What - that it was just an insincere line?
I might have many faults Musky but I do try to post truthfully my friend.
Theres no way of knowing why you feel it about who you feel it just do if you do,thats all.
And to quote your mate :It ain't why - it just is.
Well I have watched the programme this morning with a sense of horror! I have to agree with whoever it was who said (may have been more than one person) that the men who hanker after the woman who are 30/40 stone did give me the slight chills. Is it a power thing? A controlling thing? I didn't understand it at all and worries me greatly.
As one whose lightest weight was 7lb 8ozs it has ALWAYS worried me that some men are attracted to the body and not the person. rolleyes However I am fit and healthy (apart from this week but that's just a virus/bug  ), take part regularly in sport and I can only be thankful that I have not had the misfortune that some of those woman have.

Just thought i'd put me foot in me mouth here...
Im a size 20/22 and 4 years ago i was a size 8/10...while going throught school i was 12/14.....im 22 years old and found most men loved me when i was a size 12/14 but now im 20/22 im not as desirable to the men i once was as they have all commented on my weight..........i do not over eat.....i have high blood pressure and it seems to have been brought on by the pregnancy of my only child....i had alot of problems in the pregnancy and then had a caseraian(sp) which made me depressed....i lost all pregnacy weight within 3 months of having her but something changed and i started to put weight on even tho i didn't start eating anything more.....i've had tests and still even on controlled diets i put weight on...im more active than i have been for awhile as my health is getting to b a problem.....
I am happy with myself at times..but really unhappy at my health and the fact that i can not have any more children with my blood pressure being just above normal.....i am tring so hard but getting no where......and tbh i think the programme(which i did not watch) would have just made me more sad....i am classed as obese and i know the health risks that come with being over weight..........some women have problems and some women enjoy being big...but at the end of the day....larger ladies don't tend to live as long as ladies who r average weight.....
I am having my own rant...sorry redface ...i don't entend this to b offensive to any1...just what is happening to me and my experiance....we all have our own minds and our own tastes.....and yes if the world was full of the same boring figures and faces then it would be so very boring.....
I come from a family of very big women and seen what can happen.....but i know that each of these ladies me included have a man that loves us no matter what.....so the herd can go find some1 who they think is sexy.......but they might find that big is better cause its something to cuddle up to in the cold nights in winter....

- and wasn't Marilyn Monroe a size 16 at one point?

Certainly was!
Im a size 16, but if I go down to a 14 I look emaciated and for years I tried, NOW I look better and am healthier. biggrin
However, out for drinks with a friend on Sat night we got talking to a couple and as they were leaving the woman looked at me and said, 'your awfuly skinny' redface ...it was so farcical!
So here is the thing...a size doesnt necessarily depict the amount of fat on yer bones, or a comfort factor (sitting on hard chairs as a 14 was uncomfy!) Now I have an inbuilt cushion, am happy with who I am, and can laugh when women who's boob tube wouldn't fit around my thigh accuse me of being skinny!
I've met a number of women on here who discribe themselves as BBW - yet when I meet them, they are not what I would consider to be big at all.
and to avoid naming names my example is:
and wasn't Marilyn Monroe a size 16 at one point?
dunno Not my idea of big at all.
And no, I couldn't say what my line in the sand is.

How's that for a PHD in PC then Doesn't make Flirty wrong though, everyone is right for somebody, and is wonderful to that person for who they are, not how they look.
Bari was the first to mention "Real women". The way I read it, was that the "real woman" is not defined by her shape, but by her personality, ID, essence, whatever you want to call that which makes us individuals. We areprogrammed from an early age to believe that before we bother looking for the "real woman" inside, we filter out those women who do not conform to the social idea of what is "the right shape".
This is nothing new though, there are examples from many cultures from throughout history of society coming to a group decision of what women should look like, and seeking to force them to conform. Binding of womens feet in Japan is the most obvious and cruel example that springs to mind.
One thing common to all though - it always seems to be the men that set the standards, the men that voice the opinions, and the women left defending themselves.

Hmm, I break my self imposed posting ban to offer my thoughts (and IImust admit I've not read each and every word in this thread...) and to no doubt put my foot in it again...
Edit: bah, I reinstate my self imposed silence.

It is interesting but why do larger ladies have to be shoved in a 'specialist tastes' category?

Why do those men who through no fault of their own have a preference for the slimmer figure have to be shoved in a 'specialist tastes' category?

But (as happened to an attractive but large friend of mine) when you hear about guys walking up to bigger women in a pub and without any reason saying "Christ, you're a fat bitch aren't you"

That sort of rudeness is a good argument for bringing back the stocks.

Hey, that's what I just said smile
Hmmmmmm.......
Massive Potential for 'Can of worms' Syndrome with this thread.
If allowed to run its course I would imagine this could give the 'Verification Thread' a run for its money in the post stakes!!! wink
Personally I would like to look at this from a different angle.
I have always been interested in 'choice & preference' from a Psychological point of view.
What one person likes another doesnt - and I have always been fascinated by this - moreover the cause of preference.
I'm not just talking about whether or not someone may or may not like larger ladies, I am looking at the bigger picture - Why does one person like Marmite and another not like Marmite??
I dont know! - I dont have the answers..!!!
I would imagine that environment & up bringing probably has alot to do with it but we then start to encroach on the whole nature/nurture debate......

However, you won't often hear many guys slating a woman for being thin, sadly not the case in reverse (owing to the herd mentality I mentioned).

