Its in your browser Cache control f5 I think about 5 minutes but maybe a few hours I will ask the techies. Angel has posted a direct link to her picture so everyone will be able to see it following that. But Its NOT in the page it was showing on in the gallery so everything is working as it should.
Im off home now so speak to you laters bye bye biggrin
Oooh You can rate videos too!
You little tinkers!

Totally disgusted with this. evil
Off to move my photos pronto, untill this stupid idea is removed mad
Thats that done

And all our pics have similarly been moved to private gallery until the grandees of SH Towers get their act together and get rid of this deplorable idea.
What set of idiots came up with this and really believed the membership would be happy???
how many noticed it till th op posted this thread ? lol
is there a rate the size of willy function? so we can?

I didn't notice it.
I've never been into the gallery section until today.
I had no idea my pics were even in there. I didn't notice it saying they would be showing in a gallery when I uploaded them to my profile so I've never thought to look to be honest. I look at profiles of people I'm interested in when I've noticed them in chat or on the forums rather than raking through thousands of random pics. Just my way. It's a choice you see, my choice.
i know , thats what concerns me,how long till we realised if a post wasnt made.
i never realised at first that my pics were in gallery, when i did i removed them, then chose more carefully. they are now back in private.
just would have been nice to be told.
i can see the tagging idea and reasons behind it, kinda, but let the owner of the pic tag it, then allow members to report it if its not as tagged.

 Agreed!
I can't see that it would have been a huge problem for a notice to have been put on our homepage, much the same as the questionnaires were that apparently led to the latest changes. Each individual could then tag their own pictures, and/or move them into the private gallery. If it's such a huge problem having loads of pics untagged or whatever, then give a timescale on when they need to be tagged by. Given enough notice (eg the end of April) Any pics that aren't tagged by then could be deleted, and if people are unhappy about that, nobody can say they weren't warned. Upload new pics and tag them as you go along. Simples confused

We have a private image gallery for anyone who wants to keep pictures private and out of the public gallery.

Yes, and a very useful function that is. Except, look at this link http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/members/gallery/photo/3289584/?c=public&t=3&n=58#tag
That's a picture of me that is :smug:
And it's in my fucking private gallery!!! banghead Why is it still showing in the tagging gallery?? Check my profile if you don't believe me. You'll see that it says 12 pictures, but then when you try to view the pics, it tells you that I don't currently have any pictures.
So why am I still showing up on HotOrNot?!!!
evil mad
By going through Angel's profile, and gallery I can see that she has 12 pictures on her private gallery and I'm not authorised to view them.
No pictures are in her public gallery.
But by clicking on the link, I can view the picture.
Ding Dong !!!!
Oh and I clear temp files, history, cache and the dishes every time I log off my computer, so 100% guarantee that it wasn't already resident on my pc.

We need the public help for the following reasons.
1. We have 500,000 to do if people did all their own and we could rely on them to do them we would not need any help. Fact is most will not bother so that would be a huge issue.
2. If we cant get them tagged we would need to delete them, now if a few of you are frustrated now imagine how that would make thousands of people feel?
3. Very often you get people trying to pass off as women etc or something they are not. Taking a maximum of ten tags on each picture or video will make sure this will be represented correctly. This is the most honest and accurate way to do it.

