just adding my 2 pence worth since i am just coming out of the other side of what it sound like you are going thru....
everyone else seeming from what i have read is giving you sound advice.... the worst thing you can do is bury your head in the sand so to speak... the only other piece of advice that i would be tempted to give you is go to the citizens advice bureau.... they were absolutly brilliant in my case... and if you have been to them as well i know that banks and debt collecters look at that favourably.....
we all know that you are lovely... and i am a great believer in that good things weill happen to good people....
keep smiling and really looking forward to seeing you make the great trek north for our munch in october.......

You have had some excellent advice Helen , until they get a judgement they can do nothing , and then if you have made an offer to pay at a rate that is reasonable in the view of the court considering your cirumstances , they will have to live with it .This is why writing to them offering to pay slowly is so effective , it shoots their fox before they start .
