You really cant get that much in the back of a jeep cherokee to be honest.
I have a 406 estate and its the 2.1 TD, the engine before the HDI range, its torquey, with 110 BHP and a HUGE load space with the seats down but turns into a 4 / 5 seater in a matter of seconds.
Mine has done 109K and its still runing sweet, i have put 40K on it in the last 2 years with only £180 spent on a job i wouldnt do my self.
good roof rails as standard and a good range of roof boxes / crossbars to suit.
all in all a GOOD buy - watch it blow up on me tomorrow now!
You will pick up an R reg one like mine for 2K or less or an HDi one for not a lot more.

Also HSE states that unless specifically trained and certified you cannot work on LPG vehicles..

very true, glad you pointed that out, although, it does seem to be area specific to the cost or so i have found when looking for a specialist and cost has veried hugely.
not knocking LPG - just saying be wary
Have you thought about having a small trailer to carry the big stuff around? Need to have the space to park it, of course, and some decent security when it`s parked.
Whatever you buy, check the service history AND if there is any doubt whatsoever, GET THE ENGINE CAM BELT REPLACED. Will cost about £200 to get it done, but it`s peace of mind that this component will not fail and wreck the engine.
Well wineman I did post summat here for you late last night. Some info on a site. I had a few beers so came back this a.m to tidy up spelling and grammar. But its not here. How very odd.
