Oh to be Management...!!!

I'm fed up with my Manager giving me tasks what are obviously he's responsibility...he certainly takes the credit for what I produce....!!
I'm a contractor, therefore have very limited HR support although the small team I work with (permies) are fed up with him too..but they accept his lazy ways...!
It's really begining to get me down.... evil

....but what do I do...??

Too late...someone has already done that...he couldn't have been born that stupid....!
I know he's on borrowed time, but it doesn't stop him stressing everyone out...to the max.
Anyway.....my contract is due for renewal in May....my fees are being hicked up..!!!

I'm glad to hear everything is good on Planet Jude, must be nice for you !
Being unhappy at work can have a HUGE impact on your life and if you don't have anyone to turn to discuss it, things can get very serious.
When you say "we" who exactly are you including in this ? Where in the rule book does it say we can only discuss subjects you like !!!???
I am in a tough position at work which I recently shared with the good people in the forum and I found plenty of people who where, a) willing to listen b) willing to offer advice and c) share their own exeperiences.
If this type of discussion bothers you, go and read another post ! mad

As both a manager and an employee all I can add is 'behaviour breeds behaviour' - use corporate policies to address problems and behave towards your colleague as you'd want him/her to behave towards you.
My own philosophy is that NO-ONE is superior to me - I may be senior to others whilst others are senior to me but superiority is not an issue. Each to their own.
As for Judy's remarks - this site is for everyone, regardless of whether you agree with the comments or not. Judy and I have had our own 'issues' in the past and will, no doubt have some in the future, but it does not negate anyone's right to comment as he/she wishes within the AUP. As long as Judy is friendly and non-abusive then the comments stand and are indicative of Judy's feelings.
Move on!

We all have shit going on in our life .......THIS IS NOT THE PLACE.
I come here to meet people and listen to how things are going on in general in the swinging world NOT about work and not to be totally depressed. As for planet Judy ..I will take care of that in my own way and I sure as shit wont want you to sort it. You worry about your life, I certainly wont come on here moaning about it and work. Loads of people are unhappy at work or at home, if we all posted the trials and tribulations of work etc the site would be a right depressing place. It isn't a agony aunt. There is enough negatives in the world as it is. I really don't need to hear about WORK. It cant be sorted here. Tell the wife, tell the barmaid, tell your boss, tell your mate down the pub. They may want to hear all about it.

I agree with a lot of what has been said.....hooray for freedom of speech (so to speak).
Therefore....In my opinion...and according to the AUP...and as a member of this site..this is the place for my opinions...reagardless of the subject.....what's happened to community spirit and all that....?
If one comes on here to meet ppl (so do I...but. not my only reason for being here.!) then fine by me and the best of luck to you....but..my post wasn't about meeting ppl...so why bother reading it..if the subject was deemed as 'things going on in general'..then why moan about it....... dunno

In my opinion...what ever makes one depressed doesn't automatically make 'other' members depressed....is one jumping the gun....again..!!!
Perhaps one could post a post inclusive of:
Fun = Happy
Happy= a good time
In you own time of course...... wink

Back to the original point.....
In management terms - a good manager is one who gets the work done (which yours does - by you) to an acceptable standard and within the desired timeframe (which he does if is taking the credit for it). Or another way to put it - managers manage what needs to be done, by when and by who. You have a good manager. He may well be a shit leader - but he appears to be managing quite well.

Hmm not sure on that last comment....... If you are manging you need a team behind you to man the boat. How can you be manging well if people are thinking of jumping out of the boat.

Cheeky in my earlier stuff, I forgot to mention if he is getting on your case / bullying / intimidating then you need to record it and try to state in a mater of fact maner that it is not acceptable or conjucive to good team working.

Especially considering your apparent regret in posting it initially because you earlier requested the thread to be locked in only your second post, complete with an apology. However you now seem to feel the need to justify your original post. Isn't it wonderful to see that we not only have freedom of speech but the freedom to change ONES mind too.