you're thinking backwards..
all you needed to do was to send a PM to every account, disable all the pics and tell them so in the PM. you could've told them their pics would be activated again only after being tagged.
that way, each and every one of us would've really tagged our own pics, and it would have not left anybody feel "exposed".
I don't see how any form of rating could help certify the quality of a pic, specially if left to every random passing member, who might know zilch about photography, have a bad computerscreen and maybe a spiteful/joking attitude towards the whole rating thing.
suggestions:
1)in the future, when you plan radical changes to the profiles and the instruments that the members can use, tell us in advance and ask us at least to get the general feel of the "public"...even if you plan to go ahead with it nevertheless.
2) create a "news" box on the homepage, or a popup, where you clearly advertise explain and illustrate the novelties you have launched, how they work and what not to do with them.
3) do the same with the projects you are working on, use the forum to poll for opinions on new ideas...
quite simply put, more brains think better than one, and as these instruments are there for the members to use, it would be wise to look at things from their standpoint...asking "what do you think of this idea?" can give us a chance to participate in the evolution of the website and find flaws you might not have thought of.
purely in terms of human resources, I figure you've thought and debated this new tagging system, designed it, coded it and then tested it, before putting it online. I assume that had you had a totally negative reaction as you seem to be having, in the early stages, you'd have corrected the project or dropped it altogether...from a professional point of view that would have been better time management..ultimately, money better spent.
one final big issue I'll bore you to death with, before putting away my virtual soapbox:
however you want to look at it, tagging the pics is simply a way of rating them. you can have people who are totally biased and maybe spiteful do rating..you can have disagreements on what is "tall, short, bbw, big, average, hairy..."..(I haven't read the options available, I'm going by what I've read so far in the topic)... these definitions are totally subjective, and you'll end up having to look at all of them anyway, to ensure nobody has tagged a pic in a spiteful, unrealistic way, or nobody has tried to "oversell" his looks (quite tipically, there are girls who call themselves slim that other men would call medium sized..and don't get me started on penis sizes, as it seems I'm the only average bloke of the website)
in other words, your rating system is a way for each of us to be labelled..
several of us don't like labels and most of us have joined this website under the assumption that the swinging comunity should be a place where you can be yourself, whatever your looks are...and that this is a "safe haven" where the swinging scene can put its slippers on
also, many of us have issues with our looks, and don't like to "really" know how other people see us. it is their right to think so and not to be labelled. the quality of our pics or looks (because ultimately the focus of the rating WILL be on the looks and not on the quality of the pic) should be of interest only of those of us who get in touch and decide to meet, or not to.
giving random people the chance to label a pic, what you do is actually bring elements into the swinging idea that have no place on the scene. the personal idea about the looks of other members should provide us with an instrument to decide whether to approach them or gently and without offending anybody, move on.
quite frankly, not all of the ladies here are kim basinger, nor do I look like richard gere or brad pitt. this however should be the one place where this is of no consequence..otherwise we might as well go and "pull" in a pub...
introducing a rating system, you throw away the idea of safe haven
personal immage, on a website where the main subject is sex, and bodies are so important, is quite a sensible subject..likely to stir the most sedate of the members. knowing this, you should've used more tact.
had you asked before putting it online, and given the option to all of us to decide for ourselves if we wanted to be rated, you would have had little or no objection

I agree, however, labels are the only way a search facility can work, only in this instance, they have gone down the road of sites like flickr, and called the labels 'tags'
In this case, they are nothing more than keywords.

And yet, time and again, we find ourselves here in the forum, tying ourselves in knots because Admin have brought in some new feature or other without letting people know beforehand that they were under scrutiny or whatever.
Melting Pot, you've come up with lots of good points, most of which (I'd imagine) seem like common sense to the swingers on the site. Unfortunately, it's at times like these that Admin prove just how little they know about swingers and the swinging scene in general. I'd like to think that will change one day, but I'll not be holding my breath rolleyes
trouble is..."who is doing the labelling?"

A bunch of wankers....
sad Oh dear.
Poorly thought out and even more poor that it was implemented.
If the new search can't be made to ignore untagged photos, then I suggest you take your programmers out into the carpark and smack them with wet fish until they fix it.
Seriously? Come on. If a photo doesn't have any tags in the database then omit it from the search engine, it's not difficult. Hey, I'll even write the code for you in whatever language you want with my hands tied behind my back, blindfolded while being force fed marshmallows.
Likewise, it's just as easy to show in the photo gallery that you have UNTAGGED photos and they will therefore be ommited the search engine, put the onus on the OWNER of the photo to tag it.
By all means have an "Report incorrectly tagged photo" button which alerts the moderators if a photo is marked as being mistagged X amount of times.
This is quite simply the worst idea I've seen implemented in a long time. Farewell SH, Hello Mingebook, what's next, txt spk winks? Throwing sheep?
Oh and while we're at it, any chance of making the site stats actually reflect reality? 968K users? pull the other one. How about dropping users from the stats if their account has been inactive for 6 months? I'm more than happy to help with the SQL statement for this too.

