Dearest Members,
As a massive fan since early childhood of DC Comics especially the character, Batman, I decided to go & see if the hype surrounding the latest film ‘The Dark Knight’ was correct?
Well without giving anything away & in a ‘nutshell’ the film is a Masterpiece of Cinema.
The characters all behave as they do within the Comics / Graphic Novels yet is on par in my opinion with films that deal with the theme being:
Real psychological affect of crime along with conflict or warfare on the individual.
Example of such films being:
Apocalypse Now.
Heat.
Platoon.
The Godfather Part 2.
The King of New York.
Scarface (1932 version).
Little Caesar.
The French Connection.
Leon.
Dead Man’s Shoes.
Get Carter.
The Long Good Friday.
…..amongst others.
As some of you might know that is a serious list of Classic Cinema & recommend all of these movies if you’ve never watched them before.
Now what am attempting to put across is that a motion picture based on a comic is the best I’ve seen in 8 years…!! The realism is amazing due to the direction helped with the characterization & dialogue.
I would not be surprised if this film wins ‘Best Picture’ & ‘Best Director’ at The Oscars, it’s THAT good.
If you haven’t seen it yet or due to this recommendation want to please do one thing.
Enjoy all the performances not just one or two characters. All the actors bring their ‘A – Game’ to this Motion Picture
.
It’s that good I might go see it again & I’ve never even thought of doing that before with a flim I've went & watched at the Cinema.
Enjoy & if you have watched it or do so, I look forward to your review(s) / replies.
It makes them comics that I read as a child & even today more real, amazing.
Ohhh....the offical Website:

Just been to see it. Yes a very good film. May need to watch it a couple of times .........
Twice..already
Planning on 3rd time next week!!
Awesome film.
Please let this be the last one so it can go out on a high note!
Saw it at in the imax ... absolutely fantastic, very dark in tone and my god, the ending ...
The Joker's explanation to the gangster of how he got the scars ... intense!
I'd love to see this film but on a tight budget at the moment. Do you think it has to be seen on the big screen to be appreciated?
I've always had a liking for the dark side of the Dark Knight.. this has been explored to some degree in the graphicnovels, so I understand.
as for this film... if nothing else, that paoter above is simply fantastic!!!!
lp
'poster', even

I think it would certainly add to the experience, just films like this almost demand they be seen on the big screen. I think this is going to be THE blockbuster of the summer.
However, I think you'll still love it on the tv screen but hope you needn't wait till then.
Anyone want to take me on Orange Wednesday i've got an orange phone lol. Worcestershire area x hehe

Dearest venus68,
Look forward to your review, if you have seen it.
Others that have what did you think?

Just come back from seeing it and I have to agree - 1st viewing and I think it was fantastic - the performances by ALL the leads were amazing but Heath did steal the show - after watching is film career from 10 things I hate about you, through to Brokeback Mountain - this performance is mesmerizing - so dark!
All hail Christopher Nolan for not only re-awakening the Batman films but breathing a brilliant mix of his dark vision and comic book integrity back into them
lol
I was gonna be all cultured and go to an exhibition on Friday... sod it, I may just go to the pictures instead! lol
I've seen it, and it is simply awesome in everyway.
I love my comic books and batman is probably one of my all time favorites , this was loads better than batman:begins which i only thought was ok to be honest.
There has been some great comic book films out this year i loved iron-man, and hellboy 2 but this is alot better in my opinion and thats not taking anything away from them 2 films.
Its a must see. and i just loved that pencil trick he did.
Amazing!!!
I saw it tonight and loved it! The hype about Heath Ladger's outstanding acting is certainly not unfounded...he was amazing! Sort of reminded me a bit of Jack Nicholson and Beetlejuice's love child but that's not a bad thing. Lots of big stars in it, good story, lots for the action fans.
Thumbs up from me
Dearest Members,
If you are doing nothing over the weekend then
I would go the Cinema & watch this.
Amazing.

Saw The Dark Knight yesterday. Came out of the cinema thinking not a lot more than it was a bit overlong, but Heath Ledger is AWESOME!!! And my ears were bleeding as it was so fooking loud.....
But thinking about it since, Heath Ledger was more than awesome, it is a bit overlong, but it really is a fantastic film. It felt like I'd been hit by a wall of tension and excitement and I think I felt a bit stunned. Venus, if you can go and see it at the cinema, I would as I think you'll lose quite a bit of the power of the film on DVD....
One possible word of warning: Its a 12A rating. If you've got kids, I'd think carefully about taking them is it is quite brutal. There's been a bit in the papers about it being rated too low. The NY Times says dont take your kids....
I'd go and see it again though, when my ears have healed!!!