Cant agree with you there.
Herd mentality????...... non-sense.
I believe that there is a certain amount of 'hard-wiring' in humans - I'm talking about instinct.
If we are all honest we'd have to admit that there are certain health drawbacks to being excessively large - and this may be a factor with attraction, as attraction (ultimately) is about finding a mate for procreation, and a mate that is unhealthy is less likely to be a successfull mate.
Maybe that is a reason why there seems to be a general preference for slimmer women.
However - what is also interesting is if you look at Foreign cultures where food is scarce. They seem to have a much different view - they seem to have a general preference for larger women.
Maybe this is for a similar reason???
All very interesting.

i was nt gonna comment on this thread but what the hell
im sick of the i have to be thin clan
seeing as i help in a drop in centre for women .men .........children with eating disorders i see the bad side of this diet society we live in

I was considering moving abroad one day lol
I think that in the end it is just a matter of taste and society needs to be more open to that fact. After all everything we do is affected by our personal preferences, including body size and shape, why should anyone be lumped into a category? Unfortunately society's attitude is to categorise people who are different from the 'norm' they have created.
I find it interesting that larger black women are looked upon differently to larger white women, some extremely talented black female singers are large and nobody says a thing but Michelle McManus is slated for being a bigger lady. OK she's no Aretha Franklin or Martha Wash but why is she any different looks-wise?

Society categorises - Fact!!
And there always have been and always will be social norms - those norms will change over time but they will always exist.
In Elizabethan times its was fashionable to paint your face white.
In the Orient it was thought attractive if girls had tiny, tiny feet - so they bound the feet of young girls to make them small, with massive defformation a result.
How ridiculous does that sound??
Nowadays its fashionable to undergo surgery for the sake of beauty - can you imagine what future generations will make of that!!!
Whatever age or culture we live in there will always be norms and there will always be people who fall outside of the norms.
Thats just the way it is.

I also find this interesting - cant really think any rationale behind it & dont really have any opinions on it yet but I am about to flounce off and have a think about it!!!!

Since its a serious question I'll give you a serious answer, and that is, yes they do.
The irony is that in fact larger women are generally harder to get into bed, I guess because they maybe feel a little more self concious and therefore need to be more reassured that the person really wants them rather than just "diving in" without a care.
However, from my experience of time spent on larger woman sites, there is definitely a mindset amongst a lot of men that a larger woman will be "less choosy", or maybe "more desperate".
As I say, I've always found that in reality the reverse is true, but there you go... dunno

I have a theory that being "big" and being "fat" are two different things. Everyone is a different size in height, so why not in width? You can have one person who's just as fit, eats just as healthily, and excersises just as much, as another yet is just naturally "larger" the way another person might be naturally taller.
But there is also the women who are much bigger because of eating (either too much or the wrong thing), lack of excersise, different metabolism, whatever.
The women on the program may have been naturally larger, but without doubt they were all much "fatter" than a normal woman. Much...
Just as an example, there was the woman with the thing in her throat to help her breathe, now she was grossly fat. And then at the end there was the woman who was into "squashing". Now the "squashing" woman was (I'm sure) actually heavier, but she was clearly much healthier and fitter, she was more naturally that size whereas the first woman was just very very fat.
I guess there is a cross-over between the bigger "fat" woman and the bigger "large" woman, or a combination of the two maybe, but there is definitely a difference I think...
Some women are big, are fit, are sexy and look great!
Some women are big but in a much less healthy way...

To be honest (and I'm not trying to be funny here) I think that at a size 22/24, if you had watched the program you'd actually have felt positively anorexic!
There were women on there a size 40 or more, and I doubt any were under a size 30...

This is EXACTLY the point I was tryingt to make initially.
There is a whole "herd" of men who "decide" what kind of women they like based on what they're told, by the media, by their mates, what-ever.
It can take a certain amount of courage sometimes to stand out from the crowd and state a preference not of the norm, and go for it (as I'm sure a very great many people on here must feel, given the somewhat "alternative" lifestyle that swinging is...)

And in my opinion good on him for telling the truth.
I also think that the same applies to the way some men view older women also.

I agree partly with this, there are definately some men who look for Larger/Older/etc. women because they view them an easy shag.
But there are also a lot of men who are simply put off chatting to the young, slim woman simply because of their own self-esteem. They see themselves as a slightly overweight, balding middle aged man and can easily be intimated by a woman who they view as "out of their league".
can i have my two penneth on the subject...
it was interesting in watching the program last night... and to be honest like most of the other people i personally didn't find any of the women on their attractive...
but what i did like is that most of the women there were comfortable with themselves and happy... which is a lot better than can be said for a lot of us.....
and if you are comfortable with yourself and think "sexy" them someone with pick up on it... i cant think of many things more sexy then a little bit of confidence........
i do look at a woman of thin or large... i look at a personality.... because whatever ever else they look like.. and that may change.... it is going to be the personality that keeps you there......
sean xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
not really a "skinny dude" myself..... biggrin :D :D
roger - a lot of truth there about us,er,mature gents and the slim, younger woman - who may,by an admittedly slim, sorry, small chance, not see YOU in that way at all.
But I know in my heart I've never looked at anyone, slim or fuller figured, as "easy".

This is very true Sean, if a person is confident and feels sexy then a lot of people around them will pick up on that and react accordingly.
The reverse is also true, I find there is nothing more off-putting in women then someone who spends the whole time moaning about how fat & unattractive she is. It either strikes me as a rather shallow way to fish for compliments or I am left feeling that my opinion counts for nothing if I find them attractive.
