Although there isn't enough info in your post to diagnose your problems accurately, I can tell you this - you will definitely need your username and password. The only way I know of to find out BOTH of these is to contact your Internet Service Provider. Sorry - it will probably mean a long phone call since the average ISPs' customer service is very poor. Better off emailing them or using "Live Support" if they have it.
One alternative is if you can look on your old computer you should be able to find out the username, and then using that you might be able to request your password from your ISP, provided you can get on the internet using another PC.
Hope this helps.

As swing_fun_cpl says, more info needed and I'm sure suggestions will flow.
You managed to post here so you must have another way of using your Internet Service Providings (couldn't resist).
Also this is quite a busy place so need to post the same thing in different areas smile

fry - next time you want support from Virgin Media, as a customer you need only ring 150 and you'll have FREE access to their support line.

Give me a D Give me a O Give me a H Give me a ..um ..one of those line things with a dot< what have you got?
DOH!
Hey it's not your fault. Virgin Media used to be NTL and before that ComTel, and since I've been a customer since the ComTel, when the service was better, I got to know such things.
I've also noticed that the service has got worse since Virgin Media. When it was NTL my broadband connection was fast and consistent. Now under Virgin Media it's noticable slower and I tend to lose the downlink and have to reboot more often.

Virgin Media no longer provide this service free - as the OP pointed out, from July 1st a 10p connection charge and 25ppm call charge apply. mad
Proves my point thatthe service has got worse since Virgin Media took over.
