I'm a punter, welcome to the club mate. You may take to it like ducks to water, or you may find you don't. Keep to decent establishments and get to know the regulars. I see nothing wrong with it for the same reason. There is a criminal element, as in everything else these days, that makes the headlines, but most of it is quite mundane.
The idea that all the girls are coke heads and are doing it to feed their habit only applies to a small minority. Stick to well known establishments or well known independents and you'll probably be ok. All the bad press seems to come from reports about streetwalkers, but they're probably best avoided. The important thing is to stay safe otherwise why not?
There is a particularly strange attitude to sex in this country, it is both confused and ambiguous, and insists on categorising sex into one aspect of life whereas the reality is that it takes many forms.

In certain instances that's true. In bars and clubs there is an unspoken agreement that you buy the woman a drink at least to get anywhere. Often if it goes so far as buying a meal then the expectation is for full sex. This doesn't mean however that you'll ever see her again once you've had sex, but it is usually accepted that it is the right 'procedure'.
This also applies when approaching a woman for a more lasting relationship. If you expect to have sex then you have to spend a lot of money on her first before you can expect to get anything in return.
Paying for it up front merely cuts out all the preamble.

Some people have a low opinion of them selling sex, and assume there ( as pointed out earlier ) using intoxicating substances, and so on.
Its not like that at all, a majority of these ladies and guys are real nice folk, like in everything, the odd ones can give the rest a bad name.

This might sound contradictory (or of double standards) but I wouldn't pay for a man's company, either with or without sex. Obviously I'm a married woman and we have a healthy sex life, even without swinging, so my view might be different if I were single and/or male.
However, I can't see myself in a position where I'd need a man just for company or sex. I know some women pay for just the escort (say, to accompany them to a 'do') - but I'd be confident enough to do that alone. There are always toys for the other needs, if I couldn't ever find anyone to shag me. :twisted:

The idea that people only do it because they're desperate or need the money for drugs, for the vast majority is simply not true. Of course there are those who are doing that, but I've known people in full time respectable jobs who are potential druggies and alcoholics.
Contrary to popular perception many people do it as a considered career choice, and until the population as a whole stops being so hypocritical about sex they will no longer feel the need to justify their choice to do what they do.
As an example a friend of mine who was in full time employment decided that she'd had enough of the 9-5 and the politics, and wanted to be her own boss. So she's now an 'escort' and seems to be enjoying every moment of it.
This was her choice. She doesn't take drugs, hasn't got a pimp, and has a glass of wine with her meals, and still the nice warm person she's always been.
