So is London. But hey, L&LL...

Its also full of Ausies doing their rights of passage by working behind the bars for a couple of years and living 4 to a 1 bedroom flat before going back lol
My most romantic city is Berlin - wander through the Lust Gardens, snog under the glowing light of the Dom and sit in the French square. Oh, and lots and lots of places to eat, drink and talk.
Always always Berlin.
lol

Well, I am sure there are many of you out there who have their own idea of what the romantic City in the World is. Perhaps it is not the City but the person you are with.
Me..? I have just spent some very restful days in Paris in a sublime hotel overlooking the Montmartre cemetery, with the searchlights of the Eiffel tower shining straight into the room.
Champagne.
Strolling along the fountain sides of the Trocadero at midnight with the floodlights illuminating the Palais de Chaillot. A whole day spent in the Musee d'Orsay surrounded by magnificent sculpture, incredible art and fantastic Art Nouveau room settings and furniture.
An evening on the Seine travelling below bridge after bridge after bridge past Notre Dame and back to the spectacular Eiffel Tower, with a superb meal to follow in an excellent boulevard restaurant / bistro.
A night in the Moulin Rouge, with Champagne again (what else?) and...
Sigh!
Fuck I haven't felt like this since the last time I was in love.
Romantic City? Certainly felt like the most romantic City to me, but then the person I was with was...Incredible.
Anyone else found Paris has / had this effect on them?

We called in Paris on our way back from Benidorm by coach and the hotel we were taken to was atrocious, a top room, cramped, couldn't open a window, room service non existent, price of drinks exorbitant, in a dirty industrial area, traffic noise all night, couldn't sleep, "Romantic" ? a big fat zero, never again, Thanks but no thanks!!!
Been to Paris and like it, but also been to Barcelona and i think its a much more romantic city....
biggrin :D
I will have to say I truly enjoyed Paris when I was there. Kissed in front of the Hotel De Ville. Watched the sun set while on the Eiffel Tower. Danced in the streets. I will go back and do it all again.
BUT
(Yes there always is a but)
For me, Venice holds my heart. I go there as often as possible. To ride on the water, letting the wind blow my hair. Sit on the water and sip wine watching the sun set and the lights twinkle on. To gaze at the Bridge of Sighs and feel the anguish screams, not knowing if it is from old times or my heart. To sit in San Marco and listen to the music and watch the birds flying free. To stop in the middle of a street and Passionately Kiss.

You, with that look in your eyes
Who do you think about
As you fantasize?
Oh, how I need your caress
Anything you want
The answer is yes
Lose yourself in me - The beloved

Yes Venice will NEVER be the same for me again................
eerily quiet
water lapping
the hub and bubble of people
yet the only sounds that are heard
is the quickness of your breath
and the beating of my heart

Florence.
It's like Paris, but without the stench of human excrement, the interminable noise, the awful people, the boring architecture, the pollution, the traffic, the Germans, and all the other things I hate about Paris. biggrin

I don't thimk so. Paris is a Beautiful city and dear to my heart for romantic reasons. :)
Ian and I went without the kids a couple of years ago. We spent most of the time in bed shagging and hardly saw any sights. Might just as well have gone down the south coast or something rolleyes
Having said that, I have been to Paris half a dozen times and we did the touristy bits with the kids last summer so I am well aware of what it all looks like biggrin