So if I wanted to put some new pictures into my private album, I'd have to tag them when I upload them? And will they be public at any time?

Agree with everything in your post...the database management on here is rubbish !
You did forget to add americanised shite to the reason for tagging though !! smile

Everyone had a chance to give their input on the site wide feature survey and give us comments... thousands did.
Same as the "Verification" stuff, forum users convinced us for years it would be certain site death. As it turns out after a site wide survey the vast majority of people were in favour of verification. Unfortunately the forum is not indicative of the site, the verification vote proved that.
We will always listen to as many users as possible but the vote will always go to the majority. With nearly a million members you will alwas get dissafected members.
After the changes have been made you will get a chance to use them and then vote on them same as the vote on the chat page ATM. If the majority hates the change we will revert it. Everyone gets a say in the site this way and it is fair.
I appreciate your feedback, this is normal, over the years there has been notable resistance to the most popular parts of the site.. people dont like change.
Video chat, see if you can find the posts on that "sometimes we get 60 in the chatroom". No one wants video. No genuine swinger would use that blah blah blah.
As I recall Private galleries were shunned upon because people either thought they were missing out or thought people had things to hide and loads of married men would use them etc etc.
The list goes on and on, and to be fair until you see the result of what we are doing its hard to comment.
In 6-8 months time when its rolled out and after you have used it with the new adds system etc if you still hate it you get to vote on it wink .
There will also be a forum questionaire and vote coming up to find out why so few people use it, and also find out if people want to keep it exactly how it is or change and update the software with suggestions.. Again it will ruffle feathers but if the majority want new software after a vote that is the way we will have to go. Im afraid one size does not fit all. 2009 will see a lot of changes here remember to have your vote  .

WOW and we were slated for having an opinion pro verification in the forum and through private messages via a mod. I guess when you really listen to what people want rather than having a closed minded opinion of your own and those who agree with you get to see the bigger picture. Maybe those who voted in the survey did so not worried of which mod they may offend?
I feel for you lol we had it time and time again as well.
A vote is the only way before you do something, then after to double check. biggrin looks like you got your wish with the majority on that one.
im getting lost now? have i missed a private joke or something. i dont know what your referring to?
i dont mind the tag thingy, just would have been good to know it was happening.
xx fem xx
what are all the winks after the voting bits meaning?
are we about to be hit with something big?
I dont know fem.. Im not really a forum user  not really my thing is this better lol
Or 69position
It sounds like the survey in general has been a good thing as it has given everybody the real picture of the site rather than a select few opinion on how it should be.
GnB - Delighted with the improvements!
The thing is Martin, I still don't know why we weren't told in advance that our pics would be subject to a marking system so that we'd have the opportunity to move them before other users had the chance to "rate" us or "tag" us. Why wasn't I told that? It was easy enough for you to put the questionnaires up, I really don't see why you couldn't put something on my homepage telling me that this was going to happen.
I don't want to be labelled as a BBW, although doubtless that's what others might see me as. I don't want my picture quality rolleyes marked out of ten by randoms.
I understand that there will be changes to the site. I was one of the people with a loud voice right from the off, but I'm still here. I understand that there will be site facilities (such as verification) that I don't want, but as long as I'm given the option to use or not use them, I ain't bovvered.
Just don't put my pictures out there for others to judge without my say so. That's all I'm asking.
Or how about this
:therethere:
i like that one, much needed this last 2 weeks
sad
oh nowt to do with here btw

So what is your thoughts on how the forum vote will turn out?.
New software
VB
IPB
PHBB
Keep it as it is?
I have no idea what way that will go

Is this a new tactic? Ignoring the questions you've already been asked and changing the subject to ask a question most forum users won't be able to answer anyway? dunno
