I thought I'd write down a few classic clichés quoted in relationships... and wondered if folks would like to add their own interpretation of what each REALLY means:
1) It's not you, it's me
2) I just need a little space
3) You're like a brother / sister to me
4) You're such a good friend
5) We just grew apart
6) We've taken it as far as it can go
7) Looking to add a little spice to things
8) She/he is my best friend
9) We're soulmates
10) It's what's inside that counts
Some can be funny, some deep.... I will add my own interpretations later (but they will invariably be sarcastic / tongue in cheek)
It's not me it's you.
Does you stomach always come first?
Were you talking to me?
It is rude to make a lady wait.
I am to tired today someone kept me up.
Apologies for my butchering of the post, but I am not clever enough to work out the multi-quote thingy magubbins.
1) It's not you, it's me
-I want to fuck someone else to see if they are better/richer/kinkier than you.
2) I just need a little space
Frankly, you are boring me to tears. I've had better sex with a pencil and more intellectual stimulation from the back of a cereal packet. Go away and develop a personality.
3) You're like a brother / sister to me
I don't like you as much as you like me and while I tolerate you whilst you are about, there is absolutely no chance I'd ever sleep with you let alone anything more.
4) You're such a good friend
See above.
5) We just grew apart
At the start, you were horny and kinky. Now you've become boring and to be honest, I think I'd find sex with Keith Chegwin more stimulating.
6) We've taken it as far as it can go
I fancy someone else because when we go to bed it is about as exciting as being in the audience of "Countdown".
7) Looking to add a little spice to things
There's someone at work who is really suggestive and I'd rather take a chance with Chlamydia than be bored senseless in the bedroom with you.
8) She/he is my best friend
I'd fuck them, but that's it. Nothing more.
9) We're soulmates
I'm trying to say this kindly to you. No sodding chance. I'm your friend under duress and the chances of this developing any further are about as likely as me falling in love with a wasp or running naked through the streets of Baghdad with "Islam, it's all just bollox isn't it?" tattooed on my back.
10) It's what's inside that counts
You're ugly, but a nice person. Still ugly though.
1) It's not you, it's me - it's you
2) I just need a little space - away from you
3) You're like a brother / sister to me - I don't fancy you anymore
4) You're such a good friend - I don't fancy you anymore
5) We just grew apart - I don't fancy you anymore
6) We've taken it as far as it can go - I've learned all your sexual techniques now fuck off
7) Looking to add a little spice to things - I want to shag your best friend
8) She/he is my best friend - I don't fancy him/her anymore
9) We're soulmates - I want to keep you on a string just in case I want an NSA shag sometime
10) It's what's inside that counts - You're butt ugly
Oh God, relationships are hard enough without us making fun of them!
1) It's not you, it's me
it's me that that is sick of you
2) I just need a little space
your big arse is taking up too much room
3) You're like a brother / sister to me
we shared the same pussy once, after that they cut all ties
4) You're such a good friend
So much you'd understand my need to shag someone else
5) We just grew apart
you grew, and grew
6) We've taken it as far as it can go
and I don't fancy bringing it back
7) Looking to add a little spice to things
One last take out, for old time's sake?
8) She/he is my best friend
Keep paying your half of the mortgage please
9) We're soulmates
And the Sky subscription
10) It's what's inside that counts
and I'm staying inside this house, you can find your own place
Heard a few of the above now an then - always think they are get out clauses cos they can't deal with any potential conflict.
I used No1 recently and I meant what I said. It wasn't her, it was me. She was lovely and wonderful in every way. I was the one with the problem that i wasn't strong enough to resolve. These sayings aren't always cliches.
