Pity it isn't true...
LOL it isnt stricly true , but it seems to define any fuckin thing that accesses the internet and doesnt have MS on it as spyware . We downloaded SP2 and found it so bloody cumbersome and invasive that we back dated the system restore and deleted the damn thing .

We just got a new PC with SP2 pre-installed and it's fine but i had all sorts of problems when I applied it to my old system !
Users of alternative browsers were happy to see Internet Explorer gone. Thad Freeman of the Mozilla Users Group said, "I've been trying for years to get rid of Internet Explorer. I never imagined that Microsoft would do it for me. I'm ecstatic."

Yeah right. lol it's bound to happen sooner or later and everyone knows it. rolleyes banghead
Symantec Antivirus Research reported that virus sightings were down by 95% this morning.

according to my hubby who's looking over my shoulder... microsoft internet explorer is one huge chunk of spyware anyway, logging you down every time you go on the net, and checking what you're doing... don't ask, if he isn't here behind me i haven't gor a clue what i just been on about lol
mozilla rox
IE sux, shame its the wrong sux it does or I would use it more often smile
mozilla rox
Yep Firefox is the way to go, The aim of the game is to try to do without as much microsoft stuff as you can, as its one big worm. mad

Apparently the worst offender is Micro$oft's Windows Media Player. Whenever you listen to music (MP3s or any other format) it reports back to Micro$oft what you were listening to, or viewing if you were looking at films.
I'll try to find the link to the website which reported this.
Firefox is a good and quick browser, got it on the system... but a better one in my POV although a tad slower, is Avant, (another free download) it seems to have more features than Firefox and IE put together... selective pop-up blockers, multi page, full screen, you name it, it's got it... and it aint nothing to do with MS.
Awol, media player has tick boxes to stop all that in the privacy options. it even asks the first time you run it, so if yours is doing all that then it's because you clicked the "please spy on me" button not the "please don't spy on me" button.
Arkan, all the features you mentioned are in both mozilla and firefox biggrin AND they have mouse gestures!!
Be aware that Avant has support for activeX etc. which is one of the bigger problems with ie sad
*edit* in fact, upon further reading, Avant IS Internet Explorer, so it'll install all the spyware and stuff that i.e does.

I would agree with that. Firefox makes using the Internet a pleasure, being able to open pages on new tabs, & obviously the fact that it is far more secure.
Very amusing article. biggrin
Firefox is fantastic...shows IE up for the bloatware that it really is.
Shame everyone doesn't test their code against it !
Firefox is indeed wonderful - been a user for the last few versions and really hate using IE at work.
Another way to get shot of Microsoft is to try Thunderbird, Mozilla's email client - it even imports everything from Outlook including messages, folders and pop settings etc so it's up and going straight away !!
Can we have some links to these please, especially firefox?

the email one is there too, as is mozilla since they are all part of the same organisation biggrin
then you'll want too
I love firefox just love using tabbed browsing using ctrl + t is handy
Some extensions I use are
bugmenot Collects common website logins so you dont have to create one
googlepreview Adds a thumbnail piccy when doing searches on google. Wouldnt recommend this if you on dial up tho
spell bound Spell checker useful for online forms
Mouse gestures are cool as well .
Been playing around with one called adblock as well to try and block ads but seems hard work to get it working
I need to get out more lol
Fire fox is good...but it is open to a few faults where IE isnt...as in activeX when internet banking etc etc..and also browsing sites where java is needed...Im not supporting MS but IE is the easier to use....as for several folk thinking its is spywear....it is only if you let it like most software... smile :)
Feel sorry for microsoft myself, if every hacker out there decided to take apart unix / firefox then people would soon be moaning about their security updates. Not saying microsoft are saints and don't screw things up, just when you compare what they up against most of their products are pretty good really...

I use Firefox with 3 different online banking web sites & have had no problems so far.I have no sympathy with Microsoft, because they could do a lot more to make their products more secure, but that would mean reducing the functionallity. No doubt there are a few battles within the company between those responsbile for the security & those in charge of making the software do more things. rolleyes
