how do you women handle that time of the month, come to think of it how do you men handle that time of the month,(for those with partners)..mrs c was doubled up with period pain last night and i felt totally useless, banghead tried the passionkiss but that was about all i could offer  ,she's not a complete bitch when periods strike, she's just her normal self(have had relationships in the past where i just felt like moving out for the week).
what do you women do when you have period pain, what do you take is it just a couple of paracetomol or a herbal remedy or do you's take nothing because you's have no pain. how do your loved ones take it or do the kids just move to grans or barricade themselves in the bedroom and stay the hell away from you.....
Thank god for the depo injection - none of that monthly fuss. biggrin
Nurofen and paracetamol plus a lot of moaning for 24 hours. Thankfully the painful part doesn't last the full week.
I hate periods. Annoyingly, I am always really turned on - am sure they make me even more naughty than normal. I am lucky and only have a few a year.
As for handling them, there are still plenty of other things to do.

None what-so-ever. But that is just me, I know it doesn't suit some people and I know a few ladies who complained as their periods didn't stop.
The main side-effect the doctor pointed out to me was "Your periods will probably stop" I replied "And the problem with that is?" dunno
Best person to ask is your GP or a family planning advisor.
havent had one since the doc changed me to the mini pill last december cos of high blood pressure.
no mood swings, no pain and no periods its fantastic.
saying that i never really got pain when i did have them but was a right cow for a week
Earthy xx
I don't get mood swings ... I try to be consistent with my bitchiness wink
The only pain I get is lower back pain which probably also explains why my contractions were all in my back. Ouch !! Usually a Tylenol helps with that.
I do find that I get much hornier during my period too.
i usually say ....
"piss off and leave me alone" and then go to bed with my bed buddy for several hours.
dee
{bed buddy = a cute bunny filled with lavender that gets warmed in a microwave NOT to be mistaken for a f**k buddy lol }

Unfortunately I did have the side effects. Decided after 6 mths of the Depot, after a 9 week period mad (although very light) and having my sex drive pretty much obliterated, that it wasn't for me.
Trouble is, now on the mini pill (which I keep bluddy forgetting :x ), and I haven't had another period since I stopped the Depot in February - So I don't know whether the Depot done a 9 week grand finalé before stopping it completely, or what :dunno:
Apart from that, there were no lasting effects once I stopped the Depot - so might be worth giving it a try and if it's not for you, just stop having it? You could be one of the many many lucky ones that are absolutely fine on it. But you might be unlucky, in which case, just don't stay on it.
I'm not normally a reacty allergicy type person, so I would say that the side effects thing is pot luck rather than more likely if you're prone to reactions etc confused
wink
How do I cope?
Well I can't take Nurofen or anything like that so it's paracetamol (and sex when I'm over over the first day.) lol
Being in an F/F relationship, PMT can make for an interesting time.

...Bottom line is New Years Eve is nearly here and I do NOT want to be sitting home getting all maudlin about the fact that I am here and single. Yes, I love being single but it does get a little hard around the holidays.

Abilene - go for it!
Wish it was me - I shall instead be sitting in front of the TV slightly bored...

 Oh - forget what I said then - I would rather watch TV.

I have read somewhere that groups of women who spend a long time together (in a commune, or in a doctors waiting room biggrin ) develop a sort of synchronisation in regards to menstruation (which probably explains why the commune toilets are always engaged and so are the ones at the surgery :D ).
I'm not sure if that is correct, but I am genuinely interested to know if there is any truth in it. Sadly, menstruation is not something which is discussed in the forum often and so I think that as this opportunity has arisen and if anyone out there would care to explain I would be only too pleased to hear about it. I am certain that there are others out there too who would find it interesting.
In my mind it leads onto so many other questions like is that same synchronisation present in a predominantly female household (i.e. mother and two, three or more daughters)? In a F/F relationship is there a marked movement for both partners towards some kind of synchronisation, and would it develop the longer the relationship existed?
I'm sure there are other questions that lead on from these too but that might be enough for the moment.
Maybe I am giving too much info here so be warned not to read further if you are offended by details of the menstrual cycle. lol
Yes women do get in sync. It is remarkable and I have no idea how it happens.
One day I started bleeding two weeks before I should and obviously I was worried. It turned oud that a female friend who was sharing a house with was messing around with her contraceptive pill and her stopping her tabletst had made my body very confused!!
Also when I lived with my parents I had a girlfriend who used to stay over most nights. We all got into sync so my poor dad had to put up with me, my mum, my sister and my girlfriend being on our period all at the same time!!
It would probably be easier if Mrs Kiss and I were in sync due to the PMT but since she had Chemo her periods are all over the place. So we sometimes get PMT in this house for 2 weeks in every 4!

