not many things get on my nerves as much as litter louts nd the amount of scumbags i see wantonly chucking allsorts of litter is incredible!!!!!!!
the sheer disregard they show for the environment in which THEY live in is very very worrying, whether its middle aged men throwing a fag packet out of their car window or a 10 year old throwing an empty coke can!!!
tonight this came to a head and it nearly came to a brawl,i was stopped at some traffic lights burning up in the heat when i saw typical late 50's big car man chuck a whole mcdonalds out of his window near my house,i sat for a few seconds uttering to myself then the fuse blew and i got out of the van(yes van drivers care) and gave this @#$#$# a piece of my mind,he ignored me and the red mist descended,i dragged him out of the car and humiliated him in front of the now backed up traffic by making him pick up all he had dropped,i got back in the van, apologised to the traffic for the hold up and carried on feeling very good inside.
was i right or totally over the top?
are there any litter drooppers here who can explain why its ok to foul everywhere up with sh@t?
rant over
i think u were lucky
you should have just picked it up and wiped it on his seats, then tell him if he wants to cover the streets in shit he can live with his car being covered in it.
10/10....I just wish more people had you balls. Me included
You did right, don't know that we could have done the same, but good for you!!

Good on you hun  It drives me mad when people drop all kinds of crap in the street. I see kids ( and adults for that matter ) come out of the chippy and drop their wrappers and cartons all over the place. To me, it's pure laziness and filthy habits. I bet they wouldn;t do that in their own homes. I always make my kids bin it or take it home.
When I used to work at the local hospital and caught the bus in the city centre, I was knee deep in litter and the smell was nauseating, especially in the summer.
Even worse are the drivers who empty their ashtrays out of the window mad

Sadly, in this "I don't give a f**k" age, the roads are strewn with garbage, just check out any roundabout near a motorway exit. And how many bottles of Pi$$ ?
Back to point, it was very brave, but very risky. There are a lot of loons out there carrying knives and guns and you may have ended up a statistic.
If you have a company van, knock his drivers mirror off, apologise and swap insurance details. It won't cost you anything but sure as hell bugger his week up.
Gambit
You were a bit over the top robbie! If any kids were watching they wouldn't have thought differently about litter dropping more it's ok to openly assault someone for doing so!
It's just plain lazy and selfish to litter.
I was at a railway station once and watched a youth throw an empty coke can on the tracks.... he was actually leaning against the litter bin at the time, idiot.
But one that incensed me was when living in Brighton, a couple sat on my front garden wall eating a McDonalds and then... (red mist starts to descend, hold me back robbie!).... casually tossed all the waste in my garden. Bloody cheek of it!
Teling him was the right thing.
Geting him out the car could have been bad news if he was a nutter.
But feel good now it's done.
When I was a child, I once stopped a well dressed lady in the street and offered her back the souvlaki wrapper she had just dropped. I gave her a brief lecture about littering whilst she stared at me wide eyed and openly embarrassed. My mom then told me off for causing a scene. There's no justice in the world.

You'd like it here in Nottingham then S-S. The local NHS Trust has made the QMC (Queens Medical Centre) a completely NO SMOKING area (with the only exception being in the psych ward). The result means that everyone who smokes - from patients to nurses and consultants - has to go beyond the NO SMOKING boundary and they just happen to be the public bus stops that skirt the outside perimeter of the hospital grounds. Imagine the fun you could have wading through an ankle-high sea of discarded cigarette butts to catch your bus of an evening.
That's right, absolutely none.

This drives me mad too.
Hospitals in our area have all adopted that policy too. I am a smoker and I do stub out cigarette and deposit butt in the bin once I am back in hospital grounds........but most people don't. My opinion is that if the hospital is going to ban smoking on the grounds (which IMO is pointless on passive smoking health grounds when they still allow cars which have more harmful exhaust fumes) they should provide bins at all of the hospital entrances.

Good but, like has been said already, definately dangerous in this mental world we find ourselves living in.
Wonder if I'd be as brave? probably not
special kiss for being so brave on an important issue!

We dont inherit the earth from our fore fathers, we borrow it from our children, the earth is not ours to do with as we please we have it on trust and must hand it over to the next generation in a better condition than when we ourselves received it.
It is our responsibility to teach others how to care for the environment so that we all benefit from it, now im no tree hugger but i am a countryman.
I think you were rite to do it as obviously the message to this prick had not got through in his entire life and this was just the next step in his education. I bet the guy doesnt do it again incase there is an axe-weilding lunatic behind him next time. lol

i agree with you, i never let my kids throw rubbish on the floor i have carried it around with me in my bag for hours till i have found a bit, most people excuse for littering is that it gives someone a job
saying that i think u have to be very careful now days in confrunting litter louts as we seem to have turned into a nation of money grabber and i'm sure someone somewhere could sue you for appprocing a stanger in the street and giving them what for

