Hi moist I have bookmarked some really different hols to go on around the world eg swimming with dolphins, walking in croatia, as looking to go on my first evr single hol in May so if you want sites happy to share them
Corrie biggrin
What's all this talk about Wales? It's a lovely place, I'm sure, but wasn't the point of this thread Moist's passport? (Which reminds me - is your passport photo as terrible as tradition demands, or did you get one that looks like you?)
For culture, just about any major city in Europe will do (I'd be inclined to avoid the excessively big ones like London and Paris, but that's because I don't like too many people). For history, just about any city in Europe. The Netherlands would be a good starting-point for the first-time traveller. Amsterdam has some decent museums, and most of the people speak English better than the English do. At this time of year the canals should be frozen. Cologne's cathedral will take your breath away. Make sure you climb to the top.
Get out and enjoy yourself. Once you're bitten, you'll never want to come back home.
no jags needed

Just some translation needed for the assorted Brits and overseas visitors amongst us - for the Scots word 'jags' read 'injections' - he didn't mean that you don't need me!!
lol biggrin :D

{Cue stampede of entire SH forum to bottom of said cliffs armed with nets, matteresses and big soft pillows}
While you're all loitering at the bottom of the cliffs, I think I'll head up to the top. If she wants to jump, she'll have to get out of my grasp first!

Artificer puts on 'Tony Blair' head and oozes sincerity, compassion and gooey stuff
Now Moist, nothing is as bad as it seems...you are loved by all here. In fact, you are precious to every member of this happy little ship. Step back from that ledge my dear; don't do anything you might regret. Remember, you might ease your own suffering but you would leave us, your true friends, to cope with the pain of your loss......
besides, you don't need to jump you daft beggar....just lean forwards and gravity does the rest!!!
LMFAO you lot of freaks...

Oh the memories....it was a tradition at my school to roast marshmallows over an open fire. Nothing unusual there you might think. Thing was, it was also traditional to put them in a small boy's pocket first!
Tom Brown had it easy!
Did we go to school together?
See my marshmallows were a good idea..yum yum. May have to buy some on way to work tonight...
When I was a small person, we used to get marshmallows after we had been to the dentist, especially after an extraction.....wouldn't happen today,
now Marshmallows come out in summer when I do some sweet kebabs on the

I had that last at a camping trip as a kid some 25 years ago and STILL remember it - what squishy, hand-burning, sticky sweet memories that brings back !
Lets arrange a camping trip complete with BBQ & have marshmallows & bananas & scrummy burgers...Oh such fun
OKAy then what about Newgale beach down in Pembrokeshire.... good campsite great beach surf if you wish.... I just love the area.... and if you really fancied dressing up for that special meal I know of a couple of great eateries........ God food is so erotic...

Gman,
Respect due on the location choice. I used to live nr St Davids and used to run the coast path down to Newgale & back in the early 90's - can u remember the name of the pub next to the garage ? Oh Nostalgia - also great for sea canoing at The Bitches and also cliff climbing (hire a wet suit though - ask in the surf shop next to the pub).
I shall back up this recommendation heartily.
Yos
lucky Sod Yoss, it has to be one of my most fave place in these sceptred isles.... if I ever get to retire to the seaside that is where I will go.... It is heaven.... ( sorry cannot recall the pub.... we have always stayed a little futher south at Nolton.) but spent many delightful early mornings walking the beach at Newgale and flying kites ..... the trouble of the world fade into insignificance...
and now back to the thread ... so an SH camping weekend.... is it feasible
Gmanxxx
.
Well if I recall correctly - there is a campsite abour 1-2Km from Newgale beach itself.
I can't think of a better place for a SH camping weekend - nearest supermarket is Tesco at Haverfordwest - OMG I sound like fruggin' Tourist Inf smile
Yoss there is a campsite across the road from the beach... it is ideal and there is a pub too...
what more could one want?
Gman
Yep you are right ! Just checked the old landranger map. Decent chippy @ Newgale and the Farmers Arms at St Davids - its all coming flooding back
I'm not familiar with South Wales, except Newport, most of my travelling being no further south than Aberystwyth or Devils Bridge. Any good craggy bits to clamber up and down, or is it mostly rolling hills/flat?
Wales is always a good place to visit, I have had some peculiar adventures and seen some odd sights there. biggrin
