Sorry not a malfunctioning Vibrator but my bloody divorce. Ok it seems that at last we are on the home straight and nisi served so hopefully 2005 will see the end of an incredible 6 months of solicitor abuse.
Sorry not been on lately but once again she threatened to check internet use to prove i am a pervert.
PERVERT? PERVERT? i have explained its a The Big Ben pendulum appreciation society
How can a judge not believe that.
Hi to Novice 1 thanks

Hi to Novice 1 thanks

Just clear History and Cookies - no one ever need know your internet usage.
Solicitors must make a bloody fortune - charge the earth.
Believe me i added a killer but was told they can get anything from the hard drive as we share the house and she is seeing a very Big (as in high profile) North east bod and all her friends are connected i was told to keep usage to a minimum. I have 2 kids remember and we have still not yet moved onto access although agreed 5 in 14 days for me verbally Ohh and they are minors. Always careful.
TBH i can show access to this site and if they do get any chat from it prior to her announcing her departure then it will show me being as i was Faithful. I came on this site well before problems and never once let anyone know i was after sex rather i was more interested in chat and turned down any offers (erm there was one)
No if i had of been sussed the evidence was purely chat but as a paranoid ex i didnt take any chances.
as for solicitors Hissssssssssss
Loads of different opinions about wiping the hard drive - some people say info can still be there after 7 formats and others just one is enough - suppose you can't be too careful
Hope everything sorts it self out.
Chin up
If she attempts to make good on her threat, remove the hard drive and physically destroy it. Make it as difficult and expensive as possible for her to recover any data from it. I find sledgehammers and angle grinders to be particularly effective tools in this regard...

Cyberscrub removes all traces of sensitive files and history by repeatedly overwriting the disc space with random garbage.
But it's expensive.

Alternatively, and this is very time-consuming, delete your sensitive files, then fill your hard drive with large files you don't want, then defrag the drive, then delete the rubbish files, then defrag again. This should cause the space that contained the sensitive files to be overwritten.

An alternative (and $10 cheaper) smile
The bad news is if she's really determined she could get the ISP logs sad
She could also send the drive to a specialised data recovery firm. If she does that, depending on how good they are, nothing short of physical destruction of the drive will prevent the data from being recovered.
Nice to see you around again

Just out of interest, this is for a Civil Action not a Police supported criminal one. She'd need specialist help and might be infringing some privacy rights of yours especially if you have your own profile, could she just take away your computer and have someone search for information like that?
Any legal eagles about?
TBh as the nisi is going through i dont think she will pursue this course of action. There is no illegal activity so anything she finds now will be irrelevant as she has accepted grounds for me divorcing her.
So i should stop being so paranoid
Thanks all anyway

It's fairly unlikely that any divorce that's not into the millions would justify MFSTM :nerdsmiley: Even then the chances of recovering useful information are slim. The packages above are good enough for any realistic scenario smile

I'm sure we've talked about this before (ie Moorhopper and myself). I really think it's just been used as a stick for his soon-to-be-ex to try and beat him with.
MH if you're really concerned then, as mentioned just take your hard drive out and replace it with a fresh new one. Computer still works and there's bugger all chance of them finding anything on the HD. wink
If you both have access to the PC then there could be privacy issues, but with there being dual access I doubt it would stand tbh.
Good luck with everything mate. Hope to see you on here again soon.
easy.
Hi MH,
Been there and done that.......I had stuff on me old hard drive that wouldnt have looked good when I was trying to prove how good and innocent I was when I went thru a divorce........nothing criminal, just personal stuff of me and and forum posts and stuff like that.
£60 later and new 160gb hard drive slotted in and all me paranoid devils where fooked off pronto !!
Old hard drive was destroyed and sent to the tip inside a box of cornflakes of all things.
Couple of years ago now......but I still remember how paranoid I felt and how much better I felt after doing the deed.
Banderas.x
Glad your back even if for just a little while MH and good luck,im sure itll all be worth it when its all over and you can live a little again biggrin
