I can see the day when a 'private' forum option is offered. Catering for a variety of self made cliques.

You can already have that, open up your own group and you have your own forum already made for you!!
Let me know the name of it and I can post in your forum!!
think it may have been said before but a logo for extra's members would be good or at least some recognition that you are a paid up member .
steve ......apart from that the new inprovements are superb biggrin :D :D
Too many sections. I've had a look through them and now i can't be arsed to trawl through each of them each time. I already have two other sites open, i don't need another 5 or 6 sections when the cafe was already struggling to fill up.
I can't really see what advantage it has dunno
All of the above really. Soap Box and Current Affairs could clearly be merged, maybe even with the Steam Room. Having a Steam Room forum with a Steam Room sticky at the top does seem kinda redundant. confused Also feel that having a seperate swinging forum suggests that the Cafe is somehow not about swinging? What then is it's purpose? :? Seems to be relegating what has traditionally been the main focus of the forum for most users to just chit-chatty stuff? More unnecessary dilution IMO.
I don't like the idea of a seperate newbie introduction forum either. Don't see how intro threads impact on the Cafe all that much that they need their own forum. I wonder if making members go out of their way to click into it will tend to result in less interaction with newbies, giving the appearance that we are not all that welcoming, a charge that is frequently levelled against older forumites? :? The main advantage of fewer forums is that you don't have to go out of your way to be inclusive, which makes that interaction less forced, and more natural.
I've never been a fan of multiple forums, because members do naturally gravitate to what they know ((( I log straight into the Cafe, and only check the others when I'm bored. ))) and in my experience of other sites, you do end up with less interaction, redundant duplication and dilution of content I think.

its to confuss doughnut's.................. rolleyes
And it worked....... lol
The "Introduce Yourself" forum - when new folk introduced themselves in "the old days", they'd get lots of replies welcoming them from passing traffic (people pausing while checking out the threads in the cafe) - now there are just a few messages on each from forumites who have been kind enough to take time out to go into that forum and reply.
Definitely counter-productive, if the site wants to be seen as encouraging new members/posters.

OK - so I've got to go to the Homebase forum for the screw and the Do it All forum for the screwdriver!
:giggle:
.

Watch this space.
OK - so where do I put the screw?
Pleeeeeease can we reconstitute the Café and maybe rationalise the Let's Meet Up - but that's all.
I'm missing me friends......
.
Perhaps the steam room within a steam room was meant to be the domain of steaming women afflicted with PMT.

What are the all for ??
You cant homogenize a forum, it makes it pointless. Come on guys, if some people dont want to read a spectrum of views then they dont want a forum.
I don't see the point of having separate forums for Steam Room, Current Affairs or Just For Fun. Incorporate them back into the Cafe.
As it is now, it's too spread out and while the Cafe used to be a great place to come to chat about anything at all, now it seems to have lost it's soul

But it's gained a lot of hair though.

I like the idea of the new forum but after a couple of days I have to say I agree with you Sassy.
For some reason the current forum seems too diluted, and unfocused. Perhaps there are too many categories which seemed to have been created at random. There have been comments about certain categories being merged? Perhaps it needs another revamp.
I also wonder whether some, if not all, of the subjects under "In The Spotlight" (top of left hand column) could be incorporated into the forum, rather than creating fake categories?
dunno
I'm not completely anti the new forums. In fact, I reckon there have been a fair few new posters about the place since they changed and that has to be good, surely?
I definitely think the Soapbox and Current Affairs forums need to be merged.
And why not make the Swinging forum more a place for people to ask questions/seek advice? If it was like that, then it maybe more use to people. Invariably, a lot of the stuff in the cafe is borderline about swinging anyway - so a specific place to ask questions might be helpful and then the funny/naughty/smutty sort of posts could stay in the cafe.
Whilst I personally don't have anything against the Introductions bit being separate (but then I've been popping in there and responding to people's posts) I suppose I can see the point about it not being inclusive. Why not have an 'Introduce Yourself' sticky at the top of the cafe?
I like the Just for Fun bit being separate and I think more folk are posting in the holiday forum than used to in the Travellers Solutions sticky.
I think Let's Meet Up could possibly be split into Socials/Munches and then a more generic Meets type of forum.
Just my twopenn'orth.

I'm in your head now........ cool
... and anyhow, with all these new fora, why not all the apropriate buttons for each one across the bottom, as there are still at present, though just for the original format, namely: Cafe, Let's Meet Up, Chat & Dogging?
Like this:
Introduce Yourself The Cafe Soapbox Current Affairs Swinging Let's Meet Up Dogging Holidays Just for Fun Chatroom Lounge Steam Room
oh yes, that's why

Yes I noticed that too!
There is another point I'd like to make though and that is, with the increased number of items in the forum, perhaps putting everything in alphabetical order would make things more user friendly?
dunno
bbw - that would give us the following if you meant the forums?
Chatroom Lounge
Current affairs
Dogging
Introductions
Just for fun
Holidys
Lets Meet Up
The Cafe
soapbox
Steam Room
Swinging
Some of text on forum hasn't been done yet if it needs coding in...

It would actually put The Cafe at the bottom of the page... just after Swinging. Probably not the best order for the forums on a swinging site lol

Mmmmmm? Probably needs further thought.
I was hoping to find something that was more logical, but was also easy to scan. I'll have to give it more thought.

Oooh well I have an idea, it's radical but it just might work - why don't we merge the threads into maybe 3 or 4 new ones? Call them something like, oooh, I dunno - The Cafe, Let's Meet Up, Dogging and Chatroom?

  That's very radical. However, sometimes the most ridiculous of ideas do actually work... maybe it'd be worth a try
given it short while..and do feel there are to many..heres my list;
Cafe..includes introduction thread as a sticky
Soapbox...for political or non swinging controversial topics
Lets meet up....for include meets you want on holiday
Munch and social....for offical munches and socials being arranged
Dogging.... for all things dogging related
Chatroom... for all things chatroom related
hopefully above would not be to confuseing for everyone....and lead to us all posting more. Does seem a little quiet at moment, since the change.
