techie stuff yes i can do but that needs looking at probable, sorry cant be of more use.
its a physical thing and without looking at it or knowing total building specs.......
sorry
Never mind!!!
It was worth a shot!!!
Teach me to drink, and try to turn the dvd player off, and carry the laptop by the bottom!!!!
A disaster waiting to happen!!!
Probably cost as much fix as a new laptop. most have the hinges built into the case so a lot of work and a new screen case and/or lower case.
Might help if you can put a picture of it on here
Where do you live?
If you dont have house insurance im on my way round with my swag bag.
How many others do not have contents insurance?
Or am i just that clumsy that i warrant having insurnace lol.
Too far from you to warrant you coming an robbing us!!!
The only thing worth anything is my DVD collection, but that will take you so long to get in your swag bag (993 at the last count) it wouldnt be worth it.
I suppose you could try nicking the parrot. But if you value your fingers, you maybe dont wanna do that!!
Thats a lot of car boot stock.
Parrots dont fetch much down the local market so not worth nicking really, well not worth losing a finger over anyhow.
how about if its ferked you take out your insurance and claim in a fortnights time?
How dare you suggest my parrot isnt worth much!!!
How many parrots do you know shout 'F**k off you dozy bint'
out of the window!!!!
Tsk!!
Building insurance is compulsary if you have a mortgage and you lender will require proof of it......but contents insurance is not.....
I am with a large high street lender and i did not have to show proof of my cbuildings insurance, i was aware that i should have done and i only got written confirmation of my cove some 4 weeks after moving.
The advisor even ticked the box on the relevant form for her having seen my proof of insurance! i just kept quiet and carried on.
Parrots with ASBO's next then lol
I definately have got it as i just only recently asked for a policy document to be sent out.
I figured i may aswell have something from them seeing as they take a wedge of my monthly income!
sorry again cant helapwith the hinges thing but please get contents insurance.
its not alot each month but worth the world should you have a fire and lose everything.
please delete if not allowed ... but more then do a very competitive one, if you get the basic fire flod theft thing with no accidental damage ( which is what bulks the price up) they cover up to 40k basic and even cover accidental damage on audio, computer tv equipment.
sorry but its something i swear by.I had a policy , never claimed then 3 days before renewal my house was broken into, they paid out over £800 and it was only a few things knicked. makes you realise how much you do actually own.
i know it cant take the feeling and upset away but please get insurance.

I agree with you.
Just add up the cost of beds, chairs, tables, sofa, telly, hi fi, cd, clothes, linen, towels, crockery, cutlery, glasses, kids games and other stuff, dvd, laptop, carpets, curtains, clothes, shoes, microwave, hoover, duvets etc etc.
To buy that lot even cheaply from scratch is at least £1000, or there abouts possibly a lot more in some cases.
We had our house burn down without contents insurance we ended up in a tiny flat with absolutely nothing. Thank god for the Salvation Army they really did help.
After 12 years of homemaking we lost a lot of stuff including things such as kids school clothes and toys (it had been Christmas a week or so before.
It took almost a year for the building to be habitable again it was a very bad time from which 6 -7 years later we still havent got back to where we were.
I just thank god we all got out of the house safely and that the Mrs and I were into each other enough to whether the stress which was not inconsiderable.
As Fem says It isn't a great deal each month and though you may rue having to pay for what hopefully is absolutely nothing. At least if the unspeakable happens there is some solace.
back to laptops though, my son has a Tiny laptop and his power adapter had broke so bought a cheaper version off a site but it didnt fit right and has burnt out, I have been on the Tiny website and they have been taken over by another company and dont do adapters for it!!!!
who was it that mentioned a well known buying site as I wonder if I might get one off there if im lucky
Ok. The contents insurance - I had to move back in with my parents due to a bad breakup. Unfortunatly they won't bother with unnecessary contents insurance whilst the pub serves alcohol. They have different priorities.
I have now set up contents insurance. Mainly as since I moved back here, most of the expensive equiptment in the house is mine. (The parrot is seperatly insured).
I will have a look on the web for hinges. But I arn't going to hold out much hope as the hinges appear to be moulded to the main base of the laptop!!!
Thanks everyone.
Thanks!!!!
I think its great, all that you said Debz. Everybody being helpful and lovely, and I'm in a fluffy mood today, wonderful, and generally nice people!!!
Just goes to show that when we try to be nice, we are very good at it!!!!
