Microsoft Vista problem

Grrrrrrrrrrr. lol

We have just brought a new computer and everything was fine until we went onto SH tonight.
We just cannot seem to get the site to display large type. :shock: In the chat rooms the names are so small can just read them. Has anyone got any ideas?
I would be very grateful.

I'm forced to use Vista at work, and have decided that after XP at home, I'm going to Linux. I really, really would advise you to get a "downgrade" license to XP, and install that. (Basically it's using your existing Vista License to cover removing Vista and going back to XP).
Don't ask anyone at PC world - they've been programmed to insist you can only have Vista.
Otherwise I wish you well as you discover more about PC support than you ever wanted to know.

Easiest and cheapest way would be to bin IE and download and install Firefox. In Firefox Ctrl+ or Ctrl- is all you need to change the text size on the fly.

Well said peanut exactly the right answer....just use firefox instead smile

....Vista is not that bad....stuff is in differant places and things work differantly but fundamentally its the same just with a differant look and more options....XP with service pack 3 is fine to tho so dont go rushing to buy vista if you dont really need to....

I'm no expert but I don't think that works within the chatrooms which kentswingers's were hoping for confused

Nope i love it too. A lot of options have just been hidden in deiferent places so Lets just say people who are less savvy dont go messing with them.
But
The text on my lappy is small and changing the screen res just makes other things worse but on the desk top all is fine.

Dawnies quite right...
I'm on Firefox with Vista- unfortunately CTRL + doesn't work in the chatrooms- just checked.
But I love Vista too! It just takes some getting used to. :thumbup:

In that case what's required is enlarging the fonts at the system level through the display properties dialogue (either by changing the actual size or the DPI). Right click the desktop and choose properties (or whatever they've deemed to call it in Vista).
As regards Vista, as an IT professional I wouldn't go near it with a bargepole. My daughter has it on her laptop and from what I've seen it's just a nice looking way of slowing down a computer, even with Aero disabled.
Let's face it, Microsoft haven't got XP right yet let alone Vista. At least with XP's SP3 it's getting there. Though I don't know what it's like to run SP3 on top of an installed copy of XP as I recently upgraded and used a streamlined SP3 install and it's hunky dory for me.

Righty, on Vista- Right Click, Personali"z"e, left hand side, adjust font settings. Doesn't take effect until after a restart though so thats as far as I went. HTH.
Peanut- Theres an Aero in my laptop? Chocolate or Mint? Where? :lickface:
