Hi guys i need a rant
At the risk of being slated by the admin on here..
Is it me or do the admin spend a lot of time reading profiles and not dealing with problem members that like to send unsolicited spam?
Today i recieved another warning for having something on our profile that says we will name and shame people that do not read our profile and something that doesnt directly say we have too many rules on our profile. Even though on a previous admin contact it said that this content had been removed by the admin team.
Maybe just maybe someone reported YOU!!!
After reading your profile & seeing the "Name & Shame" piece & thought you were possibly a "problem member"....
Why would naming annoying people that keep sending unsolicitied spam to you on your profile be a problem member?
Name and shame is against 'Acceptable Use' policy, doesnt really get simpler than that does it?
I hadnt noticed that when i skimmed through it, but if i remember correctly it was removed by admin some time ago of our profile and not added back on so.. still dont get why another warning.
Besides if their is no longer a clear way of blocking annoying users, how else do we ensure annoying users get the point?
You can put users on ignore in chat and block their mails I think?
I have seen the ignore in chat thing.. used it a few times. But does that ignore them from the main site?
No I think they are two distinct ignore lists, but they both work. Just use the ignore button on the bottom of the offending email and that should add them to your ignored list. If you wanted to add them to your chatroom ignore list then you can do that from the chatroom settings tab?
Go into settings fishnchips & you can block single males from mailing you as you have NO SINGLE MALES on your profile if there the ones causing the problem.
Ah cool. Its just frustrating that this site is a community, and well you would think people that treat it as a community are welcome.
You would think, a user sending numerous unsolicited mails, being ignored by many people would be classed as using the site as a meat market would be disciplined to follow the ethos of the site.
Why do i get the feeling the the people that usually report your profile are the ones offended becuase they are excluded from your profile.

If you do, you are violating my privacy ...and if I find you, your ethics committee will be angry and may possibly kill you. DO NOT USE OR REPRODUCE ANY PART OF THIS PROFILE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED."

If you are having particular problem with a user and their behaviour is out of line, just report them/their messages.
Chatroom ignore list is here - you can add usernames to your heart's content:
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/members/my-chat.html
Mailbox ignore list is here - you can add people on it only through their messages, as mentioned above:
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/members/my-ignorelist.html
And remember - do not feed the animals! ;)
Yeah that was added today. i actually copied and pasted it directly from someone else profile.
Hi, as one of the Mod Team, I'd advise you to drop us a line to explain what you are taking issue with.
We do have a no name and shame policy, which seems to work fine. If you have a problem with the way your site usage is being monitored, and you believe that usage isn't a contravention of the AUP, then do let us know.
Probably best to do it via a support ticket.

Oh look. That's a variation of the warnings I have to researchers. Nice to see people read what I write. LOL.
And yes, I do think warnings are necessary. Much "research" going on at the moment using harvested profile info.
That said. As you were. LOL. rotflmao
I've no problem with the ADMIN Team including Mods and the Chatroom OP's because they do a great job.
Rules are put in place for a reason, I'd have no problem reporting a profile I found offensive.

You come over as both aggressive and ill-informed, particularly with the drivel you wrote
below and which any person with a modicum of intelligence would first laugh at and then altogether ignore.

Well, as it goes, just for the record, like, researchers harvesting profiles for "field" research on internet "dating" will not (or at least should not) ignore such messages. Their ethics or research committees will have given them the freedom to harvest anything in the public domain, unless there is evidence to the contrary. A message on your profile, if you don't want to inwittingly take part in such research is enough to put your common or garden PhD student off.
But yeah, you're right, I guess, that such messages can be ignored, and I am sure many are. But as I'm in the business, and if I ever saw my words produced without my consent in an academic journal, I would play holy hell and give someone professional headaches they really don't need. They would wholly wish they had chosen to do their crappy research with someone else's data lolz.
People looking at profiles for swinging purposes of course can ignore the message, as it is not them it is intended for.
Tiddly boo.

I think your above post above along with the specifics found on your profile info should be enough to dissaude any single male from getting in touch with you, in fact it's probably put off single females and maybe even some even couples.

Any person(s) naming and shaming those who have the audacity to 'try their luck' in an email deserve some punitive action from the 'admin' who incidentally I do not think would 'slate' you for having an opinion, but they may take you to task for breaching some of the rules found in the AUP.
Leave out the rhetoric, stop moaning and enjoy the site
Andy
Let me correct you on a few things.
1. there are lots of profiles that have similar structures to ours.
2. Some even mention race being a criteria for not contacting.
3. Generally we havent had an issue with a couples attention, no couples or females tend to be like guys mass winking, emailing and giving on eliners
4. I dont think we come across aggressive, we just come across to the point. If you find that aggressive maybe you should walk around wrapped in cotton wool.
5. The "drivel" is firstly not written by me.. as stated i have simply copied and pasted as is. Yes there is some humour in the statement about the person being killed. But a more serious message. I did not realise profiles where being harvested for research. Evidently numerous profiles have messages of similar content added, so i added it today just in case. If it is a rumour, the admin team should help by quashing it.
6. I didnt say every member contacting should, just repeated offenders. I.e. the admin team will no doubt have a recorded of how many winks users send, how many friends requests. Lets take facebook for an example. If a person send more than a number of friends requests, it warns the user. Same with adding someone, when a request is sent, it asks why you didnt accept the request (did you know the person).
I generally dont moan about the site, and i do enjoy it. However being contacted by admin to warn me of content on my profile, which does not directly offend, anyone without explanation of exactly what is a bit unnessasary.
I never said the admin team are doing a bad job. With over 1.3 million members i can imagine there is a lot od admin and moderation work. BUT i was having a rant because today i felt paricularily annoyed because i was told about having what seems like too many rules.. when simply its just ensuring people are clear what we like and want and dont want.
We are not here just to get laid by any old tom dick or harry, we come here to chat.. find like minded people, make friends and socialise. Its why we use the forum even though for us some of the features make it particularily difficult.
We use the chat room and generally politely tell single guys messaging us we are not interested or to take a look at the profile etc.
Now please do find something on my profile that directly offends and how it directly offends you? then i will see how i can wrap it in flowers for you!

It is not a rumour.
There is no evidence (as I know of) that this site in particular is being targetted, however. I have this warning, as many others do, in various forms, spread all over the internet. What I do have evidence of, however, are psychologists and various forms of social scientists, doing research on subjects such as internet dating, how different types of people use the internet for sex, etc etc. I have been to conferences and talks where data like this has been presented. I work with people who do this sort of research (not on swingers sites, incidentally). I can absolutely promise you that this is not a rumour. I could give you links to pubished academic research where profile info has been harvested. Usually, they are very good and only give general information, but you never know, bad research is out there. Believe me, bad research is out there.
If you don't mind your profile info being used in academic research, that's fine. Your anonymous, aren't you? And you'll almost certainly never read the published articles, unless you are into that sort of thing professionally. It's not a problem, unless you, like me, feel a bit uncomfortable about it. I think it's my professional status that makes me feel uncomfortable.
But you have to remember that anything that you put in the public domain can be used for any purpose, other than what it was intended. If you really don't want people to read and re-publish what you say, don't say it in the first place! But if you kinda, like me, just feel a bit *ugh* about it, keep the warning to researchers and crack on having a good time!

As above. Those doing research will do (and should abide by it, unless they are very very naughty).

It's possible that the ridiculous comment about killing you may invalidate the whole section. It certainly devalues it.

LOL. As a member of an ethics committee myself, if a researcher went off and did naughty research on my watch, I would kill them. At least, leave them with scars. Hehehehehehehehe
It's a complete and utter pain when people do naughty research.
BOOM!

See, being in the business, I know that most psychologists have a sense of humour.
I like the "kill you" comment cos I have the ability not to take tongue in cheek, jokey comments seriously.
It only devalues the overall message, if you have had some sort of sense of humour bypass.
If you're under orders not to commit evil research sins, you will get the message loud and clear.
Anyhooo.... wish I hadn't even commented at all now. I think I will go and take my doctorate back and spend the rest of my life plaiting daisies
BOOMEROONY!

I do see it as a funny comment - my sense of humour is fully intact. My point was that it makes the whole "Legal Bit"statement a joke and as such warnings about not using the data for research could be legitimately ignored by those who want to do the research.

Lol no no, your comments are valid. I copied that statement because i thought it had a point, and liked the humour in it.. made it less "aggressive". Evidently some people have taken it as i will find them and kill them, or have thought that its a serious threat.
So i think i will get one of the PC crew to write my profile biggrin

Using a persons race to determine if they will meet them or not is perfectly fine as long as it is done in an acceptable manner...
You yourself express a special interest in meeting Asian couples....

It's not required to tell you who has been or how they have been offended....
Only that someone is and as such has made a complaint...
