Well to be honest i've found it more or less spot on when I travel to meet someone. Mind you I think it works on as the crow flies so if the route you take is pretty much straight it will be acurate but if you have to say do half a lap of the M60 it will be a tad differant biggrin
i've always found it to be ok, the thing is some people put the wrong post code in so people didn't know where they lived so when u ask where they are its not always the same as their post code wink
it`s handy as a guide......
but e - west london`s not as easy as driving 7 miles!!!!!!!
Does it matter??
If you don't like it - ignore it. It is a rough guide. confused :? :? :? :?

Does anyone else think that the mileage calculator which shows how far people are from your own location is a bit inaccurate to say the least..... :!:
I checked out a profile at a location to which I defintely know the mileage but SH's calculation was well out....by miles...literally

Miles out up here.. people in liverpool read as being 150 miles from me, think it would be nearer 230, think 80 miles is a good bit off being accurate at this end lol

Hell if they are willing to drive 150 miles i'm sure another 80 won't make much differance biggrin and i'm being sincere when I say i'm sure your both worth the journey smile
travelled 300 miles 2 years ago to meet a lady, not once but several times smile Needless to say the mileage wasn't an issue biggrin
Think the SH Calculator was actually designed for me as being a normal run of the mill woman when it comes to map reading i normally get lost and usually end up adding a good 20 miles to the journey!! Cant even follow instructions on multimap directions! Mr SBB was very upset that we were an hour late to meet a gorgeous lady due to us driving around Birmingham City Centre for an hour!! Whoops!! redface

Well NthGuy Ive checked my prolfile & it says I live 0 miles from me...
Im meeting myself 2moro nite
I'll check the distance on the mileometer & get back to you ok :giggle:
iwe think its great! we dont think it will spot on but gives u a great ruff idea of how far away people r
Mileage  ?
I thought it was an estimate of how lost I was. Let's face it, it doesn't take into account the 3 farm tracks, 2 missed motorway exits and shopping centre over there that I went up on the way.
But at least it makes you look twice when you find someone is "0-miles from you !" confused

When I fell in love with someone ( many years ago now) I thought nothing of doing the 120 mile round trip 3 or 4 times a week to see her and I did this for nearly 2 years. She was worth every mile and eventually became the mother of my two children and the relationship lasted for over 20 years. Love has no boundaries and covers many miles and many years.............. and sometimes many tears too.

U lovely blonde tranny kiss

I dread to think of the mileages I've done in the name of love.
I used to drive from Heford in W Germany over to Sheffield to see someone for the weekend
In my early twenties, I used to walk the six miles (just checked on autoroute) from Debden to Littlebury, then back to camp, daily; to see Mk I for a couple of hours.

lol it matters if you travel too meets!
although i don't travel unless to a munch or social!
but people (sometimes) travel too me .........i would not be happy with myself if i knackered them out driving miles before actually meet me .........i would be full of energy and raring too go :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: ...and the poor thing would need a sleep  .... a bad way too waste time!
time is pleasure time wink
it gives us an idea of the miles.....but if you chatted...PM...with someone who set your pants on fire .......MILES WOULDN'T MATTER! smile
Once again Judy you hit the nail quite squarely on the head. I believe that each postcode relates to approximately 6-12 houses, that's way too specific for my liking.
Also I'm very fussy about the people who I allow in to my life (yes a choosy single male!!) and won't even consider meeting anyone without speaking to them first for the reasons you have already stated but also I find it difficult to judge a person's character and if we'd get along from e-mails, way too easy to misinterpret and also easy to hide behind. Plus I do have a thing for voices, there's just something about certain accents/dialects that really does it for me. (I'd fancy every girl in Ireland as long as they kept talking!!)
