OK change of owners and a few changes to the site, we are considering a new logo which will look like my avatar, as this is a community how about some feedback.
I'm told there's a few graphic designers here so feel free to post your alternatives.

well, I kinda like it........but perhaps not as the main logo????
I think we like the oval thingy, as this is reflected in the SH pins that people have taken the time trouble and money to design and produce.......I like the Union Jack reference to this being a UK only site ..... best of British and all that....
am not a graphic designer, so have no suggestions....but it would make a lovely feminine tatt design ( in greyscale) !!
The oval element of the current design is used on the SH Pins, so losing that would render the pins that people put a lot of time and effort into creating rather meaningless.
I have to say I'm of the opinion that if it ain't broken, don't fix it... can we have that option in the poll too?
While this site does have a slightly home-made (or perhaps I should say naive?) graphic feel to it, I think that is one of the reasons it's successful, it makes it easy for people to believe the page that says this is a free site if it doesn't look like it's had a fortune spent on designers.
As a designer, I guess I have to ask the client for a brief... How do you want to reposition the brand? Do you want to remove the Union Jack element to allow the site a more international appeal? Does your choice of more subdued blue colours on the new proposal intended to tie in with a new colour scheme for the html elements of the site? Is the current logo (or indeed the proposed one) with it's female form sufficiently 'PC'?
Well the new owners can and will introduce new logos amongst other things, they own the site so they can do what they want..
We are being asked do we like what has been proposed or would we like them to "go back to the drawing board" and try again.......... Logically it will always be a "yes and yes" answer cos "no change" doesn't exist cos it is their site and things will change........ so no point in going down that road really is there?
So if we accept that's how things are, us two like the logo....... it ain't garish and is pretty smart compared to some you see .....

Not that keen on it to be honest as a main logo
just tried printing the logo out in the badge format.
It doesn't work, there is too much detail in the badge and just looks a squiggly mess in small graphics.
The only way to make it work (at the moment) is to make it transparent and put it as a background which defeats the object.
what someone seems to have done is try to make the avatar background the same colour as the post background... he/she should have taken a screen shot and used the eye-drop tool, but it would still only works on one colour of post...
So from the munch badge graphic design team, at the moment.....sorry but it needs a lot of work.
Viewing the results most think(at this early stage) that it can be improved..
is it that this is gonna be the official logo and you are just giving it an airing or is it gonna be a joint venture between the membership and the management??
Personally I like it.....Looks quite classy to be honest(not that I disliked the origional logo you understand)...
Here's how the new proposal would look in the current site design. I have to say I think it simply doesn't work. The text is too small, and the colours too weak, it's clearly being overpowered by the rest of the layout. That's not to say it couldn't work with a sympathetic redesign of the rest of the site, but as it stands...
I'll come back with a design or two of my own when I have time to fit it round my paying clients, but I'd still like to see 'keep the current logo' as a poll option, or a brief about what a new logo is intended to achieve, otherwise I'm going to be blundering about in the dark.
