When on a bus, train or any forum of public transport are the sort of person that will talk to the person next to you or to you sit there with your music player in your ears and blank everyone till you get off?
I tend to sit there with music playing but I'm the sort that of person that has the local idiot come sat next to me lol
I expect this to vary with which part of the UK you're in. If I'm on a long journey on a train or more likely a coach then I would strike up conversation, depending on who the person was of course! In London you wouldn't even blink...
So true Darkside.. when I go back oop north, everyone talks to you and if you smile, they smile back.. In Oxford where I am now, depends on which part of Oxford.. the estates are ok.. but town.. no way!
Me and my other half go to London every Wednesday so totally understand what you mean!

local idiot rotflmao :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
I'll smile, but won't strike up conversation.
I'm the type that only speaks when spoken to (on public transport of course not real life, as people often have a hard job shutting me up!!)

If you have an empty seat next to you - make eye contact with anyone walking up the aisle, give them a big smile and pat the seat next to you. Keeps it free every time smile
rotflmao :laughabove:
I know someone who used to pour a little of thier soft drink on the seat next to to make it look as though it had been pee'd on :lol2: worked the same.
W**** was a bad bad man! :lol2:

With have to try that dark_side72 and lost lol
well as fr me in the type of person who sit there with music player on and people wathcing at the same time..
I prefer to keep myself to myself... not that I travel much by public transport these days but if I do I want to appreciate and enjoy my 'quiet time' without someone bleeting on about owt or nowt to pass the time of day.
iPod on maximum volume and no eye contact here. I managed it for a full 16 hour flight once... until the batteries gave out then it was keep the silent headset on to drown out the noise of the plane, and the possibility of conversation.
the last time i went on public transport i sat down only to be greeted by the overwhelming smell of cat pee coming off a lady with two cats in a travel box :fuckinghell: if it hadn't have been raining i would have got off. but saying that i am the type who will speak if spoken too and i always seem to attract the local loony :silly: dunno i must have an aura about me
The local loony being Mr Wade

heres a tip, if your on a crowded train / bus whatever, and you would like to keep the seat next to you empty, everytime someone see's it, just tap the seat with the palm of your hand and smile at them! Never fails to keep em away!
What's public transport ?
if you use public transport, why should you object to someone sitting next to you ?if it`s a problem for you take the car or a `re really not that special if that`s the way you think of fellow travellers.
I once had an orgasm on a double decker bus... now that's public transport for ya! lol.... tight jeans, bumps mmmm wink
If I am alone I may talk to someone, if I have nothing else to do.
Once, last year? We did have something to do, we never talked much!
It depends on my mood!. I don`t very often get on public transport these day but when i do, if im in a good, happy mood i`ll chat with anyone if not I just keep myself to myself.
i use public transport a fair bit these days...
its i-pod all the way for me too. Sometimes a pair of very dark (one way) shades.

gosh, I do that... I thought that I was being helpful. I just thought that people saw a better option further down the train. confused It does keep the seat free though. :)
I only seem to use public transport for longer journeys. I have a sneaky suspicion I am the village idiot as I seem to strike up conversation without even trying. I've even managed to get a whole tube section chatting. I didn't want to get off at my stop biggrin
Having come from the north and half irish by ancestry chatting is second nature - oh and I did kiss that stone thingy in the 'castle'.
I was pleasantly surprised recently when taking a bus and three trains to get to Norwich just how many people spoke to me first or responded when I spoke to them. Of course it was not the saaf-eest was it?
Perhaps public transport is a great leveller and doesn't contain people who need to be in a car for egotistical or coccooning reasons?
No doubt we will all be going back to public transport as our oil continues to run out? That would negate my trip to Norwich, which was to buy a car! Must go to the 'sexual things to do list' thread as sex in the back seat of a car is something I have missed out on for some unknown reason!
