Try weaning her off the dummy - then you wont have to worry about losing it. biggrin
If 5 dummies have gone missing, it sounds like she is trying to get rid of them........have you tried her for a night without one.......you might be surprised.
This bank holiday is a great time to test the theory.......if not then at least you have a couple of days to get over it ...........and don't blame me lol
she is giving it to Father Christmas this year to give to a baby in return for her presents .......forward planning allready done rogerthedragon lol
Ok Nomad Soul you up for a spot of babysitting to test your theory out then lol
:uhoh:
I have two year old that is a dummy addict dunno . He hides them all over the house just in the way that secret alcoholics hide Vodka confused At one recent count after a house-tidy I found 16  , last week on a dummy hunt the count was 12 :uhoh: ... 6 were under his bed :? and 3 were behind a settee...... He even had a drawer in his colouring chest especially for them and right now there are 5 in there. He has three with him in bed (he always takes 3 :dunno: ). His faves are the doggy dummy and the two purple ones. He complains when they taste funny blink ) or if they don't feel quite right  . His 3 year old cousin is also a dummy addict and they discuss the pros and cons of certain dummies - they really do, I've heard them
I cannot complain, I had a dummy til I was 5 :lol2: , until Father Christmas took them away for babies who didn't have any on Xmas day
awww thanks Blue you made me feel better at least it's not just mine who hides em
My 2 year old has a dummy too...........and just keeps losing his. He puts it down when he doesn't want it then there is a frantic search around the house to find it when he does need it. I think dummies have a secret place they go to die, because I rarely find the ones he has lost.......I end up buying a new pack every week. I am sure if I have a good hunt around I will find hundreds!
I don't agree that if they lose or hide their dummies they are trying to get rid of them.......mine wouldn't be parted from his, I can't see him giving it up for a long long time.
confused

Our five year old is no problem as he has allways sucked his thumb and that is allways readily available biggrin
And yes before anyone asks he is doing his speech therepy exercises to stop the lisp rolleyes

You might want to book him in for the orthodontist too, with your daughter. Neither of my children had a dummy beyond 18 months and they both currently wear a brace on their teeth to line them up correctly because having a dummy made their teeth misaligned. My daughter's top teeth stuck out 8mm further than her bottom teeth (apparently that's an awful lot) and the orthodontist has said it was because of having a dummy.
I have found the dummy!!!!................... sarge get back in here your needed rotflmao bolt
sorry about that. biggrin ............... i am still finding dummies !..........and my youngest is 6......... she sucks her thumb now though.......... so she dont hunt them........i do not have to wash her thumb..and cut her thumb nailes now though :D

Personally, I think orthodontists will always find something wrong with kids teeth - if they didn't, what kind of income would they have?
To be honest. if an 8mm overbite is the worst thing your kids had to face in life, it wouldn't be that bad, would it?
I thought you were referring to two-legged dummies for a moment. redface surprisedops:
Got me there!
The next bit's written in invisible ink 'cos it's irrelevant now and you won't be able to read it:
I was gonna say there's a few sneak into SH Towers every now and then but I won't now.

Errrm.................back to RL innocent

Nope, it wouldn't, but the orthodontist has done far less than the dentist who referred my daughter originally, said would need doing. They don't do it for the sake of doing it, and there's always the option to say 'no' to anything they recommend.
oh thanks Frecklebird that has made me and so many other mothers feel so much easier !!!!!
Dummies and thumbs have been around for centuries and even our Prime Minister, Queen, Princes , Princesses etc had em and they caught no harm so I'm not worried about the dentist bill at the mo just finding the friggin lost dummies biggrin

 I'll just shut up then. Or go and do something other than seek dummies, because I can.

What they fail to tell you, is that this has distinct advantages when it comes to getting started on peeling an orange, a very good source of vitamins needed for a healthy diet. Having teeth realigned may be cosmetically desirable, but is putting people at risk because they can't get the skin off an orange these days.
If my bairn wants his dummy then he can have it.......I don't see a problem with that myself. I can't see that it would affect everyones teeth........my daughter had one till she was 4 and her teeth are perfect.
I often feel pressure from people to stop giving him it though.......but they can say what they like, as long as he is happy I am happy.
I only had a dummy till about 18 months.. Every dentist I have ever been to has said my teeth were fine.. Now at 35 I get told I've got mild retrognathia.. (Backwards displacement of the lower jaw) It basically means I've got a mild overbite.. I was told its genetic, so doubtful that dummys cause it...

rotflmao never sore you eating an orange!!!!.....you must have false teeth :eeek:
Having teeth re-aligned is a must now adays as is for every mother hunting the dummy unless you want your child screaming the house down and next doors and then in the middle of the night saying to your child ...........sorry mummy can;t find your dummy you go to sleep without it and expect them to believe it
yeahhhh right smile
