I think I am beginning to learn that this is the place to be.

Off course, where else is there that contains so many loons :silly:
Forum.
Run ads before and got hundreds of replies.................mostly from morons who hadn't read the ad properly, or were just after pics, or were total timewasters who didn't show.
At least the people posting on the forum have never let me down yet biggrin

Forums now seem so incestuous, everyone you talk to on here has "done " someone else you you know, its too insular.

I haven't !

Definately the forum for us but with 1 exception, a brilliant couple we met through the ads.
We like to get a "feel" for people through what they post. That way you get to kinda know them before actually meeting in person.

I guess it depends what you're looking for.
I would rather get to know someone's personality a bit, rather than leaping straight in.
A munch has got to be the best bet - looking forward to my first one soon and can't wait to pout faces to names.
I am going to post an Ad soon, I presume that's a bit more "hit and miss" as you won't know the person at all. I would still exchange a few emails first before meeting.
Hmmm, let's see
Meets arranged through forum = 2
Meets arranged through forum where people turned up = 2
Meets arranged through photoads = 2
Meets arranged through photoadswhere people turned up = 0 (they did cancel by email though, not just failed to show)
Meeting number 3 through ads is now arranged (because I am an optimist!) but who knows what will happen! lol
The potential downside of forum meets though is here

The benefit of ads is discretion, hopefully it's not the norm but I don't love the idea of people discussing who they've done outside of those involved confused
But surely the reason to contribute to the forums is because you enjoy the forum, not because you're hoping to pick someone up?
Mark.

Yes of course it is, but having said that, we are all probably here for similar reasons and if we get to know someone we like the sound of on the forum, then that's often a good way to introduce yourself to someone. :rose:

No reason why it can't be either or both though biggrin

Although I did find my first meet from the ads section (his reply to my ad!) and it was a good meet, I now stick to the forums. Its easier to get to know a little about people on here first before you meet them and in some way makes you feel a bit safer.
Therefore forums from now on!

Forum. Although I do have an add as not everyone uses the forum, and it allows me to show my personality in one place rather than spread throughout the Cafe. Hedging my bets here lol

I know their are some who openly discuss this but I don't think it's widespread. I suppose you just have to be careful in who you chose. biggrin