We saw the film last night and have to say the sound affects were brill. Had I waited and watched it at home the sound would have been nothing like the cinema.
It is not a film I would usually go and see and mrs777 would never want to see but...after reading the reviews thought we would go. I found it a brill film and mrs777 enjoyed the first hour and a half, but thought it was a bit long.
The special effects were fantastic and the jokers performance was purely first class, nasty in a joker kind of way. lol So sad the guy is now dead as he for sure will win an oscar for the performance.
A must see film, how far cinema and its effects have come over the years. If you can go and see it Venus then it is worth the money spent.
Off to see it tonight on an Imax screen, so I hope all you folks who liked it are right. I'd hate to sit holding in my bladder for 152 mins if it's naff smile

Would like to know, please.

Don't bribe a till attendant in a busy cineplex to get them to give you a refunded ticket to see a show in a full IMAX cinema. You get to sit on the very first row and spend 152 minutes looking vertically straight up, having to take your glasses off because the curvature of the screen seems to exactly match that of one's astigmatism and looking at a Joker's face that seems to have the same dimension as the side of a double-decker bus.
I really couldn't make out much of what happened in the action sequences, but the story was great, if, as already mentioned, it was a little over-long and the scriptwriter wasn't totally sure where the film's climax should be. The sound in an IMAX cinema is, as ever, stupendous. When Bruce was testing the bullet hits into concrete you could feel your lungs rattle with the bass, fucking brilliant!
TBH though, I'd have to see it again in a normal cinema or on DVD, but I really don't think I'd be bored watching it again. And yes I did enjoy Ledger's deliciously quirky delivery as the Joker. Though Batman's faux gruff voice started grating after a bit.
Many thanks, Peanut.
Great review & the same thing happend to me when I went to Manchester IMAX to watch the 2nd Matrix flim.
IMAX is the best & if I had the funds I would go back to that cinema & see 'The Dark Knight' in it's full vision.
Am going to see it for the second time on Thursday in a normal cinema but what a Movie.

I went to see this last night. What can I say....
Some years ago I made a promise that I would never ever go and see a film based on a comic book again ( after all most if not all of them are rubbish) but I weakened and saw the Dark Knight
It was a pile of s**t.
It was long
It was boring
I really didn't care who lived or who died
It didn't make sense
Honestly this is a dire Summer offering from a cynical film industry.
Heath Ledger is good but he has a nice showy part. The rest so very poor.
I've just gone to the cinema & watched it for a 2nd time.
Really enjoyed it as I knew what was going to happen so I got diffrent perspectives, these being:
1. Appreciated the mad genius of The Joker. How he plays everyone & the planning behind his various incidents.
2. The magnificent performances of all the actors involved especially Gary Oldham & the best performance I've ever seen in a flim by Heath Ledger.
3. Underlining theme in the flim & withinthis period of history, that we are living in being about control. How far should governments & the people that work for them use technology to control the popualtion confused:
Remember it's an underlining theme NOT easy accessible.
4. The entire film is on par with Micheal Mann's - 'Heat'. A personal favourite of mine.
5. The grandeur of this flim in the manner that it has been made means you need to view it on the Big Screen. Even if you own a large Plamsa Screen TV with a Blu-Ray DVD Player you will miss the beauty of this flim.... :!:
It was truly made for Cinema.
So if you haven't yet seen this amazing flim & have nothing going on over this August Bank. You should check this flim out.

bbw_lover and I went to see this last night - what an awesome film! biggrin The last film I saw at the cinema was in 1996 - this was so much different. We went the whole hog and had super deluxe seating - popcorn.. the whole nine yards. But the film.. WOW! The acting was superb - and the special effects were brilliant.. I especially liked the burn victims prosthetics...
I would seriously recommend this film... might have to go and see it again!
Personally, I LOVE long films when they're as good as this ... and oh my, I think I've got something to go on for my halloween outfit re. Joker's disguise cool

It's the only flim that I've seen at the cinema & I knew that I had to view it again.
I try to go to the cinema at least 4 - 6 times per year & that's for flims that I really want to watch.
Without going into it as not to spoil it for others.
If you watch it again Misskitty_2008, enjoy the whole:
"I want my Phonecall" scene.
You get a diffrent angle on it the second time, knowing how his brain thinks.
Wonderful & if you haven't yet seen it.
What are you doing.... confused:

Dear Members,
Just found a really good video review of the flim that was on BBC 2 'Newsnight Review' that was broadcast in July.
Normally the panel on 'Newsnight Review' are quite cutting when dealing with major blockbuster movies.
Yet the panel enjoyed the flim.
Again after watching this review make sure to go to your local cinema, as it can't be on forever....
Enjoy:
