My Friends Reptile Shop

Myself and my daughter went into my friends reptile shop today for a wee looky, and I was in there a mere ten seconds before he pulled a bloody huge spider out of a box to show me. Well, I think I hit near Mach 3 in the opposite direction.
My daughter just stood there in the shop, dismayed at what a big pussy I'd shown myself to be. confused

But never fear folks, the Chunky Lover recovered some Man Points by holding a big assed Boa Constrictor that she was too scared to go near, so once again Dad's a hero. biggrin

Here's a couple of pics of my pal (who owns the shop) holding the Boa..

So, feeling a tad peckish I remembered him mentioning the 'ratsicles' that he feeds his beasts with, so I asked him to break out a couple for us to share.. (See Below - I'm on the left)

Spiders are horrible, but Daddy Long Legs/Dragonflies are absolutely horrendous!!! So fast and fly right at u!
Funny the way they have really potent poison but can't use it tho lol

Ahhhhh snakies!
We had a beautiful boa for a while but have since scaled down the hobby from 46 to 3 snakes. Tis a very expensive hobby, with that many mouths and that much leccy being used!! :P

I hate them with an ungodly passion, and the thing he pulled out of that box was a big, hairy horrible b'stard of a thing.. It could have eaten me AND my daughter, then danced over our licked clean bones

I guess you wouldn't like my pets the,I have precious (7"chile rose tarantula) smaug (5" chile beautiful tarantula) apu (6" indian beauty) or otto (6" baboon spider) or any of precious and smaugs 128 beautiful rose babies then (there used to be a lot more but they ate each other instead of their food) my best mate doesn't like them,and I don't like his snakes,what better excuse could you get for always meeting in the pub smile

The only spiders that make me go "wow I'd love one of those" are Indian Ornamentals and Pink Toes.
Oh and the classic Red Knee smile

We had 2 Chilie Roses, a dwarf Texan Brown and a lovely Orange Baboon (although she had a nasty streak lol :P )
Tanglewood, Alsatians are beautiful dogs, good choice! :)

the first couple i met had a chillie rose i think. i love all reptiles and spiders but ive never held a spider but they do fasinate me. so in the couples house i was all geared up to hold spider when they got it out of the tank and brought it over, it suddenly moved very quickly up her arm. well ive never been grabed by fear so much in my life, i really thought my heart was going to stop :shock:
you can give me the biggest snake in the world to hold but a spider noooo thank you very much

When you hold a spider it just feels like a 8 legged mouse (bear with me on this one....) really it does!

not in your fuckin life!!!
no way would i go near one of those bloody great furry spiders, its bad enough they look like face huggers they are furry to go with it!!!
as for daddylonglegs... and moths... eurrghhhh get them away from me!
but rats and snakes and mice and bats and lizards i can handle... lovely creatures..
my brother had a corn snake for about 10 years but it got too big to be around his lil daughter so he swapped it for a car (strange swap)

Ahhh shame he got rid of it.
At 6ft I wouldnt count corns as big, and theyre docile to boot. Our 3 yr old adores our snakes, but we will only let her hold the corns. The pine has a bit too much 'character' (moody ol' cow!) rolleyes

I can see why some people get concerned about keeping reptiles around youngsters though. Especially if the kiddy-winks are into everything!! lol :P
