now instead of the police resources being used to capacity at kicking out time.... they will now be stretched beyond their capabilities by being required to uphold the law 24 hrs a day.

I think you have that the wrong way round. Here's what I've seen senior Police saying on TV, and I think it makes a lot of sense: Currently the police are unable to deal with the huge numbers of drunks on the streets at 11:30, but by splitting the 11:30 rush into manageable portions through the night, the police will be less stretched. The Police work 8 hour shifts, and the current situation where huge numbers of police are needed at 11:30 and very few earlier or later on in the night isn't efficient.
Im a bit of a N.I.M.B.Y. on this one.
That is to say that as long as im not disturbed by pissed up knob heads at 3 o clock in the morning, then i dont really care.
However, we might find that munches can be allowed to go on later, and i would like that.
I suppose its all down to how it affects us all on a personal level at the end of the day.
Time will tell!!
It will be good if we can dispense with the binge drinking culture and go over to a continental style. I think if people are constantly making such a big thing of drinking it tends to glamourise it and encourage people to do binge drinking to shock and to look 'cool'. At least with the weather we are having at the moment it might allow a phasing in of it all. The real test will be next year in the summertime.
Its good for me, in fact I'm off now to take advantage of the extended hours to watch LFC stuff City!
I don't really understand what the rules are now, can a landlord just decide what time he wants to shut, and that's it?
I went to a pub on Friday night and, on exiting, asked the bouncywoman what time they were closing, I didn't fully understand her answer, but I think it was;
"It depends how busy we are, but two o'clock if there's not enough people in."

Exactly... I'm a libertarian, so I believe we should have as few laws as possible. It's a great pity that the current revisions didn't go further and remove the ridiculous ban on dancing in pubs. Can there be any real resason for this law apart from 'thou shalt not have fun'?

along with the dancing in pubs, there should be an easier way for bands to play in them without the stupid applications for entertainment laws. When the flavour of the month was boy bands there was no need. with the emergance of proper bands coming back, it was the pub circuit that let them get a break!.............although it easier to get you music out there through the net.........there nohing quite like watching live music, cheeply with an atmosphere...
on this thread has anyone tried mister kyps in poole? heard it was good... must go(tells me self)
