Right, I am fed up with it.
I am sick of only having a little one. No matter what I do, it is always fecking tiny. Even when I get all excited and think it is going to be huge... Nope feck all and it disappears into the ether quicker than whence it appeared.
I refer to posts of course. How can I get one that people will respond and generate friendly conversation / debate without :-
1. Posting something deliberately controversial?
("Satanism : A bit naughty or just misunderstood")
2. Doing something that has not already been done 100 times already on here...
("What's your favourite sexual position?!)
3. Posting something that is done merely for the sake of it and of which I have no real interest in.
("Did you see the new Bill Oddie show? Amazing !")
4. Being accused of being blatantly self-promotional ("Incidentally, do check out my profile. I have an 11 incher. Sadly in my wifes naughty box upstairs, but you were happy for a moment...")
I await any nuggets of Forumite wisdom with interest.
um....dunno
you could do what I do and blatantly plagiarise them from the ebay chat boards!!
Chatboards
Bitter
Or
Lager
The threads that seem to be the most popular are the controversial ones though Res!(in my opinion wink )
I find I am getting more informed by ones like that, even the political and religious ones.
The trouble which I presume you are illuding to, is when they turn and folk take things personally.
Mikes first post on here, started loads of debate between members, nothing was resolved, but it made very interesting reading!
Lets all get our thinking hats on, we need a good un!!
Lucys post.

Oh Nolaaaaaaaaaaaaa could you go down to the cellar and bring back a thread about ...... rotflmao I'm so nearly very sorry biggrin
It's because you're from Liverpool - people will assume that things like electricity and curtains are still a novelty for you and Mrs R and think if they type too much you'll be up and down to the meter feeding it 50p's so you can read the screen wink
< is also a scouser :rascal:

Hey! I've got the two hamsters running like buggery here to power the central heating and I'm ok, as the PC is wired direct to the lamppost!
God... If they think that about Liverpool... what about.... (insert any part of the country you wish to insult)...???
Well, I'd like to point out we have curtains and stuff. Our car even still has it's wheels and hubcaps ;-)

You ought to try one day you might find you have the knack of it. biggrin
Thing is Res is a bit good on the posting lots of great stuff emanating from his keyboard. What is needed if he really wants to get a big long nasty going is some controversy in a topic. Hmmm I guess it could be either religion or politics because lets be honest sex on a sex site well its been done to death aint it. :D
Unlessssssssss we could do go with something about homosexual clergy in the house of Lords and how utterly dirty depraved and wrong that is and having it being banned or something dunno
i love your posts res even if they do leave me beffudled sometimes :silly:
Thank you everybody for your wise and sage-like words of wisdom on this thread... and thanks for Dirty Girly for posting too. wink
I feel suitably enlightened.
And if you'll just excuse me, I'm off to Splendid's for a week or so. I'll post something controversial afterwards, if I have any degree of sanity, energy or co-ordination left..
biggrin

Don't worry, it will start out with huge promise and burgeoning potential, only to eventually limp home, flaccid and disappointing...
biggrin
Sorry Res, can't help you. I was never what you'd call a prolific thread starter, being generally content to just hijack the fuck out of everyone else's, but occasionally I'd post some bollox that came to me most often while contemplating the bottom of a glass. Alas, I've not had an idea for a postable thread since 2006, which is when I finally kicked the Stella into touch. The fine bottle-conditioned ales I drink these days are better behaved brews than the old wifebeater it has to be said, but they do seem to be somehow lacking in the inspiration department. confused OTOH, I don't often rant me bleedin' head off so much these days, so it's all swings and roundabouts. ;)
Neil x x x ;)
Im afraid it needs to go political now if the threads going to have any legs sooooooooooo
Should the age of voting be lowered to encourage young adults to get involved in politics. Maybe to something like 14?
Or even possibly should there be a minister for the young
?

Oh my good god no!
I have a 14-year old who would see it as his mission to be that minister. Then it would be a case of 'Would the last person to leave the UK, please switch off the light?' :uhoh:

I was just kidding. He has been involved with our county council's Youth Council initiative but was not elected this time. I imagine he'll try again next year. Unfortunately, like many politicians, he has a ermm unique personality that doesn't gel with most other people's. Should be good for a job in politics in a few years then rolleyes

This tread had proved that we all seem to like the quick style posts, witty banter between each other, and all that jazz.
A few have tried to start up more serious posts, but they seem to die a death quickly, as folk type in with the witty banter, and they flip over then.
I like a balance, but agree with Res, a good long one is needed at times! wink
id like to add my two penn'orth into the efforts of making res very long indeed
