If music be the food of love...........then what hits "G" for you ?
I started wondering about this whilst recounting a tale to somebody the other day about a mindblowing sexual experience I'd had.
Playing in the background was an album that I now find hard to split from thoughts of that time. It's now an integral part of the moment. I happened to listen to it yesterday and could almost feel the shivers down my spine....
Where does music fit in with your pleasures.....? Do you find it detracts or enhances from the experience, and do you have a certain track or album that brings something flooding back ?
Are you a pop perv or a rock raver, a folk fiend or a sweet soul siren ? Have you bared all to Brahms or popped your pips to the Pistols ?
Maybe a "Swinging Heaven: Now thats what we called sexy - Vol 1" could be assembled and offered by the W.I. ?
I have the means to set it up if the idea takes off......
Carpathian Muse-o-naut.
What a post Carpathian! Personally I think music is more important in sex than food because it sets and enhances the mood.
The sexiest piece of music I can think of is from the film The Wicker Man when the spell is being woven to ensnare the visiting policeman. Wish I had a recording of that.
But from my own collection?
Freebird by Lynerd Skynerd has to be the ultimate closely followed in extremely catholic order by Scarlatti, Geminiani; The Small Faces' Autumn Stone; Sting's Desert Rose, and the Gotan Project album La Revancha del Tango... there are so many it's impossible to choose!
Love the idea of a Swinging Heaven album - sure it would knock Friends Reunited off the charts!
Sappho, now madly hunting through her albums
Definately certain types of music inspire memories of good times past. There was a dance track that the instructor always played in the warm up of our kickboxing lessons, and every single time it reminded me of toilets in clubs, and blow jobs  (OK, I know music is normally associated with romance, but hey ho 8) ).

Thank you ! Your choice to include is..........?
Great idea.
I recently looked at the 'Friends Reunited' (aka Desperately and sadly seeking a world that never really existed) album and was totally underwhelmed. Couldn't relate to any of them: all 'dancing round your handbag' stuff.
Some stuff that has sexula /romantic memories for me;
'Who knows where the time goes'-Sandy Denny/FC
'You Ain't seen nothing yet'-Bachman Turner Overdrive (brings back the smell of Wrens and playing table football in the Naafi)
'spem in Alum-Tallis-I know, it's supposed to be spiritual(it's also 10minutes plus)
'Rock your Baby'-George Macrae. Crap song-great times behind the village hall.
Samba pati-Santana
Je Taime-the , but had a profound effect upon a young lad who thought passion was giving someone the little blue bag from your crisp packet.
Lark ascending-Vaughan williams. That piece is sex in itself
Fantasia on a Theme by Tallis-Vaughan Williams-again
..oh, there are loads. I'm beginning to feel like a character in a Nick Hornby novel.
Look forward to hearing otherpeople's..
Well now here we go I like heavy metal and rock but also classical and easy listening. There are some exquisite tunes to make love to out there. Recommend one in particular for those people who are interested the others I keep to myself just in case some ladies want to take this further then just on the board. Enigma their first album ie sadness that is very pleasant starting slow then building up to a climax so sensual you need to hold each other's bodies as your souls were joined just moments ago.
I vote for "My definition of a boombastic jazz style" biggrin
It's the music from the start of the Austin Powers films, and after all he (apparently) puts the GRRRR in swinger. LOL
I will have to say it is a great idea. I personally think music can inspire you in many ways than food. It's probably me that when it comes up to food and sex, i can sometimes get put off by it. I don't really find any food that can turn me on or can do much to spice up my sexual life (that's ofcourse apart from body chocolate and yoghurt. lol!).
I guess music can make you feel good and happy. And when you feel happy/good it increase your confidence and when you are happy and confident you can do anyting and you enjoy most thing during that time. It's just my thought though. Hope i made some sence.
My choice:
Track to make me horny: - Robert Cray, Don't be afraid of the dark
Track for the apres moment - The Blue Nile - any track from Hats
Have to agree about Thomas Tallis, some taste there artificer!!
And some from Prophesy by Nitin Sawhey please.
*Goes off to check CDs*
Well I could post my favourite tunes, but hubby may look later - and he'd recognise me a mile off by them as he knows the effect they have!!!!!!

