This is exactly what makes this great country crap at times.

These little ferel thugs should be locked up. But another bunch of useless Asbos handed out.
When are people going to realise that an Asbo does not work, and the only deterent should be a heavy punishment? Get the parents of these horrors into court as well, for where were they, when their " little angels " were causing people so much misery?
Bang em up until they can prove they can behave like human beings. I just think they are part of the long term useless, but these thugs are just the " norm " nowadays cos they know that they cannot be touched. I feel it is about time that they can be touched with a nice little spell in a young offenders institution. cool

You have the same right as anyone else to just walk on by. Nobody is either forcing you to read it, and certainly nobody is forcing you to reply to it.
This is a public forum where people can air their views IF they so require...which I do. What the heck is wrong with that? dunno

Your views are fine and I have never slated you for your comments, so I would expect the same from others. It is MY right to be able to express my views whether you or anyone else agrees or not. If I have broken the AUP in anyway, then am sure admin will let me know.
What I find really strange is how come they are right wing views fgs. Lets wrap everyone up in cotton wool and ignore the fact that this kind of behaviour is going on in most streets, lets just shut our eyes to it, in case it upsets the PC brigade. you have every right to a view....Kent... thou in this case I can not see what use locking up little kids..as you suggest, would do. All young offenders institutes do is teach the kids new ways to committ crime..and give them a network of other offenders for future refereance. What we have to try and do surely is give these kids an alternative to going round scratching cars and throwing bricks.

sorry but i back kent up in this, i had to move house after 12 month due to that sort of thing as a single parent with 2 kids i lived a nightmare had my windows bricked damage to my home a hammer put through my door window and one night 30 kids surrounded my car as i was driving and bricked it. never mind the damage to cars attending my swinging party wasnt nice at all!!!

I can only but sympathise with you West Brom.
Not talking about these things only helps to push them under the carpet, and I for one do not want that.
Yes I am aware that people do not want to hear about this stuff everyday but....a lot of people have to put up with this kind of thing everyday of their lives.
Maybe my views may be seen as " right wing ", but I would rather that, than to let these kids continue to ruin yes ruin lives.
I do not know what the answer is, but what I do know is sweeping peoples views under the carpet, is NOT going to make the problem better, or to go away. Maybe people want to do what some people suggest and reward the bad behaved kids with I Pods, if they behave for two weeks. For that is what some do, and the good kids get nothing in return for their good behaviour.
I may be a ranter or as someone said recently, an " Alf Garnett " lol

but I would rather that, than a person who shuts their eyes and walks on by, and does nothing. :lol:

I would really like to know where the parents were when their children were causing such havoc.
This wasn’t a one off incident they are saying over months, I just can’t understand how children can be so unruly and the parents are unaware.
In cases like this I feel the parents have failed, it is them Kent I would like to see beside their children on the pages of the papers.
Bring the parents to court with judge and jury and let them decide if they are guilty of failing their children, I am not saying all parents are to blame but we know a lot are to many open the door shove the children out for a peaceful life.
A judge and Jury I believe would be a fair system.
Locking the children up I do not believe is the answer

My heart really does go out to the people who are too terrified to go out of their houses of a night Minx.
Can you imagine what the people in that area had to put up with, before anything was done? The intimidation factor alone would terrify a lot of people.
Yes Minx if I was in power I would haul the parents up before a judge. Are the parents not responsible for their childs actions anymore? I thought they were with children this young. Fine the parents and see a lot of this stop. For when it costs the parents money, then and only then will a lot do anything about their childs behavour.

Whilst that solution would get them off the streets for the short term, we all know that they would be back again this time with more knowledge and more "friends" to help with the destruction.
Personally i moved from Medway to a rural area in part to escape that sort of attitude from kids because i couldnt bear the thought that my son might one day become like the kids i was having to carefully watch out of my window wondering what was going to happen next.
My personal opinion - you have to call the parents to account for their behaviour.
Unfortunately the law is now very much on the side of the kids and they know it. Lets say a child does something seriously wrong and mum threatens to "whack him round the ear" if he does it again. We all know the retort that most kids come back with now "Yeah do that and i'll call the old bill". If my mother ever had to resort to telling me she was gonna whack me round the ear then i knew i had done something wrong and had best not do it again or god help me when my father got home.
And for those PC ppl reading this - there is a big difference between disciplining a child and telling them where the boundaries are and beating a child so pls dont start harping on about child abuse.
Once upon a time (she says making it sound an eon ago lol) if u did something wrong as in the case of this pack of horrors, the local copper would have dragged ya home, had a word with the parents and the boy would u be marked for the rest of your duration. Sadly that has all gone by the by now so can we really be surprised that kids do wot they do.
Without the guidance of adults, children will turn into characters from "Lord of the Flies" and make their own rules. The problem lies with parents to make sure that the boundaries are set at an early age and to make sure that their child becomes a useful member of society instead of yet another brat who can scare a grown adult.
Would be interesting to know what the parents of this mob did during all of this.

I personally don’t think whether we are right wing left wing or whatever wing should make a difference here. It is about the incident involved that should be up for discussion.
Kent you said lock the kids up, can you not see that would not do them any good in the long term?
I don’t sit and right letters I give up my time volunetree to get involved in the community working with children in sports some sports my own children don’t even play, but with the likes of people like us there wouldn’t be a lot to offer kids in the community, I have raised funds to keep the clubs open, we can all get off our backside to be involved it is if you want to try to help. We have found even in our clubs where we insist in showing respect it isn’t the children that have the attitude we have no problems with them, it is the parents.
We can all offer a bit.

Young people are named and shamed here - we have leaflets delivered to homes with a photo of the perpetrator on the front - basically saying what sort of stuff the young person has done.

I haven't read the article (flipping dial up rolleyes

) but having worked in the sector - the above was also threatened here at times (was always the extreme end of punishment I believe). Which is fine and I have no problem with personally.
I'm guessing that the usual curfews zones, exclusion zones, parenting contacts had all been put in place before hand and didn't work?
One of the things that local residents were more frustrated with - was the time scale it took to get to that point. They felt they put up with so much before *anything was done*, I can understand where there coming from. Therefore felt they weren't listened to and the system wasn't working for them - the victims.

I'm going to put my hand up and say that I do generally avoid these threads lately and do you know what, ever other fecking thread is of a similar vein.
The Cafe is no longer about fun or flirting anymore it's fast becoming an unfriendly place to come. One opinion battling against another, if I wanted politics, bitching and current affairs I'd pick a current affairs fecking site! Instead I want sexy fliryt fun where no one is belittled or made to feel their opinion doesn't matter!
A lot of the longer term posters don't post so much, the mods seem to be modding more than joining in with the fun, every topic turns into a battle.
Why newer people continue their subscriptions I have no idea because to me it would be a waste of money!

It's a shame there aren't more fun threads. Although I give it that the Current Affair type ones make up less than a third of the posts, they appear to cause the most trouble and ill will.
