"Genuine" people. Where are they?

One of the best ways to find out if anyone is "genuine", and I wish I had followed my own advice, is to talk to anyone you are intrrested in, get to know them, in more than just a couple of flirty e-mails, find out if what you are looking for is the same as they do.
then find out where they live, follow them about for a couple of months, intercept their mail, rummage through their bins, and if at all possible interview their ex-lovers to see if they are going to live up to your "genuine" standards

This brings us back to Swindoncouple's original query - How "genuine" are these people? This asked the forum viewers whether they thought the people who place ads are genuine. Telling people to join in the forums does not answer this question and, if they have limited access to the internet, is not particularly helpful.

The title of their post was, "Genuine" people. Where are they? . From what I read of their post I think it's safe to say that they already think they know the answer to How "genuine" are these people? - i.e. in their experience, not very smile

So, they come on the forum asking where all the "Genuine" people really are. "HERE!", the forum replies.
Shame on us.
But let's say we were wrong... what is your advice to them? I've just had a quick look and I can't see where you've answered their question (whichever question you've decided to choose).

I didn't choose to answer their question. I don't know where the "genuine" people are on the internet. I know some people are real because I've met them and that others must be real by association. As to the "genuineness" of people I don't know well, I really don't know ie are they who they say they are, do they do what they say they do?
I wouldn't offer advice to someone asking about ads because we don't use them at all and therefore have no experience to offer advice from.
My opinion would be that using ads to meet would be a very hit and miss affair, that might give a result sooner or later depending on your luck. My opinion, with no facts at all to back it - just a hunch - would be that due to the very high numbers of registered people on the ads system (nearly 130,000), there will be a large number of people who are not who they say they are, or do not do what they say they do.
If I was asked the best route to take when looking for a meet I would undoubtedly recommend going to clubs as a good route to meeting "genuine" people.

From someone who gets an occassional reply from any direction, I would (almost welcome) hundreds of responses. I do appreciate however that getting a high percentage of non genuine replies could make that somewhat disheartening.
Seems to be a lot of it around, even I've had them (doubly annoying for me, as I get so few in the first place!). Still I persevere because when things do come together I've enjoyed everyone. In the fullness of time the best bits will be remembered and the others will be lost in the mists of time.
Of course you've now potentially created a rod for your own back - so many more people contacting you now one suspects!
Unfortunately its life, the bottom line is we have to put up with the souls who play silly games, we cannot do anything about their inadequacies.

WHat can I say we havent met anybody yet but I think thats just down to curcumstance!! As far as Im concerned this site offers muchmore than the likes of aff in terms of meeting people.
They just cencor everything and make it hard and the prices are extortianite thank fuck I never paid for anything on that!!
Far as Im concerned this has been the best site Ive found to date!!

you are right... there are lot more people to choose from.... but then can i ask you another question......
why are you trying the hit and miss from the ads.... rather then coming in here or the chatrooms and getting to know people..... i find this works a lot better then just looking at the ads alone......
to be honest... what do we know about you so far????? looking trhu the posts and you haven't said anything about you so far.......

Guys - I was felt very much the same when I joined. Trust me when I say that discretion was the number one word on my lips when I joined the forum!! But also trust me when I say that the people I have met in the forum (can't speak for the chatroom 'cos I don't go in there) are really sincere when it comes to discretion. Personally (and this is honestly just a personal view - not that of any "clique" rolleyes

) I feel more comfortable in the forum because I know I can be assured of discretion in here.
I don't know if that makes any sense - but I do know where you are coming from - and trust me - so do many others on here! kiss