How could I forget Robert Cray..forgive me..I shall put the new(ish) album on now.

A simple but moody all time fave of mine
Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty
Sexy sax or what?

As a rule I'd rate sax's in rock or pop somewhere around the level the WI would rate dead batteries......but this is an exception I'm liable to agree with.
One of many destined for the shiny platter, Fred - have no fear !
Not 'arf, mate !

You know when you're a teenager and you say things that you don't really mean and make promises that you almost certainly won't keep, and all your subterfuge works, and you find yourself in the position that you've been angling for, and then "You can't hide your lying eyes" (Was it the Eagles) comes on the radio.
Still can't listen to that without a wave of guilt
Gordon.

I assume you'd not want that on the CD then ? confused

This was Marvin Gaye, I'm pretty sure. Good song: not to my taste but I've seen the effect it has had on many people. so, hat's off to Marvin.

Oh, and Jags, the Robert Cray album is 'Time will Tell'. Really good, more like his old stuff-Till the Mornin' comes etc
Bye the way, not really erotically charged(!) but have people heard the last four albums from Johnny Cash-The 'American Recordings' series. Don't scoff-Artificer hasn't cracked: it is wonderful stuff, especially the track on the final one-'Hurt' Talk about a life's experience coming through a man's voice. Awesome.
Ahhhhh thats it Artificer, thank you!
Was bugging me that I couln't remember it, although haven't been able to stop singing it since i mentioned it - which is kind of good as usually get given a really rubbish song first thing in the morning which remains with me til bedtime evil

No relation to the Not Drowning, Waving track of the same name, I assume. Wonderful, but it doesn't strike me as very erotic.
My problem would be that if there's good music playing, I'd be paying too much attention to it.
For music that does things to me, look no further than Sigur Ros "Agaetis Byrjum" ("You're not a post-rock fan if you haven't tried to have sex with this album", according to one review I read) or Godspeed You Black Emperor "Raise Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven".

'Hurt' is probably one of the finest (if not the finest) cover versions ever made. Being the rather alternative person I am music wise I'm a huge fan of Trent Reznor / Nine Inch Nails (for those few on here who'd know who I meant), and of that track of theirs in particular.
Cash's version blows it away though - I was stunned when I first heard it and it still slays me now. As you rightly say, Artificer, you can hear his life dripping from every word. I've always liked the "Man in Black" for his style but that is a fine choice indeed, sir !
I'm going to have to dig it out, I think.

Good grief sir - the tastes on here never cease to amaze me in the best of ways !
If 'Godspeed ye..." are your bag then try some intense one-on-one with Mogwai or Explosions in the Sky's latest.......
It may not be sultry or sexy in the usual terms but good god it's stirring stuff in it's own way !

Music plays an incredibly important part in my life, but choosing individual tracks or pieces is always difficult. Indeed a different day and a different mood would probably produce a different list. However, the following are perennials:
Handel's Coronation Anthem "Zadok the Priest". This is not a sexual memory but incredibly sensual. The anticipation created by the strings is palpable and raises the hairs on the back of my neck every time. As the arpeggios continue to rise and the tension builds I always find myself mesmerised, until all is resolved by that first entry by the choir. Breathtaking. redface
This may be something of a cliche, but Led Zepplin's "Stairway to Heaven" has many very fond memories. wink
"Too Shy to Say" is a truly beautiful and moving love song which sums up the way I often feel in such situations. It was originally by Stevie Wonder (OK, I can hear the groans from here rolleyes ) but my preference is for the Diana Ross version.
"Nimrod" from Elgar's Enigma Variations. If you are not moved by this then you are probably already too late for a doctor - you need an undertaker! Slow, soft and earth-shatteringly moving. The start is gentle and quiet but it builds to a very powerful (and loud) climax before subsiding gently until it just about disappears, leaving the memory of its presence still hanging in the air. I will leave you to work out the parallels for yourselves.
Sting, "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You". Nothing more needs to be said.
Mozart's "The Magic Flute", because it was playing the very first time I met somebody incredibly special. surprisedops:
