Statistically I do think HIV is blown out of all proportion as a risk. Yes we would still use condoms (given the chance) in a swinging situation but it still does not change the facts as a few have said.
Here are a few things I have been told over the years. Some may be correct others not so.
1: Chances of catching Aids from Vaginal sex as a man with a HIV+ woman 1 in 100
2: In Bristol where I live at any one time there are only 6 people who unknowingly have aids or HIV+
3: Very surprised this has not been mentioned yet but HIV passes far more easily from anal sex and thats why its more predominant in the Gay community. Membranes are thiner in the rectum so I was told.
4: The whole huge 80's HIV scare originated from countries in Africa where men giving the ladies anal sex is a contraceptive measure and widespread.
On a side note, how many people using condoms for swinging smoke? Smoking giving you a 1 in 3 chance of death. Interesting how people weigh up risk.

I think this is very true from a hetero mans perspective (gay/bi males and hetero women - not so).
We all make judgement calls on the level of risk we expose ourselves to on a daily basis and even if the person you are having sex with actually does have HIV there is only a chance that you will catch it from them. I seem to recall that David Soul (remember him) said that and his wife had a full and active sex life in the several years after her transfusion before she was diagnosed with Aids and subsequently died.
There are other nasties that will expose yourself to - Gonnhorrea, NSU& Chlamydia being the most common and if you continue unprotected sex - you will get one, or more, of these nasties in time.

* Uptake of HIV testing in genitourinary medicine and antenatal clinic settings reached 75% and 94%, respectively.
Tells me that HIV is increasing and the largest section of society it's increasing is in the heterosexual community - Nuff said.

How do they know 28% were unaware of their infection? If you don't know you have it, you can't have been tested??
And "estimated"? Surely the health authority should know how many people have HIV in the UK.

every pregnant woman has an hiv test,or at least that was the case in bolton 5 yrs ago,you had to request the result as these tests were for statistical,not diagnostic purposes
Yes but if a pregnant woman is tested positive they have to tell them, so they won't be unaware.

Its no surprise that the numbers of heterosexual Aids contractions has risen but from what I can tell its only risen in line with the rise in young adult heterosexual promiscuity. Makes sense.

I think to a degree you are right, as hubby as said if a woman offers herself on a plate to him, he dont know if he would refuse and he has said most men wouldn't either if they were honest.
Being a woman on this site I guess some men might think we are here for the having, don't you think a lot of woman know that to be the case, but what I don't think you have stated or thought about is that some women are astute.
I just have to say i've been on here over 2 years and have prob seen 100's of profiles with bareback pics....and just the other day a single guy took a strop when i gave him the reasons i wld never meet him he is bareback with at least 2 different women in his pics.. and his retort was 'they wanted it bareback', i'm always amazed on here that as a swingsite people are casual about protection...

So what does nature want us to do next, apart from having mad fucks? I don't know. But perhaps hiv and aids is actually how we are supposed to go on evolving.
Also before antibiotics came into use, many of us died from immunity defficiency in a variety of forms. And we would still die now from 'common' complaints without antibiotics. And equally people are dying from things which are currently unrecognised and the idea or concept is not new. But it was admirably re-presented at the outset of the discovery of aids.
