I would love to travel and see new places to take in the feeling of the history and culture of different countries, and to be able to see some magnificent sights.
I haven’t travelling very far outside of the British Isles but some of my favourite places here, are
Cornwall: For its quaint fishing harbours with cobble stone streets where I can imagine the smugglers running up them with their stash of loot.
Highlands of Scotland: For the barren landscape of rolling mountains with the heather growing and the sheep graving on one side and the other with the lush greenness surrounding Loch Lomond.
The Channel Islands Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, and Sark: The rugged coastlines and cliff tops walks breathe taking views.
What Country and places have you seen that you have enjoyed?
Enjoyed your holiday Minxy ????

Hi Minx
My fav place was Naples, its a city that is full of colour sound and life, the bay of naples is fantastic and the brooding presence of Vesuvius is amazing! The food, the women and the location all fantastic
Oooooo, that was a quick flounce!
For a quick sun holiday, we love The Canaries, and the nudist beaches there, islands are not that pretty though.
Home wise, The Yorkshire Dales, The lakes and surrounding areas, which are all on our doorstep, so we are very lucky.
Wales is stunning too, lots of good walking there.
Cape town was the best place we have been to, amazing out there.
I would like to do Asia, and experience the cultures out that way one day, but I think it wont happen!
Lucys post.
WB Minxy!! :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:
Wb Minxy... I knew me threatening to come around and strip naked in your front garden unless you stayed would make you see sense...
As for places to go and see... Greece is beautiful. Been there a couple of times and would love to see a bit more. I struggle in the heat though, so I probably need to go when it is a little less stifling...
I am also a sucker for Florida. It is the child in me.

Wales has everything I believe and also things that aren't real such as the language so it has fantasy as well. Also Birmingham lies to its East so there is humour close at hand too. If you could move Liverpool down and left a bit then it could have a musical heritage as well and thats OK I dont think they would mind.
A must visit in wales are the Lochs of mwchlwychlocgogogoch where the quaintest of steam trains wends its around the small villages that sit nestling on the shores. The sweet ladies with those hats with buckles on them, baking Welsh cakes. Oh that sweet confection of pink and yellow section cake with a Marzipany surround so nice so Welsh.
Rome - an incredible amount of beauty, history and culture packed into one smallish hectic, chaotic dirty busy city.
Paris - the most elegant place I've been to. Beautiful and dignified.
The Lake District has absolutely unparalleled scenery. It's wild and rugged but still somehow cosy and friendly.
We tend to take for granted what we have and where we live. I live 5 mins from the sea here in Devon but don't make the most of the 3 miles of beautiful beach. One of my most favourite places is about 10 miles away, Branscombe - some may remember it as the place where the MSC Napoli grounded some time ago.
It is one of the longest vilages in UK. The main road, lined with cottages, winds through the countryside and suddenly opens to the pebble beach. That surprise view always takes my breath away. It is still recovering from the Napoli effect at present unfortunately.
The next village along is called Beer and is bigger but also very quaint.
If I'm thinking furher afield. One of the things that blew my mind was snorkeling in the Red Sea. Egyptian countryside itself is dry and mountainous in places but get in the sea and its another world! The coral and the fish!! - awesome.
I appreciate beautiful cities but tend to be more impressed by natural landscapes.

(Minx-glad to see you didnt give in to whatever it was that disturbed you. wb xx)
The place for me is India;
the first impression that i got from it was oh my gawd get me back on the damn plane !
however once you have settled the atmosphere hits you on how peaceful it is and i didn't want to return home and its soo cheap for the finest of food !
If you would like a completely alien place to visit, try American. If you would like a more civilized state, Hawaii is good, but do get away from the beech you see on 50. It is smaller, dirtier and studded with military emplacements. It must have been far more beautiful when it was a royal residence.
Oh and the people are friendly, even most of the American invaders.
Do go to Volcano Village, you will find a rain forest, and just down the road lava fields, lava channels, vast craters, steam vents and sea. In the village there is a Thia restaurant that you must try. The decorator is a weird mix of Thia and Japanese, full of lucky cat from Japan and lucky elephants from Thailand, and it must have worked, the place is full most nights.
Avoid the chains, try the local hotels and restaurants, they have character. If you go to a Japanese hotel, you will be able to ask for a Japanese room. The family/owners will explain everything in English, from how to hold your chop sticks to how to use a Japanese bath. All will stand you in good stead if you move on to Japan.
Wow some great advice and some fantasic places you have been to my imagination is running away with me.
I would like one day to visit some of the places mentioned if the oppotunity arises.
I also have always wanted to go to India I don't know why just a place I would like to go.
Austria to is a pull for me.
Italy to as my ancestors are from there so would like to visit.
