Probably some factual basis.. I remember my father (in the army) being issued witha new khaki shirt in the 1960's. There was a note in it dated in WW2 written by a girl who packed tha shirt.. Offering to be a penfriend to the recipient !
Or how about Ascension Island?
2500 fellas and only 20 women - for 6 month tours of duty.
Some of the guys were really really really lucky and met someone in the first month and spent their whole tour together...................
That is as much as I am telling you!

Some guys were even luckier Fred, they got to go out with one of the girls.

Am I the only one who can remember when
condoms were made of sheeps intestines knotted at the tip
and tied in place with a ribbon?
Thought so. lol
We were issued with condoms to prevent dirt get down our rifle barrels, but not for a sexual purpose.
As for the other there are lots of rumours and stories about various things that supposedly occured in the being chopped off(likely to be true),American mercenaries fighting for the Argies(possibly true),executions of prisoners(possible). If there was free sex on offer i was certainly never told about it,probaly a good job i never heard anything about it afterwards either.

I was issued condoms for the same purpose in Rhodesia during the mid 1970's. We also used them of the .50 calibre brownings on certain light aircraft simply to keep the dust out of the barrels and the mechanism.
Our M.O. informed us that if we should be foolish enough to go with any of the females of the native population, he couldn't treat whatever we caught.
This was before AID's was recognised as a widespead disease in Africa. It was called the 'Thin' disease in Africa in those days. For once in my life I was glad to be celebate. Mind you I did make up for it when I got home.

Untrue

True - we captured some on Two Sisters and Mount Kent They got an effing good kicking, I will say that!

executions of prisoners(possible).

Most definately untrue - not by UK forces anyway, some Argies did kill an RM helo pilot and crewman that were shot down and crashed into the oggin (sea) even though they were injured and swiming for the shore.

I served 'down south' before, during and after the Falklands, with NP8901, HMS Endurance RM Detachment and 40Cdo RM. Not many blokes went with the women there, and when I say they had names like "The Yellow Submarine" you might guess why, most were definate 'double baggers' (one for her, and one for you - in case hers fell off!) - there were an awfull lot of sheep though
Most of our shagging was done on our R&R trips to Soth America - Rio, Monte video, Santos, Santiago and even BA before the conflict - now they were women well worth a good shagging! ;)
I could tell you about one nurse in WW2 who gave a dyeing Major a good time, hence I'm here.

And bloody penguins!
I was stupid enough to end up there 6 bloody times! - Somebody decided they did not like me one little bit.
Know what you mean about the women though - definite signs of "Deliverance" there - Everytime I looked at one I could here a banjo playing in the back of my mind...
deedle dlang dlang dlang! (Best I could do for a banjo!)
