day and let you know. You have to wait about a week to find out about HIV and any other advanced stuff.
You are given an anonymous ID number and this is how you are called and referred to.
They do a good job but its a long process of waiting.
Hello mate, london whitechaple std clinic is about 5 mins turn right out of the a big clinic, and you dont realy have to wait that long,i think you can walk straight in and dont have to worry about
In my youth I had been a guest of the Bristol Royal Infirmary's clinic which was fine, and as Harry said I met a few of my customers in there, (I was 27 and ran a night club).
However for my second visit twenty years ago when I was very married, after a moment of slightly risky enthusiasm in a foreign massage joint I paid privately at some clinic in London. Much more discreet and much less sitting around on display. It cost me £60 then, probably a ton now. (I was clear and expected to be I just wanted someone to tell me so as I don't handle worry very well).
As I recall I got the place out of that London What's on mag, the name escape me right now. Depends the level of openness that you're happy with.
I was at Paddington a few months ago. So it may just have been a really busy day.
I nearly went to Whitechapel. So good to know what's out there.
I think the government should make the clinics a bit more sociable. Its the ideal place to meet people who are clear of infections.
Clinics tend to be full of angry and really worried people. So it would help to create a whole new approach to the process of getting tested.
local hospital round here does it, just ring for an appointment (be patient, it takes for ever) and then they'll take some details and as the guy above says they can either deal with you with an anonymous number (but dont forget it!!!) or by your name.
If you make an appointment at least you won't be waiting around all day and results come quite qucik usually.

And if you're nervous of bumping into someone you know, you don't have to go to your local one. You don't have to give these folks any more details than you want.
There's a really great guide to visiting GUM clinics somewhere online, but I can't remember the link. No doubt someone else will post it...