I have suffered with Endometriosis for years, which nothing but feotal position relieved slightly .... My wonder thing at the moment is the Marina coil - which is also used as a hormonal birth control as it releases the hormones (like a mni pill) daily, in very small doses in the right area (which pills did not agree with me). Most women stop having periods, sadly i am not one of them, but it is lighter and not for as long.
I still have bouts, but overall i have found it wonderful and know quite a few women that use this method for periods and pmt etc ... all say it has been life-changing to their symptoms.

My heart goes out to you Juniper, I too have suffered for years with that thankfully a bout of lasering has put pay to it.. for now rolleyes
AAw poor Mrs Cream, I feel sorry for her I've was exactly the same on Monday. I sent Jay packing to the pub, had a wonderfully warm bath, hot water bottle, two paracet. and curled up on settee. I think the general consensus is the same...
Unfortunately, no amount of TLC can help us BUT I have to say I think its great you are such a caring hubby esp. to ask others for advice. smile
Hi all!! Thank you all for sharing all your experiences and knowledge. Keep them coming! lol. I suppose to 'evaluate the situation' lol is that we are all unique and diffrent things work for some and not for others, hence the reason why there are many different forms of contraception etc. However, it was interesting to hear peoples' experiences.
I was like  when Mr cream put this thread up. He did mention it in bed lastnight but when I saw he did and saw the response I was like :inlove: :rose: The depo injection did interest me when my friend said she goes on it when she goes on holiday so her periods stop but she says she puts on weight? dunno She might get an increase in appetite with it?
I've never heard about that synchronising thing and that was interesting to read about too. Thinking about it now, when I was living at home, whenever I was on my period, the bin next to the toilet did seem to get mysteriously full confused
Thanx again all!!
Mrs Cream xxx
the synchronising thing is true, all the girls in my department are all on at the same time, its like put a big sign up saying 'do not start with me you will not win'
Earthy xx
Sycronised PMT :scared: Now thats fookin Scary!!!!!
Thats from this mans point of view!!
I've been having the depo injection for over four years now, and haven't had a period in all that time :bounce: :bounce:
I haven't suffered any side effects at all, although I did put a bit of weight on. Although, as I weighed less than 6 and a half stone at the time, that wasn't a disaster biggrin
..
its true I once worked in a warehouse and all the women on my shift ended up on periods at the same time, I know its weird rolleyes but true
As for the depo injection I was on this for 2 years and never had a period but I still got the side affects, cramps, swollen boobs and moods and I aslo put on quite a bit of weight too, and the funny thind was that after 2 years my main reason for coming of it was it didnt seem normal to not have a period and I was a bit worried about what it might be doing to my body,
I'm a fan of depo too - have no side effects, but worth mentioning the last time I gave myself a break from it, it was 9 months before I had a period  - but the hell of the pmt and near-miss attempted murder charges were enough to go straight back on it agian lol
Yay for Depo!

Yes, I am one of three sisters and my dad used to have an awful week every month - four females in one house having periods is NOT good!

how the hell did he manage FB,or did he just lock himself away in the shed......only plus side you all got it over at the same time could of been 1 a week
I wear a magnet over my ovary area (clipped to my clothing)and it stops the pain. I wear it a few days before I`m due and during the time I`m on and I dont end up having to take painkillers. Dunno how it works but it definitely does cos if I dont wear it I`m scoffing painkillers like smarties!
