I think they should transfer him to Colchester Military Prison for a short stay. I don't think he would come out of there except in a box.

The news today, say he is fit to be considered for release.
He is cured(?) as long as he keeps taking his medication.
Should he be allowed to come out and mix with all us folk again?
I remember well, all the talks my parents gave to us girls about not going any where alone ever, as a result of this mans stalking and killing ladies in this area.
Would we be safe??

another mockery of the judicial system . he was given 20 life sentences. thats more then myra hyndley thats more then the krays thats more then biggs but will u agree to them being freed. lets not forget the police alone said sutcliff was a clever man. is he cured it will be to late to find out when the next girl gets murdered catagorically no 20 life sentences doesnt add up to 30 years the man should die in prison.

Well I thought nothing would suprise me,but this certainly has.
If you ask anyone who they think is the most prolific KILLER they have heard of, I bet most would say the Yorkshire Ripper.

is it not Harold Shipman now dunno
I thought it was George W. Bush
I would have said God

Lets just be absolutely clear what's been suggested. Noone, apart from Peter Sutcliffe's lawyer, is seriously suggesting that Peter Sutcliffe should one day be released. All that's being discussed is whether he's safe to be moved into the general prison population, presumably because Broadmoor can do no more with him, and it's a waste of time and taxpayers money to keep him there.

Just thought this post was worth repeating ;)
No chance. Leave him where he is. Why should we have to live knowing that there is a known multiple murderer roaming free.
Apparently, he was seen in the town where I live,he disappeared before the cafe owner could ring the police! I shudder at the thought of having to live in fear again.
OK, so we're talking about a guy who's in his 60's, overweight, suffers from diabetes and is blind in one eye and partially sighted in the other due to repeated attacks that have targeted his face.
As an aside, from what I have read people who commit crimes while suffering from a mental health problem are usually very chaotic and therefore very easy to find and stop.
If he was suffering from a mental health problem while committing these crimes, which he may have been, it wasn't acute enough for him to pop up on the police/social services/family's radar. Strange that. confused :?
Plus it was probably nice grounds for appeal for his legal team.
However I am also aware that criminals who are clever (which this guy is supposed to be) will utilise mental health issues to avoid courts and while inside, to avoid general population, work etc.
So does he warrant moving into a prison, I've not met him and I'm not likely to, so I couldn't say. While a lot of people, tabloid press included, like to make a scape-goat of the professionals that are charged with caring for him, they are all experienced people who didn't get into their positions by winning a raffle.
If they feel that he is ready to be downgraded and they state that, then they are also staking their careers on that and will not make that judgement lightly.
Should he be released? I'd say no, but because I don't feel that it would be fair to punish a person who is mentally unwell, therefore if he was well enough to evade capture or detection and he became unwell while in prison his sentence should continue from the day he returns to general population.
He who lives by the sword should die by the sword. :smug:
