Oh an by the way, drop litter: £60 fine. Attack someone in their car up to 8 years in jail.

sorry i dont understand what you're getting at there............attacking someone in their car is by far a greater offence than dropping litter..............so that is why the punishment is different............... confused
u've confused me........
I ve nothing to add just wanted to be underneath missy leather jacket rolleyes
sorry hun..........i'm not wearing my jacket tonight..........: rolleyes
Well I'll just sit under you here then hun jacket or no jacket :rascal:

i've been watching this thread since it started to see what peoples views were etc
its interesting because it not only addresses the topic of litter.......but also that of violence towards offenders.......
this thread has also made me think of a recent expierence that shocked me somewhat........the other day sheddy and i went for a walk at a local national trust place........as we knew it was a bit of a walk we had ahead we took a couple of cans of pop with us........once we were mid way we sat down and drank above mentioned pop.........then picked up our cans and carried on.........all was fine until we walk into the woods and find a group of kids having a bbq in the middle of the woods.........on one of the hottest days of the year.......i couldnt believe it............unfortunately there were no rangers around when we got back to the car park but luckily it appears they didnt burn the place down.........
but as for that level of aggression i think its wrong to do so whatever the circumsance.........not only because i disagree about tha level of violence but also because i think the first way to approach a situation would be better in a calmer more reasoning sense.......
and as an after thought..............we have children living under the poverty line in the uk...........but we're all more worried about litter..........
confused

Sorry Posh, I have no idea if it’s because I am in a foul mood tonight or what, but I do question your comments this evening. It’s not often I bleat on here, but tonight well, it’s an exception.
Firstly, you mention kids having a bbq in the woods. So?
What that has to do with litter. I have no idea, but it sounds like a presumption that the kids were not responsible.
Certainly, in some areas of forestry commission land, bbq’s no matter what the weather, are allowed as long as they are the correct type and are controlled.
Again, it could be presumed that by mentioning the fact that this was kids having a bbq they are not responsible for keeping it safe and clearing up after themselves.
Secondly, sorry did I miss something?
Was it mentioned that poverty was more important than litter?
If you have an issue with poverty then submit a thread, this one was about litter, and up to a point, the extent of physical violence.
There are far too many points of issue in the world today to say that one is more important than another.
The only thing that I will agree with you on is the level of violence in the act of reprimand. I for one, although finding the thought of litter abhorrent, find that any form of violence to deal with the issue is, its itself, not condoned it any way whatsoever.
Since she's not about I'll have a crack at this one.....................

What that has to do with litter. Absolutely sod all to be honest but havin g spent the previous half hour stood on a very high beauty spot watching at least 3 grass fires (and bloody huge ones at that) burning around the manchester area stumbling upon these numptys could well have invoked a similar response from us as someone dropping litter did for robbie. So I beleave her point was we didn't react to something that did shock and upset us in the same way as he did and there is more than one way to handle every situation.
Secondly, sorry did I miss something?

No it wasn't however it's something we beleave strongly about and at times some people seem to forget the fact that child poverty does excist in this country and a helpfull reminder from time to time even if it's not in it's own thread can surely do more good than harm if at all it can cause any harm

However like I said these are MY views in response to your quiery due to the absence of Kate so all objections to em land on my user name wink

This has to be one of my top 5 pet hates! I regularly mouth off at complete strangers who drop their litter as if it's nothing to be ashamed of! mad
I find fainning innocence (shurrup meaty) much more fruitful than violence.
You're walking down the street, someone drops something infront of you.
You, very helpfully, pick it up and hand it back to them, "I'm terribly sorry to bother you but I think you dropped this", a big smile and a fluttering of eyelashes - they usually find the nearest bin.
Works for guys too, but don't do the eyelash bit - they'll think you've either lost a contact or you're trying to wink at em.

That sounds good H.x, but the theory falls apart for me when you suggest....

Seeing as I have a tendency to say whatever pops into my tiny mind I would probably say somthing like "Oi you scumbag... yes you! How dare you drop your rubbish in the street, pick it up now you piece of sh*t!"
Ohhhh what it is to be a classy lady like me! lol
i understand the emotions that litter dropping evoked in you, however i know its off track but you were all sat in traffic pumping out toxic fumes damamging the enviroment when this happened. Would it have been acceptable for a guy on a bicycle to drag you from you van and take your keys away?
also how would people be reacting if it was a lady he had dragged out of her car and treated in this maner?
there is no excuse for violence.
those in glasshouses should not throw stones. I think, as a few have said, maybe getting out walking over and pointing out the error of his ways in a diplomatic manner would have given you the higher ground and made you feel better in the long run, after all if you felt no guilt you wouldnt be asking us to condon the behaviour ?

2 good examples there.
Chucking litter about is a very bad thing but it don't condone violence..

Who is/was condoning violence as a response to people dropping litter? I must have missed that. dunno
i read all of robbies post and thought one question he was asking is was he was right or had gone over the top, i took this as him wanting yes or nos to how we feel he acted warrented the crime?
there was violence involved by dragging him form his car,and he spoke about a red mist ,all this reads to me like there was a violent attitude and action, which could have escalated. i dont see violence as only thumping someone.
for me to say yes he acted appropriotely would have in my mind condoned his actions therfore condoned violence for litter dropping in this case.
yes i think litter dropping is wrong, but i dont think this was the correct way of dealing with it.
i dont have all the answers , i only gave robbie my opinion which he did ask for, when we ask advise its not always what we want to hear.
robbie could have been injured in this event aswel.

He took it on himself to act in a violent manner, in other words he condoned it himself.