Well bloody done that man.
This morning, I spent mt precious 20 mins before I had to go out typing a reply about how I once did something similar.........and I timed out!
So Bollox to it! But again, well done- it could have been scary, but if we all backed down from could be scary situations the world would be even more fecked than it is now.
:worship:
i dread to think what some of you guys would do to some real serious lawbreakers!...Charles Bronson......move over! lol
well done.......bit on the brave but stupid side.......never know what sort of nutter u r dealing with......
i always end up with pockets n bag full of rubbish when we`re out with the kids....
That's not clever, dude - what he did was wrong, but you reacted in violent and dangerous manner which is way worse than littering. If someone ever tried something like that on me then I sure as hell wouldn't have gone quietly. Although on saying that, I don't ltiter or anything either.
in hindsight it was a bit daft but i'd been stuck in the royal horticultural show traffic for ages getting very hot n bothered and had been thinking about litter for a while(dunno why)
i dont usually lose it like that but i did get a few peeps of appreciation from the backed up traffic.
glad most of you think i was right,i feel better now
biggrin
BRILIANT-you desrve a bloody medal .if more peple took your aproach there would certainly be less litter on our streets.(and less arseholes droppin it )
The sad fact is that honest people like you are probably going to end up hurt as a result of your actions. If your built like a brick shit house ...then go for it.. The little guy may want to do something but is held back coz of the possible outcome.
No justice nowadays - 2 many do gooders
Marks out of 10 ........ 100
will be out on litter patrol later!!!
Wish I could say I would have done the same. Did once lob something dropped back through the open car window <of the car from which it was dropped>.
Sad to see our country despoiled by all the litter lying around. No excuse for dropping litter out of vehicles, just throw it into the footwell and tidy up at your destination, nearly always a suitable place to dispose of rubbish is conveniently available.
Some folk do seem to have great difficulty in identifying litter bins and then using them appropriately.
Planemike...............

I'm right on your side robbie...
yes you were way over the top
Ive been there & done that & as a result I have been charged with criminal damage!
Riding along the Brompton Rd in London some fecker threw the contents of his ash tray out his window & the most of it ended up inside my helmet... a few choice words were exchanged along the lines of '...fecking have some respect for the privilege of living in this country' etc... & I left it alone.
But later on at the traffic lights the $%%t tore up some paper & threw it out his window at me.
red mist ensued & I laid into his crappy MVP after he had locked the doors!
I'm not proud of what i did but I guess I let the whole thing get to me, being a biker in London stirs many emotions & when you see a side of the general public it so easy to spot stereotypes
( Yes I did say that out loud & yes I know I'm a member of SH!)
When hauled off to court I apologized for wasting court time, told the judge I had £100 in my pocket to put towards any fine they saw fit - they fined my the £100 quid I had!
Luckily for me being a contractor work was never a problem as the crim' record stays with you for 5 years
But yes any form of litter dropping or letting dogs fowl public areas really makes my blood boil - Trust me my responses now are far more tempered... having my knuckles rapped is once to often! mad
I think you were spot on.... if we all took a little control and showed these people for what they really are we would all benifit.
Well done..
Mike..
Just a side note to this, we had a guy who time after time used to walk his dog out of a side street opposite and then used a grass area outside our house as his dog toilet.... I asked him a couple of times about it and he just shrugged it off and continued doing the same thing. One day I scooped the weeks worth of crap up into a bag went round and knocked on his door.... asked him again would he please stop it he said the dog has to shi* somewhere I explained he should clean it up then as he would not like it walked into his house, he said its not a footpath and is just fuckin* grass (nice fella yes) .... so I emptied the mess on his carpet. His face said it all, since then no dog mess no arguement!

OMG.........My hublets a criminal!
:rascal:
Hi I agree about how you feel and there is no excuse for not using a bin, but there's the danger side of confronting someone. I friend of my challenged someone over the same kind of thing, was shot at by these thugs.
Mind you him having certain friends the score was evened but was it worth it over a burger wrapper. Life is more important than litter.

Yeah doll face... you gotta problem with that
Im off down the pub!
Make sure me tea's nice n hot when I get back....
....or else!!! mad
i've been watching this thread since it started to see what peoples views were etc
its interesting because it not only addresses the topic of litter.......but also that of violence towards offenders.......
this thread has also made me think of a recent expierence that shocked me somewhat........the other day sheddy and i went for a walk at a local national trust place........as we knew it was a bit of a walk we had ahead we took a couple of cans of pop with us........once we were mid way we sat down and drank above mentioned pop.........then picked up our cans and carried on.........all was fine until we walk into the woods and find a group of kids having a bbq in the middle of the woods.........on one of the hottest days of the year.......i couldnt believe it............unfortunately there were no rangers around when we got back to the car park but luckily it appears they didnt burn the place down.........
but as for that level of aggression i think its wrong to do so whatever the circumsance.........not only because i disagree about tha level of violence but also because i think the first way to approach a situation would be better in a calmer more reasoning sense.......
and as an after thought..............we have children living under the poverty line in the uk...........but we're all more worried about litter..........
confused
