...it gives us an idea of the miles.....but if you chatted...PM...with someone who set your pants on fire .......MILES WOULDN'T MATTER!
Exactly wot maidenfair said...
...you know it makes sense!

I don’t think it maters at all whether the post code system / mileage calculator is accurate or not. A rough idea of where someone is based or located is more than sufficient for us to make a decision on whether or not a meeting is viable. I would assume that the majority of us will make final contact by phone and it is here that we make the actual arrangements to secure a final meeting and where a address will be given or arrangements made as to which hotel or wine bar or house address where the actual meeting will take place in.
This is just a personal thing but I would never meet anyone without speaking on the phone first it seems a natural communication to me and I admit to not being a fan of constant email tennis. If someone doesn’t want to speak to me on the phone then I have to ask the question why? I also believe its possible to learn more about a person in a ten minute phone call than dozens of emails and several hours of chat via MSN Messenger or Messenger, plus the fact that phone contact seems to make it all more personal to me and therefore there is less of a likelihood of a no show. I certainly would not rely on some mileage calculator on a web site to make a final decision on a meet.
Just as an aside, It was said recently on another thread that we should get a definite phone number, a recent face photo and then tell someone where and what we are doing. With me it’s a matter of no phone contact then no meet.

Does anyone else think that the mileage calculator which shows how far people are from your own location is a bit inaccurate to say the least..... :!:
I checked out a profile at a location to which I defintely know the mileage but SH's calculation was well out....by miles...literally
