Ok, so i've been living with Daz for 10 months. My mum and i get on so much better now i've moved out, but sometimes, i wish as was still at home being a kid instead of an independant young woman!! (supposedly!!) i really miss my mum and dad!!!
Does anyone else get this or is it just me being a young'un????
Every so often when I see my mum and dad, Mum will cook me some food, or offer to share her new smellies etc. It`s nice. I moved out when I was 15, and was fiercely independant from an early age, but I do appreciate it more now.
I`m an only child, so that helps!
Congratulations on your new life pet

I saw my Mother today
Luckily she didn't see me

Ta hunny, i dont regret moving in here, i love the independance most of the time, what actually triggered this thread was a thought that came out of nowhere!!!! I was just watching something that made me remember my 16th birthday when 7 of my friends and myself were in my bedroom at home (mum and dads) getting ready to go out to the chinese karaoke restaurant and my mum and dad were up and down the stairs bringin us smirnoff ice (topped up with lemonade lol) and nibbles and stuff! I dont know why it made me all nostalgic but it was just a really nice memory!!!
Good smile , I hope I my children take such memories with them when they leave home (or I kick them out, whichever comes first! )
I think it`s a really worthwhile thread, but then I would, I`m a mum! lol

I left home when I was 16, and have never wanted to move back. I've got 8 brothers and sisters and I couldn't wait to get out for some peace and quiet.
I shall feel I've failed as a parent if my own kids don't want independence when they are in their late teens.
I shall miss them but a parent's job is to prepare kids to live on their own and be inedependent.

(Do I sound like an old fart or what?)
make that x2 venus!! I know my mums glad i moved out to get a bit of independence, but i go round every wednesday for lunch and i call her every night so i'm not totally cut off!! which is nice (but we do only live 10 mins away from her, lol!!)
Nobody would ever guess i've never been away from home for more than 2 weeks before, lol!!!
I lived with boyfriends in the past and I really missed my mum and family but now I'm back home I can't wait to get out again!
I just think I get on better with my parents when I don't live with them.......it also sucks to have to share a rooom with your sister at the age of 23!

What on earth could you have been doing that you wouldn't want Mum to see ??????
Must admit I never missed home once I was out, but my mum glad to see the back of me...
Still we made it up over the next few years. Good to see it not all like that, like Venus I hope my kids have some good memories when they finally fly the nest..
Daz you are not being a young un, you just a lucky lady to have such fond memories and close ties. Enjoy them smile
Ah mum and dad........love em both to bits, dont get too see them as much as I should, especially as they are on the last stretch and struggling with the usual problems that age brings, but still a very important part of my life. Couldn't live with them anymore as I have made my own family but bloody brilliant folk.

That's a really sweet memory, Lou, I'm sure you'll keep it with you always. I have lots of similar memories of lots of things my mum and dad (now both dead) did for us kids...things we'll never forget.
Mike.
I moved out and in with Steve when i was 16,and have never regretted it.
Like Venus im also fiercly independant.
About 3 years ago we went on holiday for just 5 days with my parents,it was enough to drive me insane mad
I love my mum and dad to bits but i really dont miss living with them.
Clare,xxx
wink
Been living on my own now for two and a half years now, and I haven't regretted it for one day (except for those days when I have to tend to my garden). It's great being able to do my own thing, eat what I want when I want, watch what I want on TV, etc etc etc...
That said, my Dad and I seem to be growing apart. We were never super-close - we just don't have that much in common - and we just seem to have less and less to talk about every time we meet. :-( :-( :-(
Don't feel lonely there Roger, Mrs TnH has same prob with her parents (Both of them). I just lucky that although my Mum and me had a bad patch my Dad and I have always been close.
It's like the saying down here...
You love to see them, but you also love to see them go!!
I would love to have one last af noon with me old man unfortunately he passed on however Mother and I get on like a house on fire... literally I am sure she could burn my house down sometimes!!
I got on with my mother so well I moved 350 miles away from her lol
Which reminds me, she's coming to say for a week starting on thursday evil   I've got 5 days to find lots of appointments that "i can't possibly get out of"
I moved out of home when i was 18 and never looked back..i love my parents to bits and see them quite often but there is no way i would move back there ever again..I love the freedom of living with someone or alone ( the later at the moment) its hard at first but dont look back and give your rents the chance for some time for themselves now..they probably miss you a lot but trust me its balanced by the freedom they have now as well..all the best with daz...
Joined a mob of blokes and one in particular kept telling me....'I'm yah mother now'.
And you know what he was.....provided everything me and the lads required, and in return we did our duty worship
still live me mine
moved back in after uni this year and have been here since. i have enough money to move out but am considering moving abroad and plus i don't have regular work yet as i'm self employed.
she does let me stay up as late as i want now though me dear old ma :P
I was over the moon at 20 when I moved out. Bought my own place 180 miles away (sought change of job) and had all the space I needed to live my life - my way !! Saw folks about once a month, but when I wanted to...
So its a bit of a bummer when 7 years later I've been forced to move back in with dad cos the cost of living in the South is so f**king expensive (job change again).
If only he'd move in with his girlfriend, and leave me and my brother the house !!!!!!!
have you tried leaving rollerskates at the top of the stairs?
that might get you the house?
During my teenage years, I fought like Billy O with my parents. Was thrown out, moved back in, finally left aged 24.
I don't miss living with them, but I do wish we were closer as a family. I'm an only child and wish we did more together. Wouldn't want to live with them again though.
I really miss my mum at the moment ~ she's on holiday in the Med and my grandad (her dad) is seriously ill and I'm really worried.

Thanks Benz .. we all think this is it for him ... he's not been a well man for a long time and since my Nan died .. well he misses her so much bless him.
I do usually know where daft sayings come from ... we've an odd game that lists a load of them ... but that is one that I have no idea about.
I envy you all who get on with your mums and dads.
My dad died in 1989 and he wasn't missed by anybody. I suppose sometimes people don't deserve nice thoughts.
And I haven't seen my mum since his funeral. She has never seen my daughters. Don't ask...it's a long story.
But I get on so well with my inlaws and they have been better than my own parents. Really nice people and Mrs Fac is very close to them. Unfortunately they are getting on a bit, and both very ill..
